undoubtably the main character is TERRA.... she has the most history revealed and at the end you have the ability to feel what it would accually be like to live her life...

I forgot there was a VI forum, but remembered and left it to be moved.

So Terra it is. I was confused about it since Celes was a pretty solid character too.

Terra, the story would not be the same without her, the others are small potatoes compared to her

If forced to select one it would be Terra, but consider that it's possible to go through the entire second half of the game without so much as seeing her. She's definitely the closest thing there is to a true main character though.

EDIT: Just remembering when the guy who introduced me to RPGs told me that the main character of FF3 was a girl, and we both felt a little down. Ah, 4th grade!

Sadly Terra, although i never liked her that much if the story started with celes then switched to terra in WOR Celes would be the main character and i dont wanna be a mag roader i liked being a returner but that just means i have to work hard to transform AGAIN

im gonna hop on the bandwagon and say terra as well. the whole story wouldnt have even started if she didnt invade narshe with biggs and wedge, and she was necessary for just about every storyline event in the WoB. in the WoR, she is taken note of when you take on kefkas tower whether you get her or not, even though you never have to actually go out of your way to obtain her. terra wins.

I would have to say Gogo, I mean look at him... it... whatever. I mean he talks a lot, has a fleshed out background, AND he looks cool.

All kidding aside though, I would not call any ONE character the main character, but Terra probably fills that spot the best.

in the WOB terra is the main char...WOR it switches to celes...then back to terra in kefkas tower/ending sequence. just my thoughts.

...Ok, it's -really- Locke. He's the main character, he's the typical hero of the game. Like I've said somewhere before, at the beginning of the game he's the Guardian of Magic - he protects Terra, Half Esper and rescues Celes; therefore stopping their powers being used against humankind.

Normally, I would agree with you, but Locke, in essence, has no close tieing connections to the story other than wanting to "fight the good fight". If you want to get technical, even Strago has a more direct connection to the story....at least Strago is a Mage Warrior descendant who has direct connections to the Ancient War of the Magi, and such....

The main character is Terra....anyone who argues otherwise merely doesn't want to admit that the main character of FF6 is a girl, more or less....

I agree with West Side Tony. The main artwork for FFVI features Terra and only Terra in a suit of Magitek armor. The story ultimately revolves around her development. The reason other characters get the spotlight sometimes is because there are 12 characters who all demand attention in order for their existances to be worthwhile (Gogo and Umaro need not apply) in the game. Locke is no more significant than the other characters. Just because he likes to protect girls doesn't make him the hero of the game.

One thing that I found hilarious is when Locke is supposed to be protecting Terra on the way to Figaro. Instead Terra's walking around with a dead Locke. LOL!

I'm willing to place my vote on Terra, but could some one tell me if she shows up at the end of the game if you don't recruit her. I've always recruited all the characters, so I don't know what the ending looks like if you skip one or two.
If she shows up at the end, she's the main character, if not, it's kinda up in the air for me.

Kefka. Because he has the most personality in the game. He's the best character, and by far the best bad guy.

Terra is IMO the main character of the game. She fits the prototype very well: character trying to find true purpose, trying to discover more about herself (always leads to unearthing secrets about that character), the charisma to convince others to follow (that one is kinda debatable),and the key to unlocking the crucial part in the game rest inside them somehow.

Without her, the storyline would go nowhere. The game could lose all others without much effect, but without terra the game could not be what it is now.

I think one of the coolest things about FF6 is that it's difficult to really say "This is the main character." The storyline changes and twists so many times, that when you get to the WOR, who you thought was the main character becomes optional. Hell, throughout a big chunk of the WOB, she's optional. Depending on how you play, Terra is either vital to the group, or can be used as a pawn to draw out the espers.

Now i was just wondering. but there are so many playable characters that i cant really decide which one is the main character. I was just wondering what some opinions might be like. I also know that you start out w/ terra but does that technically make her the main character?

Most people say its Terra. But IMO the beauty of FF6 is that its really made up of all its characters, and they as a whole make the "main character".

The story is torn between Terra and Celes...Terra is definately the main character in the World of Balance but becomes a a less important character when she refuses to join your cause initially in the World of Ruin. In the World of Ruin, it's Celes' quest to seek out all of her friends (well, actually just Locke) and put the hurt on Kefka. It's seen in the intro and exit movies of the PSX version of the game as well: the first, the intro movie, tells about Terra's past, the last shows primarily Celes and her yearning for Locke.

So I'd say the main characters are Terra and Celes. Two girls as main characters...is this game really made by the Square-Japanese? Before you know it, these guys might start breaking some prejudices here and there!

The best thing about FF VI is that based on who you use the most you can (to an extent) determine who you want the main character to be, because you see how they react to everything and you have them with you all the time.

i recently started to think about something about FF6, who would u say is the main character? at first it seems like Terra, then Locke, then when Kefka turns the world inside out, it makes it look like Celes is the main one, in my opinion any one would make a good main person, but is there a definite main person?
