What is your favorite anime theme song?

Mine is the one from Serial Experiments Lain
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Duvet - Opening theme for Serial Experiments Lain

And you don't seem to understand
A shame you seemed an honest man
And all the fears you hold so dear
Will turn to whisper in your ear
And you know what they say might hurt you
And you know that it means so much
And you don't even feel a thing

I am falling, I am fading
I have lost it all

And you don't seem the lying kind
A shame then I can read your mind
And all the things that I read there
Candle lit smile that we both share
and you know I don't mean to hurt you
But you know that it means so much
And you don't even feel a thing

I am falling, I am fading, I am drowning
Help me to breathe
I am hurting, I have lost it all
I am losing
Help me to breathe

Mine would have to be "Tank" from Cowboy Bebop. That music is awesome. Great trumpet player. laugh.gif No words really...just the guy in the beginning talking.

For me, it's a tie between Bebop's awesome orchestra and Trigun's screaming electric guitars. I especially like the end of "Tank" where it shows the pictures and they flash to silhouettes while the trumpet is staccato-ing everything. \m/

Love 'em both.

There's this anime called I want to be an Angel that we used to watch in my anime club before I got outta that. We watched a lot of anime in that class and normally, we'd play the intro for a tv series just once and skip it the rest of the way through. This particular anime however had such a dambed catchy tune, that we played the intro everytime we watched it. People were singin along to it, and often everyone would shout out the engrish lyrics. Something about cycling...

Anyway, it was an uber cute style anime that was much too fluffy for my taste. However that song really got stuck in my head. I think it's the only anime intro theme I ever enjoyed. Most everything else is substandard jPop, which I can't stand to begin with.

Anything from FLCL, seeing as the soundtrack was done by The Pillows. I think the opening song was "Rush" and the ending song was "Ride on Shooting Star," two excellent tracks by an excellent beyond excellent band.

Cowboy Bebop music comes in a close second, as Cowboy Bebop pretty much aces every single aspect of coolness there is.

The Bebop, Trigun, FLCL, Eva, and Hellsing music mentioned is all kick-ass, but for me it's all about the Rurouni Kenshin theme used during the Kyoto story-arc as performed by Half. Great singing melodies + lyrics. thumbup.gif

I still couldn't really decide, but I like Mystic Eyes from Escaflowne, Lai Lai Boy from Ranma 1/2, as well as Us From Now On (I think that's the title) from Ranma 1/2, My Mind from Inuyasha, the Fruits Basket theme, Nigyo Hime from Chobits, etc. There are too many to choose from :-)

Oh, and most of the Cowboy Bebop music. And Freckles from Rurouni Kenshin (the Japanese version)

Zechs, you know there's about 5 opening themes (and closing themes) for Inuyasha, right? Unless you mean that you like all of them.

I also liked the theme from Lain, but I didn't like the anime that much.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Definetely. As my second choice, I'd have to go with the ending theme from Yu-Yu-Hakusho(first season). I wish I remembered all of the words!

The theme from Record of Lodoss War, Sea of Miracles (English translation or something) is one of my favorites. Very pretty song, and nice-sounding lyrics.

to me, bebop music (uhm yoko kanno plz?) beats out flcl music by a longshot. the pillows did a great job, but the kanno-overseen seatbelts sewed bebop up. yoko kanno is probably the most brilliant anime/VG music composer there is (perhaps eclipsed by her vg contemporary yasunori mituda), in a field almost completely dominated by male artists. i like the same theme neal does, the lodoss series opening theme (also done by kanno). but seatbelts' "real folk blues" (and it's remix, "see you space cowboy") and "blue," if you count it (the series closer), and even "space lion," the closer to ep 13, are the ebst anime theme tracks of all time, imo.

As far as theme music goes, Tank is ridiculously cool. However, just music from anime in general, I love the boy's choir in episode of Bebop.

I very much like Tank! from Cowboy Bebop. "I think it's time to blow this thing. Get everybody and the stuff together. Ok three, two, one, let's jam." That's great.

Yea Tank rocks! There was another piece from Cowboy Bebop that was awesome....I know it as "Track 6" since my friend burned me a CD of it. biggrin.gif Anyways, there was a trombone screaming in the background and the actual music reminding me a train for some reason. In the middle it broke into this cool groove and everybody soloed. Great piece...

Also, I used to like Heart of Sword from Rurouni Kenshin. I haven't seen the show in awhile, so I haven't heard it in awhile, but I remember liking it. Same goes for Freckles (RK still)

Tsuki no le is a great song. I'm listening to it right now. Can't understand it, but that doesn't matter cuz it's awesome.

Space Lion is probably by far my favorite ending song to any series, even if was the ending song in one episode of said series. It's incredibly calming to me. The sax! wow... Space Lion seemed like the perfect way to end that 2 episode story in Cowboy Bebop. Watching the scene with the indians talking about the fallen warrior, then panning up to the sky and space. I loved the feeling I got from that moment. This song just sums up everything that I think Cowboy Bebop is about

In my recent obsession with "Thesis of Cruel Angel", I wanted to ask a question about it, and in searching whether the (rather specific) question had been asked before, I happened to come by this thread. So I decided to give it a shot.

In all honesty, the following is my knowledge of anime theme songs, which I give the following grades:

A - great work. Pretty much any theme song that's good or better.
B - decent, but I can't call it awesome.
C - it only kinda works, or has serious flaws in some way.
D - barely acceptable, or for whatever reason I really don't like it much.
F - complete fail.

Eagle Riders (English): C
Dragon Ball Z (English): B (though I don't like the anime at all, the song is fitting)
The New Adventures of Voltron (English): A
Sailor Moon (English): A
Pokémon (English) - "Gotta Catch 'em All!": A
Yu-Gi-Oh (English): D
Pocket Monsters (Japanese): D
Pokémon (English) - "Pokémon World": B
Pokémon (English) - "It's a Whole New World": A
Pokémon (English) - "Born to Be a Winner": B
Pokémon (English) - (unknown title, Master Quest season theme): C
Sailor Moon (season 1) (German): B (A for the music and the English radio edit version)
Rockman EXE (Japanese): A
Cowboy Bebop (no language) - "Tank!": A
Neon Genesis Evangelion (multi-lingual) - "Cruel Angel's Thesis": A
Yu-Gi-Oh (Japanese): B

My current favorite is probably Hidetoshi Sato's "Cruel Angel's Thesis", the theme song of Neon Genesis Evangelion.

My three favorites:

Paranoia Agent OP
Hellsing OP
Gankutsuou OP

I really like the Pillows, I really like Yoko Kanno and Real Folk Blues and all that, but I've heard it around so much and heard so many people worship so much that it simply isn't my favorite anymore. Cowboy Bebop is still my all-time favorite anime, but the music doesn't do it for me like it used to.
