I think he's got enough superbosses on his plate as of now, what with the WEAPON collection and all. But still, a well made Magus would rock.

I couldn't agree with you more. ![]() ![]() Quote how bout making atma a playable character (he fights alone, cos hes to big to be a member of the group) Not only would I not know how to do this, but with the amount of original characters and new abilities I am making, I doubt that you would get bored with the characters given to you. Quote Edit: I also just remembered that I read a document written by mnrogar with all the battle text offsets and pointers, and another (credit to Djibriel) that points out several dummied battle messages. I could easily change these and incorporate them into the magus battle, should I ever develop it. ![]() This post has been edited by Caesar on 29th July 2004 04:46 -------------------- Is PJ |

Magus wouldnt have to be a superboss. Just a superHIDDEN one. Like, maybe he only appears in one part of one area, with an ultra-low encounter rate/

Well, his Ruby WEAPON and my W-Lain already do that. Anyway, I think the best place for Magus would be on top of Fanatic's Tower. It's what I'm doing with him...

Quote It's what I'm doing with him... shifty.gif Oooo you're making him into a boss? Awesome! Let me know when you're finished, I want to see it. That means I can either lose the Magus idea compeltely or make him a sprite. We'll see. Also, I think I've solved the palette problem I've been running into recently! Quote Edit: Yes the problem has been isolated...its just a matter of changing the colors now. Just for reference for any sprite makers out there, I don't recommend using the last 4 colors of the palette, since from my experience, they are buggy and gives very very bad results in battle and on the save screen/character select screen. I'm sorry to suggest yet another superboss, but when I read your whole section on the WEAPONs you're putting into your hack, I couldn't resist thinking of FFV's Omega.
Also, I'm recommend against both Mario and Magus, because neither of them fit. You may want to rename "Flare" "Nuke" just to get rid of the elemental-suggesting name. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. Just like in FFIV? I was going to do that later too. I have a whoooole list of things I want to do, but I like to set them aside and then just do like 3 hours of solid work sometime and fix everything. Thanks for the ideas! At the moment, I am looking for spell ideas. Replacements for old spells, mainly. Possibly some new graphic ideas for poison/bio or new spells to replace them...personally I think they're boring. Magic spells available to be changed: poison, drain, bio, break, doom, pearl, x-zone, meteor, W Wind, mute, safe, sleep, muddle, haste, stop, bserk, float, rflect, shell, vanish, haste2, slow2, osmose, warp, quick, antdot. Also, any swdtech ideas suiting dark cecil, or any blitz ideas fitting a ghost are welcome. -------------------- Is PJ |

Age (< < ^ ^ > > V V) A few clocks appear (haste graphic, maybe?) and the Doom skull appears. Causes Slow, Stop, possibly Doom Countdown, ???
Grave (< v > v v v v) : Works just like Possess, 'cept no good vs bosses. Spirit Call (v ^ ^ v < < v > > ) : Bum Rush, basically Evil Toot (v > < Y X ^ L R) : You know what it does. Do you have General Leo as playable? Or perhaps Sigfried? By the way, I've been lurking here for a while and just came out to ask you guys if a FFIV hack exists so that Cecil's sprites are replaced with Golbeze.... and if not, if someone would be able to quickly put one together. . .

Sorry I should've been more specific with what I already have done as far as blitzes go...
I have a skill called possess that works just like possess, except it doesnt bypass death protection. I also have a spell that casts doom on the caster (in this case, the ghost), as incentive to keep the relic ring equipped (who can resist full HP at will?). I don't have evil toot as a blitz *(braces for Djibriel's attack)*, but I did use its graphics for fire dance (red ghosts fly towards the enemy, instead of red chanting sabins flying around). That being said, I could definitely rename Bum Rush to Spirit Call (I like that name...has a nice ring to it), and I may be able to replace mantra with age. Healing doesn't really suit a ghost. After these changes, it'll look something like this: Pummel, AuraBolt, <insert name here> (the undead healing spell...please give suggestions), Fire Dance, Age, Air Blade, Possess (haha I like this...the button combination is "X, A"), Spirit Call I would like to keep fire dance since it is a very, very useful technique, especially during that multiple party fight in the ice fields. Pummel can go, and air blade can go as well, as long as it is replaced by a multi-target damaging attack. Purify: I don't have General Leo as a playable character because I think that idea has become very, very cliched over time. I thought about making Siegfried a character before, but he doesn't have ANY battle graphics, so I would have to make all those...since I don't like sprite editing I decided to elave him as is. Unfortunately, I don't know of a FFIV hack with Golbez as a character, either. However, you are welcome to try my hack which will eventually include Golbez. It's good to see different members are posting here now, instead of just me and WGG. ![]() -------------------- Is PJ |

Haha, you're right about Leo being a cliche by now. I guess I have a thing for "neutral" characters, that is, who happen to be fighting on the side they shouldn't be on.
Hmm, it's too bad there are so many good characters with no battle sprites. Vargas, Gestahl, Ultros, etc..... who've you got in the hack so far? Oh, and what about Duncan? Just use Banon's sprite and give him all the blitzes... and have you considered a playable Kefka, and a different last boss? btw, sorry if I'm repeating ideas, there are a lot of posts to cover and I don't really know what you guys have gone over. But here I was thinking that interest in FF6 was dead, until I find this forum.... |

The original characters I have are Dark Cecil, Ghost, Edge, Golbez, FuSoYa, and Penguin. Edge, FuSoYa, and Golbez are not finished yet; they're being worked on by other members here. I already have a character who uses blitzes (Ghost), so I don't want to be redundant by adding Duncan, too. A playable Kefka and different last boss have been brought to my attention before, but I like the way Kefka ties into the plot. I completely understand your not wanting to read through the 6 pages of posts in this topic, especially since I like to post long posts. Just remember, interest in FFVI is never dead.

Bonestrike might work. Simple, yet effective. I'll probably just leave the stats and graphics the way they are, except lower the power a little and add HP leakage. I'm assuming you got the spirit gun name from Yu Yu Hakusho? Great show, great show. Maybe spirit wave would be better suited though. Still unsure of what to do with that undead HP recovery technique.

Quote Heaven's Light (v < ^ > V < ^ > )- A beam of light comes down, surrounding the user. Heals an Undead by (whatever amount you deam appropriate) The only thing wrong with this is that a move called heaven's light would most likely kill the undead....I made the blitz already, I just need help naming it. For the graphics, I used the black background and lightning from the beginning of phantasm followed simply by the grim reaper from doom/death/roulette. It recovers 100% health since doom does that on an undead. Oh Djibriel I meant to ask you, is there any sure-fire way to target the caster? Right it does a majority of the time, but occasionally it misses him and kills another party member. If not, then I'll just leave it as a risk of using it (either recover all health or kill your teammate...). I'm really really tempted to make one of the greatest moves for Ghost...Dark Matter (from CT). I could just push the other blitzes down the line (e.g. possess, the 7th blitz, now becomes the 6th, air blade is deleted, bum rush becomes the 7th, and dark matter becomes the final blitz). Since grand train was replaced by nuclear, and its graphics look almost identical to Dark Matter's, it would be a very easy tradeoff. Plus, I think Dark Matter would qualify under an attack for the undead. ![]() Quote Edit: BTW, WGG, don't be offended when I turn away one of your ideas or exchange it for a different one...you've given more than your share of great ideas. I always feel guilty when an idea doesn't quite fit what I had in mind, or isn't possible. ![]() This post has been edited by Caesar on 30th July 2004 02:54 -------------------- Is PJ |

I'm too fricking lazy to go look, but TekBarrier comes to mind. If you just copy it's targetting method it should only target the user. The problem you're having is auto-aiming, as Blitz is hardcoded to do so, but even when TekBarrier is used in a Rage Gau/Gogo won't use it on somebody else.

Unfortunately, TekBarrier's targetting method doesn't work here. The first time I used it with that targetting method, it killed my penguin.
![]() Quote Edit: Also, does anybody have ideas for Cecil's SwdTech techniques? So far, I just made Cleave the 7th one and Dark Wave the final one. This may be more difficult to come up with ideas since the movements of Cyan and his sword are already programmed in. I'm still looking for feedback on the Dark Matter idea for Ghost, so I can get to work on changing some stuff. This post has been edited by Caesar on 30th July 2004 15:10 -------------------- Is PJ |

That' weird. I should include that I was bluffing with TekBarrier in Rage, as I just assumed that. I'm sure it's possible. Hang on to your underwear, I'll edit brilliance in later.
What about the Auto-confirm bit? It's sketchy, as Blitz does that anyway, but it should make normal spells auto-hit the initial target. So that could work. This post has been edited by Djibriel on 30th July 2004 19:31 -------------------- |

![]() ... As for SwdTechs.. 1: VacuumEdge: Cecil slashes the air without moving, enemy takes damage. 2. Dark Chi: Airslash, followed by an unarmed-graphic-punch. HtnMtsrgi (short for Hiten-Mitsurugi) Cecil slashes the opponent with the Blaster effect (I think. The one that causes 8 semi-weak hits.) -------------------- Uwao. aooh! I'm Gau! I'm your friend! Ooo I like HadesCall.
![]() Bonestrike SpiritWave HadesCall Fire Dance Invitation (this is the one that induces count and stop..I renamed it from age) Possess SpiritCall DarkMatter Not bad...8 original blitzes for our ghost friend. Should be great. I'm liking the looks of the SwdTechs so far, as well. I will most likely include VacuumEdge, and use the slice graphic from his desperation attack (you know...when the screen turns completely black and then the slash appears...yea that's the one). I will probably keep retort and quadra slam, since they are semi-useful attacks at times. That leaves me with...the 3rd, 5th, and 6th SwdTechs open. I'm thinking I could use a modified form of BreakingPoint: use dispatch's graphics and have it induce muddle and berserk...unblockable, of course. That would leave two slots open. Although I like the idea of all status ailments being induced, it's been done before with other attacks in my hack. Maybe HtnMtsrgi would work, but I'd have to change the name. Maybe Amakakeru Ryu no Hiromeki (I love Rurouni Kenshin). ![]() ![]() -------------------- Is PJ |

Shockwave might work. I would probably use the spinning sword graphics from stunner (before the streaks come down) and then I'll think of something for after that. It'll all work out. I think I'll keep Fire Dance the way it is as far as graphics go. I like the red floating ghosts (also, I think one of mnrogar's custom monsters used a red air blade attack but he called it flare blade or something of the like, IIRC). I included a screen shot of it below, as well as the new-and-improved Dark Wave. Yes, it is the graphics from one of my ideas for a Golbez attack, but I thought it better suited Dark Wave.
