I was just wondering, if you were a character in a video game and were aligned with a certain element (think CT), what would that element be?

For me, I would have the same answer I've had since I first played Shining Force 1 and saw Freeze. I'd use Ice magic (Air is good too). So, what would you use?

I went with Air because I've always liked wind-based attacks and magic. Aero being one of my favorites. I also chose it because it represented "Quest" on FFV, something I really liked the sound of for some reason.

I absolutely adore water. The sensation of drinking it, the transparent clean look of it, and the feeling of it flowing over my body. I was very tempted to pick water. Ascetically, I would choose water.

Performance-wise I would pick holy. Holy has few weaknesses, (usually just dark), and few resists. (Usually just holy.) It tends to only be strong vs one element though. (Dark) When I cast a holy spell I feel as if I am smiting evil with a form of "divine justice." While wearing armor equiped with holy status, I feel as though my character is guarded by righteousness itself. Holy seems to have such an extra depth of meaning for me.

In the end, I chose Holy.

Endless Knight said it perfectly. I'd pick holy too.

I like a combination of Air, Ice, and Lightning, which, in Gladius, is summed up in just Air. I love Ice just because you can freeze enemies with it (thinking of video games, of course, not in real life). Plus, it'd be cool to be resistant to Ice, so I could better withstand the harsh winters here in Rochester. Lightning/Thunder always fascinated me...just because of its power and speed. Air is just awesome altogether. So...air is my choice, since it is really the only TRUE element of the 3 of my favorites.

Anyway, I went with water after weighing it against ice for a while. Sometimes I'm somewhat icy, but since I think I'm usually more of a fluid responsive type of person, and because ice is another form of water anyway, I picked water.

fire. i got that hot irish temper, i'm always on edge, and my fuse burns pretty fast. i figure fire sums up my personality better than anything else, so i just went with that.

Water and Water only! Form as long as I can remember, I've always wanted to be affiliated with that element, and, with blue being my favorite color, it would make even more sense.

I also think water isn't used enough in games. I think game makers tend to use ice over water because it's more solid, and they tend to view those two elements as one in the same...ice is, in essence, water after all. But anyways, Water's my choice.

There are other less scientific lists of elements in various cultures, Chinese for example. Most of them have some sort of religious or spiritual significance, and if I remember correctly, some are even referenced with regard to healing and the layout of one's house. (Depends on the culture.)

Dark for me. What could be better? You have tons of goody two-shoes coming after you to try and end your tyranny, but if they aren't skilled enough you merely cut them down in one blow, and bask in the savory feeling of their fallen blood.
Even nicer would be if your darkness permitted you to summon a blade of death, acidic to the touch to all but you, able to steal power and souls for it's own twisted purpose. Hehehe.

Personality wise? Ice. I dunno why, but ice is always my choice element.

To me the elements would mean
Fire: An angry person annoyed at the slightest thing, always wants their own way.
Ice: Someone cool but distant. Doesn't really get angry at much, so it may come accross as if they don't care. Prolly rather set in their ways.
Lightning: Someone who's usually nice and calm, but when annoyed can suddenly lash out unexpectedly.
Water: Someone who goes with the flow of the situation and is willing to follow others.
Air: A free spirit without a care in the world, will do what they want when they want rarely loosing their temper.
Earth: A rational person who likes to solve problems logically, and lives life methodically.
Dark: A rather untrustworthy person who looks out for them self, willing and prolly happy to back-stab to get ahead in life.
Light: A goodnatured person who enjoys helping others, often putting others before themselves.

But, that's just my opinion ^^;

Water. I just love the water. Living on a 45-square-mile island, there's nothing to do except rock-jumping, swimming and lounging about on the beach. I just love to swim, the feel of being underwater, etc. Plus Lucozade Hydroactive is the best thing ever. My favourite colour would be blue, and I can pretty much go with any situation. I guess it fits me, as Mu said, I'm happy to follow, infact, I dislike leading. Abilities-wise, wouldn't it just be cool to annihilate all who oppose you with a tidal wave? Or to be able to swim all day long, without having to come up for air? Yes, water all the way, I say.

I'm spirit the power to give others emotional hypes (Spirit became wood or metal).

Ice. I adore it. It strikes me as intelligent, cunning, and stalwart. I like water too, but the thing is it seems to depress me for some peculiar reason. Light/Dark also has my attention. I used to adore dark, but eventually leaned towards light (heh... reminds you of Cecil doesn't it?), but i still feel attached to dark, like I've got some kind of connection with it (i know i sound insane saying this). I seem to get this weird rush whenever I'm in the dark.

I chose earth. Yeah, generaly earth type attacks in games suck, but when it comes to real life, I find nothing more amazing than a feild of green and gold, flanked by forests, so alive, so peaceful.

That is unless there's a lake in it or something. Water is my second choice. It can be serene and delicately beautiful in one place, and yet feirce and powerfully stunning in another. Sorta like me

Ejoty: I wasn't referring to all of them as elements. Caesar said Air is an element, I simply corrected him. To think that those choices are all elements of the periodic table...well...that would have to come from someone that has played RPGs for too long.

I'd have to say water. I tend to stay calm about things alot. But then if provoked i can explode and stuff. Apparently i get labeled as a stoic of sorts around school, so i guess that could be labled as deepas water. That goes double for bottling alot of things up all the time- No pun inteneded, but i just hide alot, sort of liek water does.

I pick holy cause the protagonist has more adventure than the antagonist instead of sending bosses to fight the protagonist which the protagonist does more fun, adventuring, and busy...

but mostly I'm Dark because of my personality and my ways of life cause I'm like a pissed being...

Now, there is a point to my post and here it is. I am not Asian, nor do I believe in any of the elemental stuff, but I do like to learn about other cultures. After seeing this topic, I did a web search and located this page:

I'd probably go for dark because I like that kind of magic. Ice is second then Earth.
Besides, personally I'd love to be able to beat up a self rightious hero once and again.... I like heros but there are way to many >.>

Once I heard the word "element", I immediately thought back to FFI. Those elements include Earth, Fire, Water, and Air. So, it could be argued that air is, indeed, and element. However, whether it is or not doesn't affect my decision, since air is still amazing. Imagine having the power to create a perpetual cool breeze right next to you on a hot summer day....

I would be fire because its a very destructive power that I would love to use to incinerate anyone who would oppose me. I'm also very into whatever I do and whatever I believe in, so fire is the element for me. A second for me would be dark. I like hitting opponents with raw power hard and fast, and dark attacks are usually very strong. Dark attack animations are also mad cool .
