this is somthing that has been on my mind for a while...are there any other locke lovers out there? Or dose the rest of the final fantasy population dislike him and plot to kill him behind his back? Oh well, what ever your preference please vote!

oh ya tell me why you do or don't like him,just so i know what people actually like about him...

I always use him. Stealing rocks! You can get so many useful things.

He stays in the back row for me so his attacks are so-so, but equip him with the right things and he's a monster.

However if your party strategy allows for it, he is a very useful person.

I don't care much for his personality one way or the other, but he's always one of my strongest characters alongside Terra, Celes, and Shadow. I just have to bring him along for klepto purposes.

I like the Character but he isn't very strong, so I don't use him a lot.
My first choise of Avater was Lucke's wink, but they didn't have it. *tear*

Locke is posibly the greatest of all characters. I always use him. He is the best.

I don't like him too much I only use him when I am forced to, which luckily is only really at the beginning of the game.

Locke is cool. He's a great char, and armed with Illumina + Excalibur, he is a reaper machine.

I always use him, but im no die hard fanatic of him.

I hate Locke. He is useless in combat when compared to the others. His personality is annoying as well. Yeah, we all go through hard times, get over it. If he didn't have steal he would be useless. I think it is a tie between him and Kain for most overated character.

hmmmm...i see some mixed emotions in the crowd, but that dosen't pull my spirits down. My favourite thing to do with locke is equip him with the Genji glove and an offering and let him loose! hes also good for stealing a multiple ammount of times, hehehe But the absolute thing i love about locke is the diversity of his charicter...
hes taken care of his love rachel through thick and thin, he tended to terra when she was disoriented at the beginning of the game, likes to go on epic quests (who dosen't?) and i could go on...
i can understand if some people don't like locke at all, i mean dosen't everyone have a most hated charicter in the game or series?

I use Locke every so often, but not too much. I'm also not a big fan of his. Sure, he can steal, but besides that I didn't find him useful. As a character, though, he is ok. Not my favorite but he's not too bad.

I really like Locke as a character and I probably wouldn't use him otherwise since I almost never steal.

I like Locke, both in and out of battle. Outside of battle, he is a strong character with believable emotions, and I like his backstory and motivations.

As for in battle, well, I always like using theives because of the steal option. Plus, despite what many people say about him being weak, I don't see it. He's just as good as the other characters.

A low-level game is impossible without Locke for the sole reason that stealing becomes your one source of financial stability.

Trust me on this.

Apart from that, Locke is a pretty good character but with stats surpassed by many other characters. He's good but doesn't stand out enough to be a particularly useful character. Like most rogues he's pretty well-rounded but doesn't excel anywhere useful.

I usually just use him to steal stuff, then ditch him in favor of somene else.

As a storyline character, he sucks. The whole bit about his past was good, but a guy that picks one girl on the spur of the moment (Terra) then instantly switches to the hot blond chick after saving her (Celes) definitely doesn't score very high in my eyes.

IMO Locke is my most favorite FF6 male char on top of Edgar and Cyan..
I don't use steal alot... I mostly just use his stealling for getting good tools for Edgar, rare things, and some items I'll need...

I always put Locke in my team...He is very strong if you give him good swords and armor and relics and espers.. I liked his storyline...It was pretty good... I liked his love story with Rachel, then with Celes... One problem is: I never got to see the conclusion to their love. Did they finally marry? Did they break up? Did one of them die?...That is just one thing I didn't like about Locke's story with Celes.

Overall, he's pretty cool and fun. For those who hate Locke but need him for stealing, don't use him. Give Shadow a Thief Knife. He can equip Thief Knife.

Exactly; just because he´s being nice to Terra and tries to protect the troubled lady doesn´t necessarily mean he´s sexually interested in her, dammit!

Locke as a fighter doesn't get good until about halfway through the game, and I don't like to put up with him until then. The only reason he gets good is because of the good relics and weapons that become available, the same relics and weapons better characters can use. Some people like steal, but I think it makes battles too long and it causes your characters to take more damage. The items stolen don't make up for all that in my opinion. Capture is better, except the damage dealt is often well below average compared to the game's best abilities like Blitz and Rage. I'm sure fancy weapons and vigor boosts can change that but only late in the game.

The bottom line is, Locke starts out weak and can get strong by the end of the game, but so can every other character. No other character is as weak as Locke early in the game except Relm, if you consider her acquisition point early in the game. This is partially caused by the fact that statistically evasion was supposed to be one of his strengths, but since the evasion stat doesn't work due to a game bug Locke got cheated. He's a likable character so people bring him along for the ride and wait for the point to arrive when he can actually make effective contributions in battle besides collecting tonics, potions and the occasional decent item. If he had a dull personality almost nobody would use him.

Locke's personality is his strong point. I like his interaction with Celes throughout the game. It built up a good story.

Locke is in my opinion very strong. You could boost him up with weapons and relics but then again you can do that whit most of the crew. And as i90east said you can only do this late in the game.

But his background story is very interesting. I love his personality and how he helps celes evolve(sp?) in the game. And his side story with Rachel is just wonderful.

I love stealing in all FF games, so he ended up leveling pretty fast with me. He had a good persona but then all the characters in FFVI did!
I'd say he ranks high in my FFVI like rank but no-one's as awesome as Celes.

I also think Zidane was a crossbreed of Locke and Cloud...

At the beginning of the game, Locke was an extremely useful character. But once I got a wider variety of characters to choose from (ie. Mog (moogle charm), Shadow (ninja coolness), Gogo (versatility), Sabin (absolute super strength)), he kind of got nudged out of the spotlight. His stats are pretty good, better than some by a bit. Then there's those Earthguards (<- I think that's what they're called) on Cid's island. Locke gets along with them pretty good for the short time that they're alive, if you know what I mean (megalixirs!). So there you have it. He's an very good character for where he's necessary.

Pros:
Awesome theme music
Good speed stat

Cons:
I rarely, if ever, use the Steal command in VI, so it's like having a wasted ability slot on a character.
I am required to use him at one point in the game whether I want to or not.
His other stats are mediocre at best, and speed, unless grossly higher than that of the other characters and monsters in a battle, doesn't make a notable difference in VI.

I've never liked him, and I probably never will. In terms of pure gameplay, my reasons are identical to Phoenix's; Locke doesn't really have much going for him, and Steal is hardly useful in Final Fantasy VI considering the sheer number of obscenely powerful items you can otherwise obtain. I've also never enjoyed his character, which is unfortunate considering the several occasions that the game forces you to use him.

I love Steal and Locke is generally one of my favorite characters that I use almost all the time. I don't like him as much early on though. He's better in late WOB and WOR than in his scenario..
