I think im gonna haveta agree with supermanboy, he knows what hes talking about. Terra is definetley the main character, because she is the one that is the master of magic.

I voted "Other", as in "there is no main character". If any of these people would have been the main character, then we would be playing FFVI as a first-person RPG from their perspective, which doesn't happen. However, the characters vary in their importance to the storyline, and Terra would obviously be tops here.
See the FAQ section of this walkthrough and scroll down to the question "Who is the main character in this game?" for some pretty good reasoning as to why all three of the characters mentioned in this poll cannot be the main character.

The game isn't linear to the point as in you're not subjected to always carrying "a specific member". A flaw I find EXTREMELY annoying sometimes. Its another one of the many reasons you gotto love this game, just look at the Fav' party thread itself.

Whoa.

The long answer is that Terra is undoubtly the main character of the WoB. All parts of the story revolve around her, except for the Opera/Mtek factory section which revolves around Celes and Locke. In the WoR the story then revolves around Celes. Once you get the ship, the story no longer has a main character.

The short answer is that Terra is the main character.

I disagree, I think that the creators made FFVI in such a way as to allow the player to pick whichever character they want as the main character (though there is a slightly higher emphasis on Terra), that is one of the game's best points, you don't have to be stuck using the same character through the entire game since almost every character has a lengthy back-story & personal trials.
