It depends on the monster. If it was a Tiamat id try to catch it. If it was a chocobo id kill it and spit on it mad.gif .

I make sure to have two or three monsters for variety's sake. Normally I have a Black Chocobo, Vampire, and a Behemoth, but that sometimes changes depending on my mood. The game's easy enough without having the powerful monsters; go with the meek, I say.

I only catch monsters to breed them for poaching. I think that the only time I ever used a monster was a red chocobo a few games back at Golgorand Execution Site.

How can you afford to use a Red Chocobo at Golgorand? To me, that seems a bit challenging. unsure.gif

To stay on topic, I, like Nova, breed the monsters to poach them. wink.gif

On my new account I've only invited Uribos/Porkys in order to breed a Wildbow to poach, the reason being that I had my ribbon broken awhile back and didn't choose to reset that game. But I haven't gotten a ribbon so far, and it is taking quite a long time for a Wildbow to show up in my formation.

I rarely poach monsters, actually. Poaching counts as a casualty in the brave count, if I remember correctly, and I don't like to have that ticker marred. biggrin.gif

I don't think it counts as a casualty, Shotgun.

I love getting panthers and vampires on my team.....I think it stems from my love of Drizz't and his familiar.

I catch for poaching. And I don't think it counts as a casulty either. I think it's only a casulty if they crystallize. I'd check for sure if my old roomate hadn't stolen my memory card with my near perfect game on it. I'm not looking forward to having to trek up to Canada in order to kill him.

Hmm, I don't rightly remember either, but I stopped poaching Wildbows and Porkies after I got a blemish on the brave count. You'd think it would count as one since poaching an animal and crystallization both add up to a permanent loss of a party member.

I guess I'll have to check again. =/

I don't usually bother catching and using monsters... they are usually pretty weak and useless, so I don't waste my time. That's not to say I've never done it before but I susually don't waste my time.

It depends on whether or not you count Boco, Worker 8, or Byblos.

I also use Worker 8 and occasionally the Byblos (sometimes he bothers me so I boot him).

I have one pet Tiamat in my main group, but I also have another save with nothing but Ramza and a pack of high-level monsters. I don't know why...

Out of them the Tiamat and Red Chocobo are the most used, I have an affinity for that Choco as it was the creature that took me through the game up to getting Cid my first play-through.

I bring a Black Chocobo and sometimes have a Red Chocobo as well. I don't care much about the others.

If I remember correctly, the only mosters I ever caught were chocobos and dragons. I caught chocobos because I think they're great, kinda like pets. I caught dragons that way I could use Reis's abilities. I only use monsters in random battles though, kinda for fun purposes.

Reading this post has given me a good idea for a challenge. I'm going to try to go through the game with just Ramza and 2 beasts. Beasts are changeable/upgradeable (You dont have to stick with 2 wimpy Ghouls if you wish to get Dragons).

Kind of get the look of an Ogre Battle setup. I'll see if it's possible. Although to be frank, I picture Cloud w/ two Dark Behemoths taking on the all the battles alone...Maybe I'll just leave ramza in a corner.

Yes, in fact, I do use monsters. They can be very useful (eapecially Black Chocobos) but I have been having a bit of trouble breeding a Black Chocobo.

Yes, I catch monsters, but i rarely use them.

I only catch Chocobos for movement increases or flight (Black chocobos). I also catch dragons, but only for reis.

Other then that, I don't use them for much.
