Now, I know that the SNES version has the fastest loading times, but for the PSX, is the NTSC version faster than the PAL version, or are they both of similar speeds?

Wrong units, again: it's 50Hz for PAL, 60Hz for NTSC. Well below 1MHz in both cases.

I don't know whether the PAL PSX FF6 has been speeded up to compensate for the drop to 50Hz. If not, it will play slower, of course. If it has, I can only assume they had to drop frames somewhere (i.e. decrease how smooth the animation appears), since SNES games tend to be written to work closely with the 60Hz output rate. I'd recommend the NTSC version if you can get hold of it and use it, since it's guaranteed to suffer neither problem (though as you say, the load times are still worse than the SNES, and I'm told that some graphical effects also cause slowdown).

my oppinion is that the ntsc versionand the pal version are the same. But the snes version is faster because of the no loading time factor. i play my snes roms on my dreamcast and at first they ran at 80 percent because of the fact that it was reading a cd and it spins at the same rate to read information.so i edited a line in the emulator to speed up 20% i also can burn images of ps1 games and run an emulator on a dreamcast and actually make a bootable copy of a ps1 game on a dc. and they run at the same rate. i dont play the ps1 version on my dc due to the fact that the snes rom has no loading times.

HAHA all my game saves lost!

oh yeah and i am the proud owner of a never before opened snes copy of ffvi still in plastic and everything!
