Now that Firefox adoption is increasing and IE in XP SP2 has its own popup blocker, ad providers are finding increasingly cunning ways to sneak their popups past.

So yes, it is normal for some popups to get through nowadays. Luckily, it's still relatively few, and the Mozilla team is always on the lookout for them - you can report popups that get past the Mozilla/Firefox popup blocker in the special Mozilla bug 253831.

I've had one or two get past too, but it's to be expected. It's very simular to the situation that Linux and Mac OS X are facing lately. Now that they are being used more and more, they are more frequently becoming the targets of attacks by hackers. I guess that's the price that you pay for becoming more popular, you become a bigger target. Firefox is just becoming the victim of it's own popularity.

Fortunately, the people who make Firefox are up to the challenge when it comes to doing what it takes to improve their brower. thumbup.gif

if i ever find out who created pop-ups, i'm gonna kick em square in the nuts. anyways, i guess it's not that big of a deal, but it was kinda surprising. at least it's not as bad as IE. thumbdown.gif

Remember to allow Caves of Narshe to display pop-ups if you want a pop-up telling you when you have a new private message. Go to options in the tools menu, click on web features and a list of sites to allow pop-ups is on the right.
