Personally, I'm suprised no one has mentioned mine yet. I was pretty ticked at Kefka after Leo died, I always wanted him as a party member, but I wasn't one of those people who tried to keep on reviving him with those stupid rumors. cool.gif

I will also say the dream stooges often confused me, they could have just replaced them with Werexsoul himself, and just made the floating door area a puzzle stage. But that's just me. shifty.gif

Definately the Phoenix Cave. It was far to long and irritating for my taste.

well, i'm not even as much a fan of the game as the rest of you, but i'd have to say that there is really no part in the game i disliked (maybe kefka's tower for being so damn easy). for some reason, i always enjoed pheonix cave and cave to the sealed gate (except for that %&#@ing ninja who drops down and uses 3 throw attacks before you get a hit in, instantly killing the party), and i can't say i especially disliked anything else being brought up, either. i actually loved phantom train and cyan's dream; these were two of my favourite parts of the game. i dunno, nothing just sticks out as particularly *bad* like ff7's ice gate.

the one thing that ticked me off always was that some areas of the game are too short. i mean i can get half way thro the game in one day if have enough paitence.

I didn't like Mog. Period. In fact I just hate moogles. They annoy me. However in FFVI they're not as bad as in FFIX (which is why I dispise them).

The World of Ruin seemed somewhat rushed to me. As if they were hurrying to add some extra backstories and let you end the game. Chrono Trigger felt the same near the end. I guess I just wanted more backstory and a few more quests. I can't help it, like most people, I love this game!

The only thing I didn't like was why was Cyan alone in the caves of Narshe in his dream? Where did that come from!

Having just played through it, my vote is for the Auction House. Nothing like having to sit through a dozen identical repetitions each of the auctions for Cure Rings, Cherub Downs, and the Amazing Talking Chocobo just to get a couple of useful Espers.

It's really one of the very few Annoyingly Tedious Optional Sidequests in the game... sort of a precursor to their massive overabundance (IMHO) in FF7.

I didn't really like the entire Opera scene. It was quite interesting, unique, and creative, but not something I particularly enjoyed from the point of view of the game-player. I found it boring, and too slow compared to the rest of the game. However, on the other hand, I've felt that many of the things I've read criticisms of here I actually have no problem with, or even like: Cyan's dream makes appropriately little sense to me, while Zozo's a weirdly cool place.

Wait...keeping Cid alive was also irritating.

for Glenn Magus, how did you not like the Opera scene? I LOVE that scene to death, it is like the signature scene of the game. I love the Aria de Mezzo Carratere too, but whatever, everyone has their opinions.

Well, considering I've only just started the WoR, I guess the worst thing I've come across so far is the floating continent. Took me FOREVER to beat that, and I forgot to get Shadow the first time, had to restart and play through it again. lol, well whatever, I love FFVI to death, it's a beautiful game, but like any RPG takes patience, thought, planning, and a lot of time and work happy.gif

I don't think there is a part in the game that I really don't like.
After I finally beat it, I can't complain too much. If anything I didn't like the Phoenix Cave. There wasn't any real reason except it was long. I've gotten good at keeping all of my characters around the same level so that none of them get too weak. >.>

Well, the first time I played through the game, I didn't use any guides to help me, and it was before ZSNES had transparency, so you couldn't see the world map (heh, before I got a transparency emulator and could see the map, I always wondered what that red dot in the corner was), so I got stuck at some parts in the World of Balance. I also was ticked in the World of Ruin because Terra didn't join in Mobliz and I wondered why the heck only Celes, Sabin, Edgar, and Setzer rejoined.

Keeping Cid alive was hard to get, if you don't know the game's algorythms.
And Fanatics Tower was plain irritating hard.

ya i agree, keeping cid alive was a real pain, but i think by far no matter how many times i play the game, zozo has to be the most annoying, why oh why did terra have to fly up there of all places!?! sleep.gif

Keeping Cid alive. I just let him die. And I found the Fanatics' Tower annoying. As for Zozo, I absolutely loved it. Probably one of my favourite towns, along with Nikea.

Oh, God...I didn't like the Phoenix Cave, Kefka's Tower, Giving fish to Cid, and mostly the worst: NO EXP after boss battles unless they call monsters from random battles like at Narshe in the beginning when you go and fight the boss there to let him not get to Terra or at the burning house at Thamasa.

I just don't seem to like 0 EXP after boss battles. I just get 2-7 magic points for espers and/or some GP and/or Item(s). I mean, I really worked hard and I get no experience!? That's stupid. Only ff1, 4, 7, and tactics let you have EXP after boss battles. I'm not too sure about ff3 since I played it a little and got bored at it.

Parts of FFVI that I didn't like... hm... hold on... there's got to be something there. The game's too long for there to be nothing I didn't like...

Ah!
I did not like the trip through the MagiTek Facility at Vector at all. I think it was the heavy industrial techno music that Nobuo thought up. I was too strong for the enemies to give me any sort of trouble, and I didn't mind geting all those treasure chests that were a million miles off the beaten path. It was just the music. I think that's gotta be the only time I didn't think the music was very excellent. That's it. I didn't mind saving Cid, the Fanatics' Tower, protecting the esper from Kefka, or Sabin's scenario.

I didn't like the part where you had to fight a friggin 255 battles to get Paladin shield.

Nor did I like getting 2 million gils only to find out that you couldn't outbid the little spoiled brat in the front row. I hope his mother spanks him when she hears what he convinced his father to buy biggrin.gif

The only other thing would have to be cyans dream.
The first time I went into it I couldn't win. So I had to restart the game sleep.gif
no save outside. I was way underleveled too.

Well, as I kind of already said in another post, I think the whole WoR was lacking in terms of story line development. It seemed to me like a case of how the whole is supposed to be greater than the sum of the parts. While each person technically had their 'moment in the spotlight', they immediately fade back into anonymity afterwards, without any real interaction until the ending (exceptions: Cyan's part 2 quest, Gau's father, Locke/Celes after the Phoenix cave).

One of the things I notice now that I'm older (I was quite young when I first played the game), is that most of the party's responses are canned, and independent of whose ACTUALLY in the lead, or in the party (you get the same generic message whether its Sabin or Edgar or bloody Relm in the lead).

I object, however, to the unfair treatment of the Dream Sequence in this thread. Albeit the first part with the Dream Stooges was tacky (perhaps just a throw-back to FF4's Delta Sisters?), the dream sequence itself was moving to me. I find it easier to live with the Dream Stooges if I think of them as the archetypal 'stupid minions' of Wrexsoul, than of malevolent demons on their own.

As for my personal "worst part" of the game? I would have to say that the worst part of the game for me was the Fanatic's Tower (no special skills/fighting at all, and monsters that were rather annoying).

Some of the WOR side-quests seemed random and optional. I guess they were, though. I prefered the solid WOB to the loose WOR though.

I've been thinking about it long and hard for a while and i think i have come up with my area's i hate. First is the floating continent, if find it rather annoying that you can only take three charecters with you. Shadow is great and all but bv that point of the game you really have to train him hard to have him be of any use to you really. Plus i hated the fact of, if you run out of items and you get to the part where you can get bCack to the airship that you had to start all over again from the begining. There were times i had to do that and i just bearly made it to that part. Plus the fact that the map didnt act lke the normal map which ment you couldnt save any where or sleep anywhere. Plus truthfully atma weapon was a sever waist of time, i mean most bosses in the game had some rational purpose, he was just there to delay you alittle.
Another part i really dont like is of course the pheniox cave, locke was always my charecter in the game. Getting thru the cave took forever and i usally had to do it far into the world of ruin just to get my guy back. The fact that the majority of the chests were empty was annoying too, it seemed so random and what not plus it also seemed odd that locke skipped over those chests. Having to control two parties was very annoying as well, i mean it was hard enough to keep one alive but now i have another one too. usally i just put mog on that team with the moogle charm and thats the end of that problem. Manily though it was the set up, it was just too random, i mean you "have" to have two teams to get thru it, even though locke managed to get thru it just fine on his own. The monsters were just remakes of the same old mosters you fought before just a little harder, and most of all it just makes no sense to have all those traps and so forth in that place.
Now on to cyans dream, this annoyed the heck out of me for a few reasons, one is you are entering a place that no one should go to to begin with. Plus you've been to all those areas before and yet they've all completely changed. The last thing is the fact that they had openable chests with actual phyiscal items in them that could be taken outside of the dream. I never got that part at all.
Finally my greatest annoyance of all in the entire game, the thrown togeather feel of the world of ruin. Truthfully its like disk three of final fantasy 7 , it's really just pointless, it has nothing of real impact on the game except the charecter building aspect. Also this part always annoyed me because this was were every side quest in the game is, some of those side quest just seem to of been thrown togeather at the last minute, take umaro for example. Other side quests felt like they should really have been put in earlier, for example the buried castle that you have to find with figgaro castle. Why werent you able to go to this before, the castle isnt doing anything different? Also all the hard work you have to go thru to get the final two charecters that arent even that great, you cant even control umaro. Gogo's strange dungeon was just unnessiscary. Plus i never like howed gogo could use every skill except morph, i dont understand about that one. I really honestly think they should have done the umaro sidequest in conjunction to the mog one in the world of balance, that was things would seem to fit more, you get umaro on your team to help save his friend mog, the greatful mog then joins your team and gets to spend time with his friend, that to me would of made more sense. The falcon was always something that annoyed the heck out of me, i mean why didnt it have all the neat areas of the other one?
Dang it now i feel like i have nit picked this too much, but those are basically everything that just drove me nuts about the game.
