In my opinion I actualy Liked Majora's Mask better than OOT (Ocarina of Time), mainly because I found that the game had more Replay Value (being able to reface the Bosses for Fun), I liked the Minigames, and SubQuests

A Link to the Past for me! I don't know what it is about that game, but I still prefer it to all the others. Legend of Zelda (1) and Majora's Mask pretty much tie for second place.

I went with Majora's Mask. Though it was a little shorter than most others storywise, the sidequests if you completed them in full make for another game entirely. I don't need to hear about how I'm a graphics whore ect. The Zelda team took the graphics and developed them well. Lot's of good characters, Good puzzles, it was my favorite. Linkt o the past was great too as well as Ocarina of time, but this one had the best characters i think.

I've fully played Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, and Ocarina of Time. That's also the order in which I give them preference.

I have played LoZ, AoL, ALttP, Link's Awakening, and both Oracle Games. I've beaten them all except the first one.
My favorite is ALttP, SNES version. Best replay value, and the classicness of it. -------------------- "I had to write four novels before they let me write comic books." -Brad Meltzer |

I prefer a Link to the Past over all... I like it for the GBA but I like it better for the SNES... Ocarina of Time comes in second but I have to say that the replay value is much better on A Link to the Past.

Link to the past was a classic, but Ocarina of Time had another demension to explore. So my vote goes to OoT.

It almost has to be Ocarina of Time.
It's true that the replayability is low, but you can still MAKE THE KING GORON DANCE an infinite number of times. That NEVER gets old. |

Good point. Something I could never help but do was pop in every now and then and force Darunia to dance his ass off.

Quote (Figaro @ 18th July 2004 12:44) Link to the past was a classic, but Ocarina of Time had another demension to explore. So my vote goes to OoT. i'd have to agree. i played through lttp probably five or six times, and enjoyed it immensely each time i played through, but it never made me say "whoa" like my first time playing through the ocarina of time. given that i only played through oot three times, i still think it was a better game -- a lot more in-depth, and a lot more cutting-edge. still, both of these games (as well as many, many of the other games listed) are absolute classics and have stood the test of time. now, who can't wait for the new non-celda game for the gc? that game looks ![]() |

Link to the Past for me as well. I absolutely loved the first one when it came out and I actually still play it on occasion, but I have fonder memories of LttP. It was a true masterpiece.

I beat Zelda 1 & 2, LttP and OoT. I played WW. My favorite is also Link to the Past. The dungeons in that game have the best design by far in my opinion, and the music is perfect. Nothing is cooler than the stereo sound effects of the spinning beam that comes out of the sword! I've had my big stereo since the SNES days and... wow. Ocarina of Time is good too but roaming the fields just isn't as engaging or fun as in Link to the Past. It's too big and there's not enough enemies. Plus nothing is more frusterating than roaming around in a 3D dungeon not knowing what to do or where to go. The original Zelda for the NES was cool for it's time but the release of LttP suddenly made that game obsolete. Zelda 2 is weird.

"The Legend of Zelda" is a very good game, and one of the long-term games that I replay often. I love the 8-bit animation, and the simplicity of the fighting allows for a great deal of challenge.
The portable versions have all done a good job at keeping the spirit of "A Link to the Past" alive, and are nice little diversions from the all to serious (and all to lacking in action) direction the games have been taking recently. I think that "Wind Waker" was a good attempt to get back to basics and off the 3D high horse. All in all, "A Link to the Past" is by far my favorite of the games. The graphics are snug and comfortable enough to allow your imagination to take over and send you to Hyrule, while also being lush and highely enjoyable in their own right; the vistas are oft increadible (especially when you get those magic token things). The gameplay is, at once, revolutionary and in keeping with the original spirit of the Zelda series. The fighting isn't a waste of time or repetitive, and is both challenging and enjoyable. Items arn't one use, and neither did the design team stick in extra obsticles simply because they hadn't filled their quota of song based puzzels for a given area; each item adds functionality to all aspects of play. The storyline is neither melodramatic nor simplistic, and makes you sympathize with the charecters. Such elements as the opening rainy scene and the scene leading up to your confrontation with Agahnim are classic. More than any other Zelda game, A link to the past shows you the depth of the magic of hyrul. Hyrul isn't just Zelda, Link, Ganon, and the trifoce, but layer upon layer of history; the dark world is strewn with forgotten and lost persons, each having a story and lesson to tell, and each casting shadows of themselves into the light world. I still remember my amazement when I actually met the little bot in the glade in the dark world, and the wonder I felt when I played the ocarina and watched his transformation. A Link to the Past is everything that was good in gaming, to which the Zelda series owes much of it's endurance and legend. This post has been edited by Iain Peregrine on 25th July 2004 17:36 |

Before stopping to think about it, I'd say Link to the Past, because that's been my automated response for years. When I actually compare games, however, I find I liked more about Ocarina of Time. It's similar in many ways, but 3D, and done well in 3D to boot. Ocarina gets my vote.

Ocarina of time, hands down. I've played that game so many times and it still doesn't get old. I love the ending...
Possible spoilers: highlight to view What with the cancan dancing gerudoes and juggling chickens and whatnot. I didn't like Majora's mask as much. I was a little angry that they made nearly everyone look like OOT charecters, and I don't like them straying from the Gannon vrs Zelda and Link plot. -------------------- TURKEY! - (The only way not to get blocked for using Fowl Language) |
