Okay, I have a couple questions about Gogo...

1) Is Gogo male or female?  I never did quite figure it out...

2) What is Gogo's history?  It's not like Shadow, who doesn't make much sense until you see his dreams or anything like that.  When I played FF6, I got nothin' about Gogo.  Zip.  Nada.  Gogo is just... there.  Did I miss something?

Ah, yes, the omnipresent FFVI enigma.  Who is Gogo?  I'll try to answer your questions, but to this day, said questions have never truly been answered at all, though they are often a subject of heated debate.

1.) Truth be told, no one really knows.  It all depends on who you listen to, and what theories you like to form.  But I'll get into that with question #2.

2.) Okay, here goes.  No one really knows who or what Gogo is, especially because it is never truly elaborated in the game.  He's the only true secret character in the game, and thus they never really bothered to write a background storyline for him.  Thus, many people have come up with theories as to the mystery man's identity.  (I'll have to put these in spoiler, since there may well be a few spoilers in my explanation.)

One of the most popular theories is that Gogo is in fact Daryl, Setzer's long-lost soulmate who supposedly died in a freak airship accident a long time ago.  It is elaborated that her body was never found.  However, there is little or no evidence to support this, and it remains merely a conjecture.  Another popular theory is that Gogo is actually Emperor Gestahl or Banon, both leaders of the two factions (Empire and Returner, respectively) who mysteriously disappear after both organizations are dissolved following the end of the world.  While this is possible for either of them, and would explain the sudden disappearances, they are still guesses with little supporting evidence.  Yet another theory proposes that Gogo is Baram, Shadow's long-lost partner in crime who was left at the shores of a river when Shadow (then Clyde Arrowny) refused to mercy-kill him.  This idea is very enticing, and is quite possible, but still there is no evidence.  Finally, there is the theory (which is the one which I personally agree with) that Gogo is actually the Gogo from Final Fantasy V.  FFV did in fact have a boss named "Gogo".  He could be found in the underwater Tower of Water, and held the crystal carrying the Mimic Job Class.  He was a mimic by nature, and his clothing was very similar to FFVI Gogo's.  You had to defeat him to get the crystal, but instead of dying like a normal villain, he chose to open up a trans-dimensional portal in time after defeat, hurtling himself into it and the unknown.  It is very possible that this "next dimension" was actually the world of Final Fantasy VI.  This would explain his unusual location (the belly of a Zone Eater) and his inherent ability to Mimic skills and actions.  This theory is actually supported by evidence, as well, due to the major similarities between the two Gogos of FFV and FFVI.

And there you have it.  A take on the much-discussed origins of Gogo.

I would have to agree with Super Moogle's theory. That is certainly what I thought after I found out the "evidence" that supports his theory.

If your not satisfied why not Change Gogo's name. And there you have it. So in your little game you are always right. But I'd just settle for Gogo.

Personally, I agree with the FF5 theory. There is some evidence behind it, or at least some hinting. Square, you've done it again.

I think that all the major evidence points to FFV's Gogo.  I mean, the other theories work just fine, but there is too much obvious facts that lead to the boss Gogo.  I bet that this is what Square wanted everyone to figure out, and when they didn't and thought of different explanations, they jus shook their heads and didn't say a word.  That or I'm crazy...but I'm not...I mean, SM said that was the right theory...so I'm not crazy...stop staring at me...stupid flying pink elephants...

Well...I support Super Moogle's theory about Gogo being the same as the one in FF5...c'mon...I'm fed up with people telling that Setzer said Daryl's airship crashed on Triangle Island, and so, Gogo must be Daryl, is like if I'd say that Celes and Kefka are brother simply because Gestahl said something to Celes of being somehow related to Kefka (maybe the fact that both were injected with espers' magic)....

I think that Gogo is the Gogo from FFV.  It makes the most sense to me.
