Im just curiouse but why when your on the haunted train for the first time does a ghost join your party. And then after the ghost kills an enemy it just goes away never to be seen again.
I mean come on how weird is that. A ghost come on. But anyways what is it for. I was lucky enought to find it because i challenged all of the ghosts to a battle and one just so happened to join my party. -------------------- HAHA all my game saves lost! oh yeah and i am the proud owner of a never before opened snes copy of ffvi still in plastic and everything! |

You're talking about the "possess" skill. The ghost possess the enemy, instantly killing it never to be seen again yes, but you can get more in your party. Eventually some ghosts will try and sell you things, or feed you!

The ghost is sweet man. But seriously, I don't know y they die. The funny thing is in battle, u cannot cure him with potions, tonics, etc. but outside of battle u can. I think that's kinda weird.

the reason for that is because they have a relic ring equiped.. giveing the like a zombie status without the zombie effect.

The Relic Ring makes you undead. Curative items/spells hurt undead characters/monsters, and the Doom spell heals them completely.
I've wondered about the ghosts too. You can get two of them, by the way. They don't make a lot of sense from the perspective of the story, and they're certainly not a great help in battle. They either deliver pathetically weak Fight attacks or instantly take an enemy out...with themselves gone too. This post has been edited by Djibriel on 20th May 2004 19:49 -------------------- |

I liked using the ghost, I just wish he was a permanent partyamember, and he would use his Posses skill, and then his HP would be just 0.

The fact is, you get a ghost in your party! It's fun! And, you can walk around as the ghost, which I like doing.
Yes, the ghost is weak, but he takes the heat off the important members of your party. -------------------- "Look at me! I'm a receptionist! G'fa ha ha!" Quote Ultros |

Sounds cool, but they all take off before you face the train. I would rather have that sorcerer that looks like a ghost (you see him in the ancient castle).

I've read some fun fanfiction about the identities of the ghosts (which usually make up new characters) and some unfun fanfiction (which tries to demonstrate that the ghosts are Owen/Elaine/Daryl/etc.). I think they're great!

I can't give you the *exact* way Possess works (ZED's site claims it's unblockable, but it misses rather often and it doesn't have N. Cross' special ability, so what's up with that?), but I know it bypasses Death protection. That means that Possess can instantly take out any enemy you directed it against. It works against Siegfried and Specter anyway. Hypothetically, it works against the final Kefka, the invincible Guardian and whatnot.
Also, the "ghost is gone"-thingy is actually inherent to the command. The ghosts dissappeared anyway when they died in battle, but when you have a normal character do it, it's HP is down to 0 and is gone from the battle (like Spiraler) with the nasty exception that that party member is now gone from the menu screen. I guess it's why the ghosts leave you before you fight the Ghost Train and not afterwards: being able to take out the Ghost Train in one hit would've made the battle too easy. I actually had a theory about that ghost, and I wrote a fanfic about it. It's in the ff6 fanfiction section, called Beyond Pain, if you're interested :-)
I think he was just newly dead, and wanted to help out. But once he attacked, he stayed in the monster. And he can't leave the train. -------------------- I had an old signature. Now I've changed it. |

Has anyone ever taken the time to insert a game genie code (for exp/level) and check the base stats of a level 99 ghost? Be some interesting results to see if they have any primary stats and or major bonuses

Stats don't increase per level.
????? (1st one)====????? (2nd one)====Terra (just for comparison) Vigor: 14========Vigor: 4=========Vigor: 31 Speed: 15=======Speed: 8=========Speed: 33 Stamina: 10======Stamina: 10=======Stamina: 28 Mag. Power: 30====Mag. Power 15=====Mag. Power: 39 In other words, only the Mag. Power of the first ghost isn't lower then kicking a man when he's down. For people wondering: you always get the first ghost when you don't have any ghosts in your party, and you only get the second one when you already have the first one. Obviously, you need to have ditched/ignored Shadow completely at that time. This post has been edited by Djibriel on 31st May 2004 17:16 -------------------- |

The HP increase is the same for all characters, so even the ghost(s) would get the increase. Too bad you can't heal it.

Are you talking about the amount of HP you gain on your Max. HP but not on your current HP? Because in that case, you could easily heal with Potions so long as you do it outside of battle.
