Well, to stay on the track of not mentioning games that have been mentioned. I'll throw a whole new game into the mix and hope you all check it out.

Sweet Home.

Very little known game. Only released in Japan due to how violent and horrific the material was to be considered at the time of the games release. Supposedly the first game of it's genre. Survival, Horror, RPG. And in my opinion, this is by far one of the greatest NES games created. To give you an idea of why it wasn't allowed to be ported to America. In the game, to pass to new areas, you are required to do things such as drink the blood of a baby. The NPC's you encounter in the game, are Half Bodied Zombies and Skeletons who were captured in the mansion. When a character dies, it's in what was considered a gruesome manner at that time. A female characters death, shows a scene of the character being slammed into a wall and then slowly dragging down it with blood on the wall to her back. When a male character dies he is ripped in half. Sometimes while you're walking a random occurence will occur, such as the floor caving in, or a chandelier crashing down. When this occurs you have to think quickly by picking one of the available commands I.E: "Move Left, Move Right." lest your character dies and you lose him permanately. The game also has random encounters, which involve a turn based combat system. Where you will fight such enemies as, a horde of worms, or evil dolls.

I was quite astonished at how much I enjoyed this game, considering that I'm not usually fond of the whole Survival Horror thing. But, yeah, definitely check this game out.
