I'm really not sure, and I highly doubt this since Leo is killed by Kefka, but you know how on the character select thing ( I.E when you jump onto Kefka's tower ) there's an extra space with no character to speak of? Well, rumor has it that the space is for General Leo. Anyone hear this rumor? Can anyone put it to rest?

I saw some rumors about getting Leo as well. I believe the one I heard had something to do with the dinosaur forest, or something, and it was on this site. But, I don't think you can really get him without a cheat device. Or an emulator, which is basically a cheat device.

I've never heard that particular addition to the slew of infamous rumors concerning Leo. Nevertheless, it's just that: a rumor. The only way to get him on your team is via hacking (I've never done any hacking/cheating on this game myself, so I have no clue if Leo or any other character(s) would/could occupy one of those spaces, since there are actually two of them). Any other way will not work, as there is no legitimate way.

So in short: nah, it's false.

Yeah, what he just said. I asked a few vets, and they too denied these rumors, after trying them themselves.

You can't get Leo. Most of the characters are impossible to miss; if you're in the WoR and you think you're missing people, the extra characters are Umaro, Mog, and Gogo. That's it.

I'd like to know what those empty slots are for though...
Seriously why would square add extra slots like that... unless..
Could square of meant to add more characters then just dropped it?

Probably just the layout of the screen. If not, the shop layout would have to change if you could get 16 characters.

... I think that 1000 battles one is the one I was talking about. Yeah, it was. Now, what I want to know now is.... why on earth did I just go do 1000 battles in that forest?

Getting General Leo
Go to the dinosaur forest (WoR) and fight and win 4,000 battles. After this is done, you will start getting into fights with Gold Dragons. Eventually they will give you a resurrect potion which will revive Leo. At this point he will join your party.

That was from the Rumours section of this site.

The game to my knowledge only keeps track of things less than 256 (ie - 255 max which is a convient way to store numbers in binary). Also, there is no extra spot for the resurrect potion in your items unless it was one of the rare items. This can be proven from my topic on "One More Item," where I found all but one item on my item list (which turned out to be the Ragnarok Sword you stole from Kefka's Frankin-Tower at the end of the game).

I thought you would always have at least 2 empty slots in the item list, since you can't have illumina and raknarok at the same time (except on the final kefka battle if you steal it), and same goes for the cursed and paladin shield.

That is true, the last spot is for the second Ragnarok. The last spot is kept free so you can equip an empty hand during battle.

Ugh... not this again. This rumor is so old. Anyway, one idea is that there _was_ another character (probably something worth deleting, like a cactrot character or something), but they dummied it, like in so many other games. Also, another idea is that this is just a repeat of the little ship by the S.S. Anne in Pokemon R/B/Y, and those slots serve no purpose _at all_ than to confuse the player. And, finally, my theory is that even though they could have made 12 slots for twelve characters, having 6 on a row, they decided putting 7 on a row would go from one end of the screen to the other, and just be better looking. If you _could_ get General Leo, someone would know by now. I mean, this games been out for almost a decade now, so...

A cactrot character would rock!!! I would make one in my hack, if only I could find a palette that fit him...anyways, I'm tired of General Leo rumors. It's impossible to get him without hacking.

Shouldn't the Terra's sprite has a lot of green color? ...

And I'm tired of Léo (yes LÉO, it's about time to spell it correctly tongue.gif), if he was that great, why did he died so easily?

Plus, for all the rumor-eaters, there's no dialogs, there's no events, there's no rare item, there's no super hidden code in the ROM that says :

Léo: Let's go to Kefka Tower, and I'll take care of this f***ing bastard that p***es me off with his f***ing laugh. tongue.gif

Every once in a while, someone has something to say about the two empty slots in party-change menu. Listen, in shops menu, there's only 14 slots.

As for Léo himself, I've already played the game with some hacking. In the ending, Léo says nothing, does nothing, but appears from time to time in the screen (I remember him on top of Lete River). He doesn't have a special ending with a improved Empire music theme. And after, nobody give him a pina colada. WHAT??? You didn't discover the super secret ending at Solitary Island in which the heroes take vacations?!? OMG...

I'll KOS anybody that tries to find this. Because it's a lie, a LIE. After 10 years, we discovered everything in this game. Then, all rumors are FALSE. So, stop trying to find the super secret thing and get a life. tongue.gif

This statement kind of upsets me. Not only is it false (we don't know half of the things we want to know about), I wonder if the word 'we' is a good work in this context.

I've only been playing the game for the past year, and I spent a few months of that searching for Gen. Leo rumors. I also chased the 'TYRANT' rumor, naive fool that I am. pinch.gif
Still, I don't regret my 99:99 spent, for it was the best hundred-and-a-half-hour period of my life.

Edit
Don't read this, it's not interesting and it's without interests tongue.gif but I have to keep it, because if not, next posts won't make any sense

Sorry if I upset you! I didn't mean that I discover something. But, you took the time to explain why you're upset (as always). So, I'll take the time too!

Listen, Djibriel, the "we" is impersonal. In french, there is the pronoun "on" that means "some people". Usually, when someone says "on", it usually doesn't include himself. Since, there's in no "on" in english, I use "we". When I can't use "on", I use "tu" or "vous", which means "you". In French, it's rarely used as a impersonal pronoun, but I use it anyway. But, in this context, if I would have said "you", that would have no sense. Then, "we" meant "many people, most hackers, but ordinary fans too".

So, EXCUSE ME if my english ISN'T 100% ACCURATE, oh! master of the universe! pinnacle of wisdom! god of god! Listen, if you're upset in this universe, remember that multiverse is BIG.

Actually, those two chara"ter slots are for Leo and Kefka. I'm guessing Square was us,ng them while making/testing th+se characters in battle situati.ns, then took them out since th y weren't intended 0o be pl yed. If you use Game Genie on the SNES version, you can play th$ game with Leo and Kefk$ taking up those two slots. No .ther way of course.

Okay, want to know how to get Leo?
Alright, you see, after Leo dies and have that little tomb thingy. Go up to with Terra as your onscreen character. She'll say: "General Leo... I believe I know what you mean now" or something to that extant. She'll babble on about what she thought he meant, little sob story, w/e. She starts crying, and her tears go over the altar, a little glowing enigma of Leo pops out. He says go to the forest of the dragons, there you will find the one thing that can save me, with that he vanishes. Go the dragon forest, with terra as the on screen character still. You need to fight that pretty damn tough dragon, whichever that one was (I forget, okay?). After killing it you'll get a Dragons Tear, take it back to the altar, Terra will automatically use it, Leo comes out, and you get him. He uses the same swords that Cyan uses and his special technique does way less damage then before. In the ending, when he talks to Kefka (when everyone says how they found what love is) he'll say the same thing Terra says, when they are running out of the tower, he has no cutsceen for some reason, so don't even say thats y he's not an available character. And on the airship he tends to stand around Umaro in the background in the ending credits.

Possible spoilers: highlight to view
If you've taken any of this seriously, please, please, for all our sakes, learn to become much much much less gullible :/
