For me it was between Aeris and Celes, though for the majority of the time both of them are more of the stand-up and take-charge kind of women than the damsel in distress type. I'd say that that whole list is characterized by strong independent females.
...oh yeah, and I picked Aeris. This post has been edited by Ejoty on 13th July 2004 23:37 -------------------- Get me off this Disciplinary Committee so I can play any FF except for FF8!!! |

For me, it's a toss-up between Celes, Terra, and Rydia, although I woudn't consider any of the three "damsels", per se. Actually, they're the only characters on the list that haven't gotten on my nerves one too many times (well, except for Lenna/Reina, but I just never liked her).
Anyway, I chose Celes. -------------------- Words of Wisdom: If something can go wrong, it will. If anything simply cannot go wrong, it will anyway. I picked Celes as well, but because she's not a damsel in distress. She's a damsel in a dress - with two swords and several jagged spires of ice armed and ready to dish out some pain.

I say Celes because she is not your prototypical damsel in distress. She is a warrior and general and someone not in need of help, but Locke saved her pretty little neck.

Celes. She got herself into trouble, took help when she needed it, and proceeded to significantly contribute to saving the world to repay the favor.
I wouldn't call most of these people a damsel in distress. The fact that a female character at some point in time requires the aid of someone else hardly places them in that category. Some of them are blatantly inappropriate. Yuna? How is she in distress? She's completely in charge of her own destiny. She's living her own mission, and the fact that teamwork is required hardly makes her helpless. -------------------- Veni, vidi, dormivi. |

IMO out of that bunch, Rosa seems to be the only person that actually has a "helpless" characteristic to her. It was like she couldn't do anything without Cecil being there. She played the role pretty stereotypically, acting all helpless when Cecil first left Baron (when she ended up in Kaipo with the sand fever) and when she gets captured by Golbez, costing Cecil the Earth Crystal. She was truly a weak character when it comes to story. I can't think of any other character in Final Fantasy that plays into the whole damsel in distress role as much as her.

I liked Rinoa. Mostly because of her dog. It looked like my dog. I like %ogs.
