Just because you don't get him doesn't mean he dies, unless the games says so... Because I've never left without him.
Anyways, Kefka is just such an evil mofo that he won't die from a mere mile fall, jeesh. |

Kefka is magic and thus can fly. See the wings.

IMO, Kefka doesn't die because he is becoming the all-powerful one. Thus, cannot die until you get a chance to thwart him.

Maybe because Kefka is the main fricking boss and you need him to progress through the storyline? I love Shadow, but he was still not a major character as far as the main plot goes.

Kefka doesn't die because he has a FUNNY LAUGH. If he died, Square would have had to find someone with an equally funny laugh, and that just wasn't possible.

i agree with Kappa. who's left to fight if he actually dies?
i also agree with Hsiu. who would give that cute, lovable laugh of a psycho as well as the Kefster. but on top of this, i have verifiable proof that Kefka is working with the Russian Mafia {oh yeah, Kefka is a russian. Who else would dress like that? ![]() You don't believe me, you say. I have pictures!! I'm going to be on Oprah and expose the secrets of the Russians and Kefka. ok... i'm lying... i'm not going to be on Oprah... it's... I think it was his laugh that actually saved him, because it is the true source of his power. Sure, the russian toaster gave him a butload of power, but before the toaster came along, it was just him and that laugh...and that shiny little "kill an esper in one hit and then pull it's crystalline carcass back to you" spell that he learned during his KGB days.

Well, Kefka survives because... uhhh... he has enough power to send out a whole mess of monsters to deal with you? Actually, I'm wondering why Shadow didn't get wasted by Kefka on the spot...

I don't think Kefka really got the power to annihilate until after Shadow got away. The light of judgement doesn't start frying stuff until after the airship leaves the continent, IIRC. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

Hmmm... I had always thought that the end of the world was caused not bu the light of judgement, but simply by the sudden release of magical energy caused by the disaligning of the statues. Oh well. Something like that is really up for interpretation.

Of course, one could always start a theory that the Kefka you face after the world is ripped apart is a clone of the original Kefka, kept hidden in the Magitek Factory until he would be needed. The first Kefka did, in fact, die, but that's why the clone.
But...why would one want to start /that/ rumor. *shifty eyes* -------------------- Why don't you go hang out with the village idiot so you have someone to look up to? |

Anyone heard the Kefka theme played on piano around the internet? I like it. Kefka doesn't die because he's too cool.
