Yeah, there's only 2 choices. Oh well.

Which one did you enjoy more?

Triple Triad was more enjoyable to me because I really couldn't figure out any tactics to discover which cards were more powerful in Tetra Master.  It'd seem as though I'd have this big expensive powerful card, and then it'd be defeated by like "Oglop" or something.  Triple Triad was great, especially if you avoided fighting people who liked randomly switching the rules on you (Plus, the music was awesome).

Ugh, who in their right mind would vote for the FF9 game?  That sucked royally compared to Triple Triad, one of FF8's saving graces.  I loved that card game, it was really tough to get all the cards, and actually rewarding unlike the FF9 card game which is worthless.

I enjoyed FF8's far more. If you're good at simple arithmetic then you become good at it fairly easily. In contrast to FF9's, in which it was all random generated numbers and crap. I hated it. Especially how a card could be completely different from another of the same type. I actually had a lot of fun with Triple Triad, but Tetra Master just frustrated me. It had no skill required besides where to match up the arrows.
You could have a card with an 8 go up against a 2, and you'd have a super high number like 123, the other guy would get a 16, and somehow the 123 would go down to 0 super fast and the other guy's would win. How asinine. '>_<'

Actually, Tetra Master wasn't random... the Hp was the defense stat and depending on your strength you take out more hp, etc. I preferred it, although Triple Triad was more useful.

Although I hated 8, I played the card game more than I did in 9. So Triple Triad gets my vote.

Yeah, but how come the generated number was different all the time then? And what determined how fast a card degenerates?

You meant your current HP in the actual game, right? So confusing...

Actually, I meant the HP of the card, which is its defense stat. The little numbers actually mean something! It's quite confusing, though, I'll admit. But then again, look at Triple Triad. You can get massacred by a level 1 card because of "plus" rules. I never bothered to figure out anything past "Same". '^_^'

Oh! I knew that. First one is attack, second is if it's magic or physical, third is physical defense, and 4th is magic defense.

I was talking about the numbers that appear when you "fight" another card. And what determines them. Exactly, i mean.
One time, it's 58 the next, its 62. And how come the it goes down so quickly sometimes and slow others?
Anyone?

Like I said with plus, you just have to be good with simple arithmetic. It's a bit harder without open, but it still works the same.

You actually did get rewards in Tetra Master! Winning the tournament in Treno nets you a Rebirth Ring, which is really useful!

Strangely enough, I just had the Treno card tournament today, and I managed to beat the Oglop Master on my first try.  I'd never beaten her before, and I wasn't planning on spending time trying, but I also didn't know that you got something good out of it.

Oops, sorry, my post was slightly confusing.  What I meant to say was that I had never beaten her on previous times playing through the game, but on my current game, I wasn't even trying and I steal managed to defeat her.  I would've tried harder on those previous games had I known that I would receive the ring, like I did this time.

I voted for Triple Triad -- the card game the best thing about FF8, except the fact that the game does eventually end.

I hated Tetra Master, it drove me nuts trying to figure out the game. Triple Triad was pretty good as long as some of the annoying rules weren't in effect.

I won't vote, since I never played FF 9, but in my opinion it were rules like Plus and Same that kept the game of Triple Triad interesting. All you had to was picking up Diablos, Seifer and Ifrit at the beginning of the game and you were invincible. That's no fun.

Nah, I greatly enjoyed battling those Card Club guys with pretty much every rule there was. I sometimes lost, which increased the fun since you had to win them back in games where they carried Odin or Selphie or whatever. The only truly annoying rule-related thing was when 'Open' got deleted for some reason. The CPU still acts as if it knows your cards, while you can't see theirs. With Plus and without Open, you lose.

Edea, Squall, Seifer, Alexandr and Phoenix/Kiros...I love this team.

Triple Triad gave you more for you efforts, namely the card refining. However, it's an unbalanced game because only the top tier cards guaranteed any win, and you can get those very easily.

Tetra Master at least had more lively cards. You could keep the same minimum amount of cards the whole game and max their potential instead. There was no uber card, even Hades loses because it gets tired. Yep, your cards actually fatigued, so you can't overuse a certain card.

Wow, 2 years later...but yeah I still love Triple Triad. With Tetra Master, you could say it was more "strategic" because of the randomness and card "fatigue", but it got to the point of just plain aggrevation and wasn't very fun. Plus and Same made Triple Triad "teh 4W3s0M3".

Edit: Heh, so I joined on June 30th, yet I made a topic on the 29th. Skill.

I liked Tetra Master the best. You didn't have to have a billion strategies per city, the cards are more individualized, and there was a randomness in it that wasn't as irritating as the Triple Triad Rules. Another plus is that Tetra Master isn't as addicting as Triple Triad, and not as required.
