I'm at the Ancient Castle and I'm wondering if I leave the place will I be able to go back to it? I'm also wondering what you guys did when you got the Odin magicite? Did you guys keep him as Odin or did you guys transform him into Raiden?

Yes, you can go back. Alot of people prefer Odin because of his level-up bonus. I don't really play that way, so I get Raiden for completeness.

I always transform him. Not sure why. Probably under the assumption that Raiden is harder to get, and therefore better.

Well he does offer a spell you can't get otherwise. Odin's Meteor spell can be obtained through Crusader or Bahamut I believe...Memory...Failing...

Raiden is better then Odin: while more expensive (70 MP vs 80 MP), it's Hit Rate is better and 6ill therefore work more often: 110 vs 140.

i think it's a matter of preference. if you like Odin, keep him the same.if you like Raiden, change him. i usually change him so I can get Quick.

Basically, here's what I do. I use Odin for the Speed Bonus until I'm satisfied with what I gained or until my levels get high enough, then I switch to Raiden. Everybody wins!

Sounds good, Tryscal. Oh, and don't forget to look around for the Dragon (forget which one) as long as you're there, TreasureHunter.

The Water/Aqua Dragon, or whatever his name is? Oh, yeah. Fight him after you get Odin, to get some points towards the Meteo spell.

Another thing that I'm not sure if these people mentioned... not only does Odin give you a speed bonus, but he is the ONLY esper that gives you a speed bonus at level up... so if you want to make your party faster through Espers, your only chance to do it is with Odin.

When talking "speed bonus", we're referring to the bonus you receive every time you receive a level. There's really no other way an Esper gives any stat boosts.

Speaking about increases in character attributes, how does each attribute increase per level with no espers?

Quote (SuperManBoy @ 17th July 2004 19:05) Speaking about increases in character attributes, how does each attribute increase per level with no espers? HP and MP can be found at my site. They're set gains, the only variance being in a character's starting HP/MP. Vigor thru Mag.Pwr... they don't increase. -------------------- |

One more thing, I am not sure if this has been asked before:
Some espers give strength increases on level up, but there is no strength attribute. What does it increase then? -------------------- "Look at me! I'm a receptionist! G'fa ha ha!" Quote Ultros |

It's probably some bad thinking from Ted Woolsey's side. It's Vigor that increases on the level up.

"Five steps down from the queen's throne", as I remember...
Anyways, the dragon you're thinking of is the Blue Dragon, one of the eight legendary dragons and the dragon of water. I personally prefer to use Odin to teach everyone Meteor (even though x1), because by the time I get Crusader (x10), I'm already in Kefka's tower, and I don't want to bother to give it to everyone and random-battle just to learn magic. Besides, I don't care for Merton. It's a cool-looking spell, but unwieldy, since it also hurts your own party.
