What’s your most powerful FFT party of five, not including special characters (Agrias, Beowulf, Byblos, Cloud, Malak, Meliadoul, Mustadio, Orlandu, Rafa, Reis, or Worker 8) or their special Jobs? Which abilities do you give these five characters?
![]() Secondary: Throw, Jump, or Draw Out Reaction: Blade Grasp or Hamedo Support: Two Swords Movement: Move +3 This Knight is an unstoppable melee fighter with excellent range, and he can also do significant damage at a distance. Throw is more predictable than Jump, with its random CT, but if you’re trying to save money, Jump is the way to go. Blade Grasp makes him well defended against physical attacks, but if you’re willing to forgo the evade bonus, Hamedo can be nasty with Two Swords. With two swords or knight swords, this character can eliminate many enemies in one turn. Moreover, you can attempt a Battle Skill twice in one turn, once per weapon. If you succeed the first time in destroying equipment, you’re going to deal HP damage with the other weapon. At the very least, you get two tries to break equipment. Obviously, you want a melee fighter to have good movement range. ![]() Secondary: Steal or Elemental Reaction: Catch or Blade Grasp Support: Equip Armor Movement: Move +3 or Ignore Height The Ninja’s excellent speed rating makes her ideal for stealing valuable equipment. If you have a lot of throwable items, this character can be a very useful long-range attacker. Even if you don’t need the equipment, stealing (especially weapons) can hamper a warrior’s efforts. Catch is good against other Ninja; instead of getting killed by a thrown weapon, you catch it and keep it. This is one of the easiest ways to cripple Ninja and get valuable items (like Chaos Sword) in the Deep Dungeon. Unless you have equipment that increases the Ninja’s speed, I recommend Equip Armor for its HP boost, which compensates for this class’s natural low HP. Ignore Height can put this character out of melee range where it can throw weapons and possibly use the 0 MP, 0 CT Elemental skill. ![]() Secondary: Black Magic Reaction: Counter Flood, Absorb Used MP, or Auto Potion Support: Short Charge Movement: Move +3 or Ignore Height It’s the ultimate attack wizard. Counter Flood is better than Counter Magic, because its trigger is any HP damage, not just Black Magic. Absorb Used MP can be useful if you are fighting enemies that use a lot of spells. Auto Potion is a good Reaction ability if you’re having trouble keeping this character in a safe HP range. Short Charge is a must for magic. Move +3 enables him to keep out of range, but the Ignore Height ability can be useful for the same reasons I explained for the Ninja. ![]() Secondary: Time Magic Reaction: Absorb Used MP or Auto Potion Support: Short Charge Movement: Move +3 or Ignore Height He has better attack range with the stick weapons. Not only can you do some rotten things to enemies with Yin Yang Magic, but you have Time Magic at your disposal, as well. Between this character and the Summoner, you have the magical field well covered. ![]() Secondary: White Magic/Battle Skill Reaction: Auto Potion Support: Short Charge/Concentrate Movement: Move +3 Laugh all you want at the choice of Job. This is the best healer you could have. Not only do you have good range and 0 CT for items, but you can also cast White Magic quickly. Most of the time, items are sufficient for healing, but occasionally, you will want to time a cure spell to work after some other enemy’s attack but before your next turn, and you can’t do that with items, because they must be used immediately. Auto Potion is very effective when you keep a good stock of the best potions available in shops. If you don’t mind not having White Magic, and if you have guns, try equipping this character with a gun and giving him Battle Skill. You’d be surprised how easily enemies’ equipment can be destroyed with a gun. More successful than the Archer’s bow and Battle Skill (which was still better than the Knight’s sword and Battle Skill). Also, guns have excellent attack range. Concentrate greatly increases the effectiveness of this combination. Usually, the characters whose equipment you want to destroy are warriors, which are well defended against physical attacks like swords, but not so well against bows, and almost not at all against guns. The high movement ability ensures that you’ll be able to get to almost any ailing party member, especially if you equip an accessory that increases movement, such as Germinas Boots (Move +1, Jump +1). Germinas Boots are actually great for any character. This post has been edited by Magicite on 27th June 2004 06:39 -------------------- The world before the fall... Delightful is the light of dawn... I'm not going to even get started on equipment, but here's my fav party to beat the game, sans special characters:
Knight ------- Secondary Skillset: Jump Reaction: Blade Grasp Support: Two Swords Movement: Move +3 Lancer -------- Secondary Skillset: Draw Out Reaction: Blade Grasp Support: Attack Up or Two Hands Movement: Move +3 Ninja ------ Secondary Skillset: Battle Skill Reaction: Blade Grasp or Sunken State Support: Attack Up Movement: Move +3 Samurai --------- Secondary Skillset: Jump Reaction: Blade Grasp Support: Attack Up or Two Hands Movement: Move +3 Ninja (Female) -------------------------- Secondary Skillset: Draw Out Reaction: Sunken State Support: Attack Up or Steal Movement: Move +2 Use your imagination with the equipment each of them uses. I have my own special mix, but most of you would probably be able to predict it. ![]() It's all a matter of style, though, when you ask a group of people what their "best" party consists of. Personally, I wouldn't piss on a wizard if he were on fire... but that's just me. I love physical, strength based teams. It is extremely difficult for me to put together a working strategy from a tactical standpoint if I have even one magic user in my party. I just hate em'. I like everybody's choice of their 5-person parties (multiplayer would be neat). Mine is:
Samurai- Draw Out Black Magic (with relatively high Faith) Auto-Potion Two-Swords Move HP-Up Ninja- Throw Steal Return Damage Equip-Armor Teleport Priest- White Magic Summon Magic MP Switch Magic Defend Up Move MP-Up Knight- Battle Skill White Magic (with relatively high Faith) Blade Grasp Maintenance Move/Jump+3 Chemist (underrated)- Item Battle Skill (with Guns/Spell Guns equipped) Sunken State Attack Up Move-Find (with relatively low Brave) A well-rounded and balanced party of Fighters, Mages, and versatile Treasure Hunters. Everybody has a bit of everything with their innate abilities not-forgotten. I might be criticized for having a Ninja and another double-weapon-weilder, but I think the versatility of the entire party more than makes for it. Your's are pretty good, too. The only thing I can find remotely off-place is putting a movement skill dependant on low brave with a reaction skill that benefits from high brave. If you only put Move-Find for non-trap reasons, then it's all good.

The Two Sword ability is so powerful that you should use it on any non-mage who has learned it. (For mages, I prefer the Short Charge ability.) You’ll notice that my party has a Ninja and a Knight with Two Swords. -------------------- The world before the fall... Delightful is the light of dawn... Noble is the heart of man... |

Yes... Two Swords definetly rocks. I think I'm going to teach Reis the Equip Knife ability and let her stay a Dragoner with the inherent Two Swords, rather than make her a Lancer. *sigh*

Indeed.
![]() Reis is the stacked character of the game, stat-wise. I'm pretty sure that in most things, her stats beat even Orlandu. (except for possibly PA? anyone wanna confirm that?) If you leave her in her Dragoner class with no weapons, though, she still has decent attack damage, plus the ability to tame monsters. -------------------- Join the Army, see the world, meet interesting people - and kill them. ~Pacifist Badge, 1978 |

Oh and for the teammy choice is:
- Ramza - Ramza - Ramza - Ramza - Ramza Only him alone can wipe out anything in 1 hit Equip: Iga Knife (Highest Knife Power) Koga Knife (Highest Knife Power) Thief Hat (+2 speed) Secret Clothes (+2 speed, Transparent(useless)) Germinas Boots (+1 move, +1 Jump) Final Stats: 21 Speed, 33 PA, 18 MA Skills: Throw Draw Out Anything, no time get hit anyway Concentrate (always 100% hit) Move +3 Start up with masamune, (haste regen), then follow with kiyomori (protect, shell) Then you have the choice Move 8 space, then throw at 8 range squares having 100%hit, pierces sheild and accessories evade/block If you didn't know, throw range equals MOVE in this case wich is 8, you can throw 8 squares far Or, doing a cooler move, get on any side of the opponenet then strike with your Super powerful ninja swords in my case, it deal 2 stikes of 300 damage if you changed your mind because of counter reaction, just throw a chaos blade of something else No worries about bad status, the enemies never had the time to cast speels at me. Exept the SO ANNOYING INNOCENT STATUS, stupid oracle i dont use magic and now they can only use their rods againts me Well that's it, enjoy Ramza the killing Machine. OR A summoner that learned, maxed on MP and MA with Short Charge Equipped and 4 Mimes. That Team defenitely Owns anything in the way This post has been edited by Zodiac on 3rd July 2004 12:13 -------------------- Sayonara |
