I just Discovered This trick when trying to steal all Elmdor's equipemnt on a Solo game, wich I was finally able to do after my second try smile.gif thanks to Mr.Thou.

Separated into many parts:
  • Explanation
  • Methods
  • The Trick
  • The AI
  • Turns
  • Ways to Inflict Death Sentence to yourself [New]
  • Invinsibility Trap [New]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Explanation:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Like you should know, Death Sentence is a bad status that lets you have two more
turns to act and the third one is death. There are three way of cancelling this, look
under.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Methods:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1- Wearing equipement that prevents Death.
2- Wearing equipement that prevents Death Sentence.
3- Undead Yourself
4- Death Sentenced, then equip something that prevents Death.

What the first and third method do is the following:
When your character countdown falls to zero, instead of killing the character, it
will make Death sentence appear in blue, wich means it wore off.

For the sencond method, you simply cannot be inflicted by Death Sentence, wich
we don't want for the trick.

The fourth Method should be only used if you forgot to equip Anti-Death equipment or if you didn't know you would have to fight against enemys that could add death sentence to your character.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Trick:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just use the first or third method above and get Death Sentenced, Now you have
three free turns to act if you want without have to worry of anything exept your
other party members and counterattacks. Don't forget the magic that are being
casted on one of your character that you can stand next to and take damage.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The AI:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The same data was entered for both Death Sentence and Transparent statuses,
that means that the enemy will completely ignore the presence of the unit
affected by one of these statuses.

So you can choose:
Death Sentence: Three free turns, can't get attacked, can be
counterattacked.
Transparent: One free turn, can't get attacked, can't be counterattacked.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Turns:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Turn 1, Counter drop from 3 to 2, act
Turn 2, Counter drop from 2 to 1, act
Turn 3, Death Sentence Wears off, act
Then you can be attacked like before
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ways to Inflict Death Sentence on yourself: [New]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Death Sentence trap: If you are alone, you can go back on the trap to
regenerate death sentence wich makes you praticly invinsible exept if you get
conterattacked, 100% Guaranteed.
Secret Fist (Monk): This skill has a low percentage and can only be used next
to target, not recommended.
Death Sentence (Mediator): This skill has medium percentage, and can be
used within a range of 3, recommended.
Assasin dagger (Add Death Sentence): Knifes arent powerful,Expecially This
one, but the chance of Inflicting Death Sentence is too low, not recommended.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Invinsibility Trap: [New]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(one unit maximum recommended, can work with two)
1. Find a Death Sentence Trap and Walk go on it. (Add Death Sentence)
2. When your contdown reaches 1, Make sure you will be close enough from the
trap to walk on it again.
3. The turn Death Sentence Vanishes, go back on the Trap.
Loop until all enemies are dead...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'll udate this page in time, you just have to wait...

That's pretty cool! So even if you're behind the enemy and you attack him, he won't retaliate next turn? That's a cool bit of info. Rarely useful, but can be a lifesaver in a tough situation. Theoretically, can't you death sentence your own party members?

Lou: There's a couple of guys fighting down at the aquarium, Chief.
Wiggum: Do they still sell those frozen bananas?
Lou: I think so.
Wiggum: Let's roll.

The Mediator can add Death Sentence with the eponym Talk Skill, the Secret Fist of the Monk, the Holy sword abiliy Split Punch (thank you Zodiac : completely forgot about that one) and you can try hitting someone with an Assassin Dagger.

That's an intersting trick. I can't remember any AI quirk really useful. I only remember making the enemy run away from me by equiping Blade Grasp and raise my Brave to 100 : when the AI has 0% chance of hitting, it doesn't act at all, it only moves away.

yeah but for some reson I found another AI bug some days ago with my solo Ramza:

I had 100 brave with Blade grasp and guess what, theere was 2 dragoon Vs me that were attempting jump from their fartest range and guess what ??? 0% chance and they tstill try, there was nothing useful in their move, they always fell before my turn came so I could hit them to death.

Edit
The only ways I know to Death Sentence a pary members are the two skills Mr Thou and Secret Fist of the Monk, I can't really remmber anything else exept if your dont mind trying Death Punch on yourself happy.gif

The bug is not that your character doesn't get attacked, it's that he won't get attacked even if no other party members are present. It makes sense for the game's AI to not desire to attack characters with death sentence status. After all, they are going to die anyway....

I always liked the Ahriman/Plague Death Sentence command. An automatic 40% success plus whatever the magic attack of the creature is is a pretty good deal. Their MA is pretty decent. Of course, it's sort of a waste to cultivate a fine ahriman/plague just for the purpose of death-sentencing, given the contributing factors, but the whole concept is pretty good.

Good job, Zodiac.

The concept has been around the FFT General/Game Help board for quite awhile. Do you think it'll be accepted?

Umm... you only get two free turns:

Quote
Turn 1, Counter drop from 3 to 2, act
Turn 2, Counter drop from 2 to 1, act
Turn 3, Death Sentence Wears off, act
Then you can be attacked like before

When the counter goes from 1 to Death Sentence wears off, you lose a turn and do not get to move or act. The trick is neat but not as useful as you are making it out to be. In exchange for getting two mainly unmolested (there are some circumstances where the enemy will still attack you) turns, you lose a turn.

Good luck. FFT is in one of the top 10 FAQed games (in terms of K) on all of GameFAQs.

Another neat trick to try:

-Cast Death on yourself when you have high Speed. The enemy will ignore you and you will be able to go again before Death resolves.
