ok. final fantasy 7 has 2 be the best. largest ratings of all. i was really looking forward to the sequal but its only a film. that pissed me off a tad.
also ffX-2. i was kinda looking forward to that 2. the chocobos were almost non - existant. and where the hell are the male characters. i know all us women have been moaning about how its always a male main character. but they've gone from one extream to the other. WHERE HAVE THE OLD DAYS GONE? xXXx |

If you're that disappointed by Advent Children, you don't even want to know about the prequel for FF7 that's going straight to cell-phones (check our news archives for details if you want to know.)
I know I'm a minority with this around here, but I really liked FFX-2. It didn't matter to me that you couldn't play male characters. They were still present, anyway, in the forms of Buddy, Brother, Shinra, Baralai, Gippal, and Nooj. But I know it's also a change. Not only do you have just female characters that are playable, you only have 3 characters, period. I didn't mind it, but I can see others getting upset over it. What happens if you don't like a character? You can't just pretend she/he doesn't exist anymore. On a better note, there is another installment of Final Fantasy coming out that isn't a sequel (or MMORPG) in the way of FFXII, and fortunately, it seems to have a large enough cast of characters of both sexes. So the complaints have switched back to the typical "the main character looks stupid" and "I don't like their outfit". -------------------- I had an old signature. Now I've changed it. |

Click here and it'll take you to the page about the FF VII prequel that is on Cellular phones only... personally I think it's really stupid. I was also disappointed that FFVII AC is going to be a movie but I'm still looking foward to it very much.

i just like the more traditional versoins.
i'm quite dissapointed that ff r going to cell phones. not alot of people have the money to go out and buy a new cell phone. expecially over here. y cant they just keep em 2 computer consoles. like ps, ps2, pc? xXXx p.s: i never thought the outfits were stupid. |

Game or not ff7:AC is gonna be a good seller. and i have a feeling they are going to bring out something during the release of ff7:AC or after it about some more ff7 stuff, as i notice there ff7 page is gone and has been gone for nearly over a year now. ffx-2 was a good game.. you never gonna know when a game is gonna be good or not untill it's out. that's just my 2 cents.

I never really saw the point of a sequel to FFVII, anyway. They may have ended it in a dumb way, but they still ended it pretty solidly. At least there was some unfinished story--a reason for the characters to continue to matter--with FFX-2.
As for the cell-phone thing, I'd bet you dollars to doughnuts that you can get it in emulation inside of six months. -------------------- Veni, vidi, dormivi. |

I hadn't even thought of that... but you guys are right, a cell phone is a horrible way to go with the prequel (not that the prequel itself is a good idea anyway). The only people that will buy a cell phone to play it will be the Japanese population... I'm not even sure though, that they are even bringing it to America because it was only announced for Japan... everyone just assumed that it would eventually come out in America, that's what I heard anyway, correct me if I'm wrong. -------------------- Climhazzard is the timeless evil robot who runs some of the cool stuff at CoN (mostly logging chat, since there are no quizzes at the moment), all the while watching and waiting for his moment to take over the world. -Tiddles |

I'm not sure about the capabilities that a cell phone has for a game like FF VII, so I doubt I'd even bother playing an emulated version. -------------------- Don't worry, I'm not going to garrote you. |

The prequel of FF7 I think that was called somethin' Before Crisis FF7, putting it on cell phones... What if your parent don't have no stinkin' cell phone!?
and anyways having a video game in a cell phone isn't the same as on tv or a gameboy anyway... but the did put thought into this one, a BAD thought!!!!! think about the fans! SHEESH!!!!! FFX-2 was better than that! only on a cell phone AC...I hate AC This post has been edited by Dragon Lancer on 9th July 2004 02:51 -------------------- Auron might be good, but I'm better...=p* My first visits....: *Returning from home-Returner *Trying to find a Cactuar Costume for Halloween-Cactuar *Treasure hunting for more shiny things, & candy-Treasure Hunter Current Location: *Crusading hell, I want to assasinate Satan but don't tell him what my plan is okay....?-Crusader |

Honestly I don't really think there is much point of making a sequel for FF7, there is just no point. The story finished and the world was saved, you can't keep a story going when there is nothing else to fight, nothing else to save. So I think a movie is a good idea, to me it looks like the film version of FF7 with some extra characters and events not seen in the game.
If im wrong about making a sequal, tell me what the story could continue, what could be next, what enemy should Cloud fight next. As for the prequal I think it woul be alot better to put it on Game Cube or Playstation, I don't have a mobile and i think mobile games are better as platform games, like Crash Bandicoot or some game like that. |

You actually don't know if the world is saved or what. They never explain ANYTHING other than in 500 years Midgar is grown over into jungle and Red XIII has a few kids and is still alive.

Okay, because explicitly discussing the ending isn't going to ruin anyone's fun at all. The plot to a sequel would have to be pretty impressive for me to care. If they went further with explaining the ending, that might be one way to do it. Bringing back Sephiroth, as some of the media has suggested, would make me roll my eyes in disgust. On the other hand, Lunar 2 was a good game, despite Possible spoilers: highlight to view If a sequel to FFVII did something like that, it might not completely blow.bringing Ghaleon back from the dead, because they a) had an excellent plot justification, and B) far overshadowed him as a threat with everyone else in the game, and c) involved him with an entirely new set of characters. I think Advent Children will sell well. I don't think the cell phone release of a prequel will do very well at all. As an aside to that, I think it's almost insulting that they would release it on cell phones only. Not a good way to improve customer loyalty, but it's their company, so whatever....
Back to what Elana was saying about the male/female roles (or lack thereof) in FF and other games... I personally don't care if I'm playing a male or female, as long as the story is engaging and the game is plot driven and not graphics driven. I didn't enjoy X-2 because, to use the words of Brian Clevinger, it was like playing a PG rated version of "pretty princess dress-me-up". The fact that it was a female lead and dominant female cast was totally irrelevant... it was just poorly done. -------------------- Join the Army, see the world, meet interesting people - and kill them. ~Pacifist Badge, 1978 |
