i think ff6 is an awesome game but ive always thought the first half was slightly more intriguing than the second half for some reason. its like the first half had better flow and once the world got destroyed i was like ok.....so now im rescuing a stupid dead world?
dont get me wrong i love the whole game, just i like the first half more than the second half. |

I like both a lot. I can't really decide which I like better. The WoB has a more linear storyline, which is okay, but it's fun to run around and do whatever sometimes. Most of the best plot moments are toward the beginning of the game. On the other hand, I think the WoR has a cooler setting, and I like collecting the characters again.

Not only do I like the WoB better, but I also like the first airship better too. I only dislike it becuase the items aren't nearly as good as the WoR.

I have more favorite moments from the World of Balance.

The World of Balance had so much more story, character interaction, and music that there's really no competition in my mind.

I love the plot twists and character development in the WoB, but I equally like the sidequests, item hunting, and the resolving of character's storylines in the WoR. WoB is more straightforward, but the nonlinearity of the WoR puts you more in control of what happens when.

Desicions... Descions...
I say WOB. It had more of a set story to learn and follow whereas WOR you basically knew what to do (Get airship, kill kefka) and the rest was just tidying up so to speak. WOB gets my vote for sure! -------------------- ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Midsummer dreamer, Fantasy weaver, Wild thing, Noble king, Spell caster, Muggle Master ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ |

Definitely the World of Balance. The plot is more coherent, and the airship is a lot nicer. However, I’ve half-played the game so many times that I now look forward to the World of Ruin, simply because I haven’t played through it as many times.

WOB, without a doubt. There was alot of neat gameplay, and new ideas in the WOB, such as the three party split after the returners base, and the Opera. The music was nicer and the towns more fun as well. Also I miss the little, "G'ho customers! Need some refreshment?" guy on my airship. He was a lifesaver.

good answers, yea i have to say i really like when the party splits up into three separate paths in the WOB, thats one of my favorite parts of the game. I also like in WOR tho when you get to split into several groups for the Phoenix Cave and Kefka's tower.
i still maintain that WOB is slightly more fun than WOR. |

WoB cause you have to play thru the thing all in one storyline(unlike WoR, which you get the airship and then do whatever you want)
And it's Green, has trees, that ARENT dead, deceased, gone, withered, and is prettyer than WoR, and has a better Airship has a Veldt that has GRASS, and is green, Is much better than WoR etc. etc. well, in my opinion of course |

I think World of Ruin is more intruiging due to it's open-ended nature, more variant quests/things to do. It's more like a Western RPG than an Eastern RPG in those aspects and it's pretty refreshing.

As in Storyline/Plot/etc: WoB. The WoB has a more flowing story. The WoR is more about leveling up and preparing for the final boss, and the story will only be as large as you want it to be.
As in World/Map/Appearance: WoB. There is something instinctive that makes me shy away from that wasteland appearance. -------------------- "I had to write four novels before they let me write comic books." -Brad Meltzer |

I voted WoB, but of course both have their bright sides. The WoB has a lighter atmosphere, is prettier, has a better airship, and a more concrete storyline. Then again, the WoR leaves lots of choice up to the player as to where the game goes, has all the butt-kicking items, and ties up most of the characters' loose ends. It's close, but I just prefer the WoB.

![]() Hands down, the WoB is the more favorable world. The WoR is not as pretty as the WoB and that's just the beginning of it's problems. The concepts behind the WoR are nice. Collecting all the characters again in a shattered world is a great idea (although it was a lot more fun when you didn't know where they were). The "Searching For Friends" airship tune also lifted up the WoR, and there's a lot of treasure hunting to be had. However the WoB is more fun because of all the character interaction, something sorely lacking from the WoR. I hate how in the WoR when you find a character your whole group in general says something, and then the character you're picking up says stuff to the general party. That's so lame. The WoR wasn't brought to it's fullest potential. Maybe deadlines caused the people at Squaresoft to rush at the end, because the WoR was done kinda half-a**ed. When looking at the element of design in this game it's evident that much more time and thought went into the WoB. I think we can legitimately draw that conclusion without knowing anything about the actual design process. I mean, the opera scene alone was probably a hefty piece of work. The 3 scenarios took a lot of story integration and 2 out of 3 had highly involved sub-stories. Things like that are what make the game great. If all of FFVI was like the WoR it would have been no better than FFV. -------------------- FFXI (Siren server) Tauu the Windurstian Tarutaru! White Mage & Paladin |

There is something about the bleakness and desolation in the WoR that makes it that much more interesting in my opinion, though I do prefer the WoB music score when walking around in the field.

It is too tough of a decision to make, but I like them both, mainly because of their themes, so I like them both.

I especially miss the Phantom Forest and the "zany ways to get around" without the airship. Not sure if many people remembered about accidentally taking the ship to occupided Figaro and the merchants putting you in a treasure chest. Can't beat that!

The WoB was definitely better contructed, but I enjoyed the WoR better. It was just so bleak and empty feeling. It was fun to explore and see what happened to everyone.
