when faced with buying weapons what do you usually go for? a weapon that has high damage or a weopn that may have lower damage but an ability to do some sort of status change (sleep, death, etc.). if i can, i try to combine the two like with ninjas on FFT. a good combo is spell edge, death blade, mage masher, or the like and a ninja edge, iga knife, koga knife, or the like. what are your thoughts on this.

I'm going to assume this is about FFT and move it there. If you're asking for something more broad, please let me know.

I just buy whatever the shopkeep tells me i need. Status ailments arent really all that good in this game, since the battles are easy enough as it is.

I just buy all the lastest equipment that the store has for you. altho I did want to avoid the reflect armor since it always give you refect and it prevents me from protecting my characters with my magic.

I generally take the higher damage over the status effects because I'm going to kill them in one or two hits, so the status effect isn't really going to factor into too much.
For armor and such, I often take the opposite approach and go for pos. status effects over HP. I.e. Robe of Lords over Maxmillian, Thief Hat over Crystal Helmet, etc. |

Well, me, I'm kind of simple on this subject. I just buy the latest, strongest-looking weapons or armor and equip them on my characters.

I agree with Kane for the most part. I go for high damage weapons on my attackers but my armor/helmet depends on the class. Obviously your mages will use the most-MP armor available, as opposted to the strongest. I use twist headbands through the whole game on ninjas, geomancers, and any other attacker that can use a lower helmet because the attack bonus is so useful. I suggest you do the same! Twist headband gets my vote for player of the game

P. S. - Kane, your signature leaves out "Quesne" like DuQuesne University

In terms of weapons, I usually go for raw power for fighter-type units (why use Orlandu, if you're not willing to give him a proper Knight Blade?). For other classes (magicians and support units like Bard, Dancer and Mediator), I mostly goes with special boosts and abilities (Wizard Rod comes to mind, as well as the various Bags).
The cases of Knives is a little different : since they do so little damage anyway, I try to take the one I'll find the most useful (Mage Masher or Blind Knife are pretty nifty in story battles early on). There are times when the two conditions meet though : the Geomancer is usually very well suited with equiping the Rune Blade (highest attack power for a Sword and MA + 2). |
