Well, I'm kind of computer illiterate, as is my friend who wants to know, if he were to buy FFXI, and install it on one computer, would he be able to take the game to the home of his other parent and still play on his account? Anyone have any ideas?

i haven't played the game, but i don't see why not. does this game require an activation key, or is it just pop it in, install, create account, huzzah? either way, you should be able to play it on multiple comps, just not at the same time. i see it as how you can log on to this site no matter what comp you're on. if i'm wrong, feel free to dummy slap a few times.

In reply to the first post;

Yes, you can use your account on multiple computers.. that being said however, its recommended that you disable the "Automatic-Login" option.. as others could log into your account and screw around with it while your not aware.

In order to create an account, you need a valid Credit Card (to pay the monthly fee's) in order to get past the first prompts of the POL (PlayOnline Viewer) to be able to create a character. But lucky for you, you get the first month for free bu after the first month ends, you must pay $12.95 USD per month to keep on playing.

About Activation Keys/Content ID's.. you need valid keys in order to purchase Content ID's (you use them to make your character) and actually get into the game.

Let me tell you this though, its worth it. I been playing for roughly 3 months now, and im cruising along nicely. Im a bit short of Gil, but eh, thats nothing new, gah >.o
