This is my first time playing FF6, I was wondering....
I'm about to go to the floating continent. My characters are around level 22 or 23. I was wanting to do some level building before going. Where would be a good place to do it, and what level does everyone recommend? Edit: Whoops! Got my Roman numerals mixed up, lol. Boy do I feel dumb. ![]() I meant to post this in the ff6 forum. ![]() Is there any way to move this topic or anything? Well to begin with- The Mods will move this No Doubt.
As per Leveling up- For Magic I would suggest First Going to the Triangle Island And Mastering Espers With a Few Characters. The Intangir gives you 10 Ap per Battle- No EXP though sadly. Its just good For magic. Have a Character with Optimally 1000+ Hp use doom on him- The battle starts with him Vanished and Asleep. So a Doom results in his death- Before he dies However He casts Meteo on the Character who casted doom- Meteo usually Does 1000 or so Damage to me. If you wake him up with Other magic that isnt instant Death he Just Casts Meteo On your WHOLE party before Going back to sleep. After Getting some magic i Suggest you Just go Play around on the Continent itself. Theres a place on it where you can return to the Airship. Pre Continent I suggest having each character around 1500 Hp. Celes Is a Good Part Choice beacus -SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER IF YOU DONT WANT YOUR GAME POSSIBLY SPOILED DO NOT READ!!!! Possible spoilers: highlight to view After the floating Continent The world is destroyed and shes the only character you Have initially. Also her level effects all other characters you get after her. If you didnt read that, just trust me. Use Celes. Thats all I got for you. Good Luck. ![]() -------------------- If you've been mod-o-fied, It's an illusion, and you're in-between. Although the auto-Vanish from Intangir would in fact bring Break a little closer to working on Intangir, there's still Intangir's Stone protection to consider. So yeah, Break won't work. Moreover, he'll be visible and not suspectible to your average instant-death spell, meaning that you'll have to eat at least one Meteo before killing him.

Use Gau's Rhodox rage on the Intangir, Gau will eventually use 'snare', which prevents Intangir from conterattacking with Meteo.

If you're looking for good level recommendations as well, I like to have my characters from 28 to 30 (around that) when I go to the Floating Continent. Good luck!

The levels youre characters should be at are 30-40. I had my characters at 35 when I did the F.C. I do Reccomend bring Edgar with the chainsaw and a character with genji glove or 2 char. (Terra and/or Mog work.)

Of course, the level you will 'need' depends on your own experience with the game. If you're just a random button masher, then 30-40 might not be such a bad idea. The game delivers you at the portals of the Flying Continent around level 25 (unless you leveled up somewhere), and it is entirely possible to fight your way through the Flying Continent and its boss at the end.

Best leveling in the WoB is in the gathering place of the espers, and outside isn't all that bad (that is, if you don't want to muck around on the floating continent). Added to that you get very decent magic points from the monsters there (very common to have 3 to 4 per fight).

If you have all of the available Espers, good armor/weapons, and a good handle on the game, you don't need to be past level 22.

Considering you can beat the game at level 10 with three party members, levels aren't really an issue with this game.

I had my characters at an average of lvl 22 at the Flying Continent on my first playing of the game. ...it was all a bit of a mess really. Somehow I stumbled my way through.

Although it is possible to complete the floating continent at level 10, I wouldn't call it an adequate level, and the context makes it clear exactly what the original poster was asking about. Levels DO matter when you are playing this game normally, so let's not be misleading to people who are playing this for the first time.

I disagree with the bring Celes statement. Slight Spoiler follows:

Ya know, if you want to be sorta cheap, and defeat Atma really easily, get Cherub down, (From the auction house) and wall rings, and bring Mog with you, I guarentee Atma will be cake with these relics and Mog. I couldn't belive how easy he was. Get potions though If you want to heal, cause the wall rings will deflect cure.

Ancient I disagree. One less party member isn't anything to cry about. Its all easy anyway. 3 members, 4 members, FF6 was easy anyway. Viva La EV2!

Don't forget, the game wasn't designed based on people exploiting it.
I had a bit of trouble the first time I played the game, mind you I didn't have much experience with these game types and didn't always know what was going on. -------------------- "Look at me! I'm a receptionist! G'fa ha ha!" Quote Ultros |

The first time I played it through I gave up at the Guardian. I thought that if Leo couldn't take it down then I couldn't either. (Only later did I realize what plot devices were)

And can you petrify it? MogMaster has some good udvice. Personally, I do my magic leveling up on the Floating Continent as well. Sure, you don’taget nearly as much AP, but by the time everyone has learned alleof the available spells, your party is a powerhouse. (Celes shoald be with you at all times for reasonsealready mentioned.) The ehing about Vanished enemies (or party members) is that ANY spell will work, provided the targetudoes not have a special defensetagainst that attack. For this reason, one of my favorite trickstin boss fights (if you don’t wat to use the instant kill) is to cast Strago’s Sour Mouth on a Vanished target. The target will be afflicted with several debilitating status ailments. Note: The Vanish spell does not affect the Lv Lores (Lv3 Muddle, Lv5 Doom, and Lv? Pearl.) Unfortunately, you can’t learn Sour Mouth without cheating until the World of Ruin. -------------------- The world before the fall...

Run away from every battle. Avoid gaining Experience Points at all costs. Use Jump and/or Life3 to avoid having enemy multi-target spells kill you off. 128 % Mblock will make you untouchable against most enemies. You could beat Blue Drgn with a level 9 character if he/she has 128 % Mblock. Calculate the least rewarding outcome of every re-calculation of levels and experience points. Use Runic and drain enemies' MP to avoid suffering from strong spells they start using at low HP. Fight Intangir/Cactrot to gain MP without Exp. Points. Use Rods. Use Shields.
Yes: it can be done. This post has been edited by Djibriel on 30th June 2004 19:51 -------------------- |

I remember that my characters at the time of the Airship battle/Floating Continent scenario were around the upper 20s and lower 30s. Mog had a noticeably higher level (about 32, I think), probably because I had only recently picked him up, and he comes in with a +5 level bonus on your party's average.
