I know it sounds kinda dumb...but i'm curious to know who would win a fight between Velius (Wiegraf) and T.G. Cid (Orlandu). I think they're about equal if they're about the same level

Velius
Short Charge (1\2 Cast time)
Devastating summoning abilities
Powerful Melee Attack
1000+ HP

Orlandu
GODLY Sword Ablilites
Excaliber
HP varies by class and armor
Excaliber
(did i mention the sword abilities?)

Ramza can beat him alone.... Cid can take Ramza to the woodshed himself... so there you go. Cid wins.

Surely wink.gif ,it's like that topic of FF6 with the person who asked in a poll if Terra's hair was green or blonde... Only 86.6% answered green.
I think the result for this poll will look familiar.

If Orlandu isn't equipped with an accessory that stops petrification or whatever then Velius is going to fuck him up hard.

Oh, and Velius has 1200 HP, I believe, so it'll take Orlandu a couple turns to even land the killing blow.

Status effects from the Zodiac monsters tend to be quite nasty (and even from the vastly under rated Oracle class).

If Velius is retarded and starts summoning stupid stuff then Orlandu would win. Status attacks though would wreck a solo character.

Now the story's played out like this. Just like a paperback novel. Let's rewrite an ending that fits.

Well, when you see a poll like this, it's up to your own discretion what equipment the characters have. I envisioned Cid with his equipment that he has when you first get him. Crystal Armor and helmet, bracer, and Excalibur.

Excalibur will give him 2 or three turns before velius. Three lightning stabs= dead Velius.

Rofl no ones voted Velius yet.

Im not going to be the first one. T.G. Cid would wipe velius out in a few turns, even if Velius had is Archaic demons fanning his backside

Probably own him even before he cast any summons

-- Velius --

||| Warlock |||

Type: Monster
Zodiac: Virgo
Level: 31
Move 5 Jump 5 C-EV 18%
HP: 926 - 1005
MP: 192 - 288
PA: 12 - 14
MA: 11 - 13
Speed: 8

Innate: Martial Arts, Short Charge, Cannot enter water,
Vulnerable to: Silence, Don't Move

-- TG Cid --

Level 31 HP 178-190, MP 58-62, PA 10, MA 6, SP 8

Let's see Excalibur has 21 WP and at this point in the game you'd probably give Cid a Twist Headband, Power Sleeve, and Bracer. That gives hims about 350 HP and 17 PA. That's 425 per Lightning Stab and 442 per Holy Explosion.

It's going to take Cid three attacks to kill Velius. It only takes one Seal for Velius to beat Cid. Even without Seal, it only takes Velius two Lich's to beat Cid. I see Velius winning this battle more often but if Lightning Stab inflicts Silence or a lucky critical then Cid can win.

Everything you said stat wise is true, but you forgot that the Excalibur gives Cid Haste. He will have the first turn, then Velius, then two more back to back turns. Im fuzzy on memory, but doesnt Seal have a charge time? If not, Cid will have to stay out of range until his two consecutive turns.... but if Seal has any charge time at all, Velius is toast.

Seal doesn't have any charge time. Also Orlandu has the speed advantage but Velius's Lich has the potential to hit from a further distance. Orlandu has 4 move and Lightning Stab has up to 4 range (or HE for 5 range) while Velius has 5 base move, Lich can be cast up to 4 panels away and then has a splash effect giving Velius the range advantage of 11 to 9. Cid's effective Speed is higher, 12 to 8, but that won't give Cid double turns that often if Velius acts and waits or sits in a corner and waits for Cid to come to him.

Velius doesn't know Night Sword, and that's why he will lose. Cid better watch out for Seal, though.

Ah I forgot about Night Sword. Velius would have to either you Seal or Loss. Confused Orlandu is still all sorts of dangerous though.

Well, if we're doing initial set-ups, I think Velius'll win. Any other time Orlandu will win. A Loss'd Orlandu can't use Night Sword and Velius is free to use Warlock Summon over and over. I guess the fact that all of their skills hit 100% could be each other's bane.

Actually, you'd probably not want to Silence Velius. That forces him to use Fear on you. It's hard to pick which of the two poisons to take, really.
