Does anyone know what all those extra rare items in the Japanese version are for?

There are no extra rare items in the Japanese version. The items you must be talking about appear in the American version the same way as they do in the Japanese release: dummied. Check my site for more info on them.

Ahh, so "N/A in US Version" means Japanese as well.

Quote Books Simple book on machinery...And "Book of Secrets"... (N/A in US Game) That is actually in the american version. Don't know why its listed as not. It doesn't do a thing though. Possible spoilers: highlight to view when you find cyan in the WoR, it automatically takes you back one screen. After you're done talking to him, you can go back up to the screen you found him at and there's a shiny thing at the top left corner of the cliff. Go up to it and pick it up, and you get a key. Then you go back to the previous screen and open up the treasure chest to acquire the two books. |

Nothing useful!!!
Book of machinery is only there to enlight the fact that Cyan wanted to improved his machinery skills (remember the train). Book of secrets(not 100% sure): go to Figaro Castle and speaks to the scholars. One of them will say: takes five steps from the throne (or something like that). He speaks about the secret switch in Odin castle to find the BlueDragon and the statue that will change Odin in Raiden. -------------------- «À l'aventure compagnons, je suis parti vers l'horizon! The theory of the book of machinery could be true but the book of secret is not true cause I got that scholar to say that even without the book

The Machinery Manual was actually a naughty magazine in the Japanese Version. Woolsey did an unusally good job translating it here, as in both cases you can understand why Edgar gets interested in it
![]() The book of Secrets serves no purpose. -------------------- |

Hmm... everything I've read and been told says the book of secrets is the porno mag. Are you sure it's the other way around?
