I am way excited there is a new Zelda coming out, and it's not cel shaded (though I've got nothing against WW) it's actually very realistic I dont know about you guys but THIS is the Zelda I have been waiting for.
Here is a link where you can look at the screen shots to it or download the AWESOME trailer. http://cube.ign.com/articles/515/515922p1.html Edit I changed the topic name to fit the recently announced title This post has been edited by Phunbaba on 18th August 2005 01:31 |

Yeah I just loaded AOL and it was on the Gamers news...I haven't checked it out yet but I'm looking foward to it from the pictures I saw.
Edit Ok here's what was said about the graphics... "Link, in this next Zelda game, incidentally looks a lot like how he does in the GameCube version of Namco's 2003 fighting game, Soul Calibur II." As far as game play...they don't even know what the game is going to be called yet but from what I've seen of it I'm quite impressed. Man, this looks like it'll be amazing! I have to play it immediately after it is released.
I thought the second Zelda game for GC was going to be in WW style, but I'm glad they decided against that. ![]() -------------------- --sbq92 <>< |

Legend of Zelda rules all. This should be a very interresting game. It probably won't be as good as Link to the Past (yes, I am a the biggest Link to the Past fan). This is bound to be better than their last 3d Zelda game. Can't wait.

God, it's probably Gamecube-exclusive. Maybe that can galvanize the sales, but I think, as a Zelda-lover, that I'm not going to get a 'Cube just for that.

All I have to say is that Zelda is an awesome series and those screenies look sweet. Maybe Nintendo has gotten it through their collectively thick skulls to produce a Zelda game more like Ocarina of Time and less like Wind Waker. Wind Waker was OK I guess, but the cel shading really turned me off of it.

I'm not going to lie, the game looks amazing. Hopefully, it will top the almighty A Link to the Past for SNES. That game, in my opinion, is still the best in the series as it fills me with pure rapture every time I play it. Ocarina of Time, while superior in its game mechanics, just didn't get me as excited. Don't get me wrong, it was an amazing game, though.
This game, though, looks to take the series to a whole new level and has the potential to surpass aLttP. -------------------- Je ne t'aime plus, Mon amour... Je ne t'aime plus, Tous les jours... |

It looks fantastic. I know I'm excited. The official entries in the Zelda series have yet to disappoint me, and this new installment will doubtless feature the innovation and wonder that Miyamoto has offered in the past.

Hooray. Maybe this wil make up for the scourge that was Wind Waker, which was complete garbage, since graphics matter.

They said that it was to release for game cube according to all the gamer's sites...I hardly see why they would say they were gonna release it on game cube and then let it out on another system...the only new system they are planning to release is the DS and I have no idea why they would release it on that, I mean I know it's supposed to have good graphics but I don't think that it would be able to support anything THAT good. -------------------- Climhazzard is the timeless evil robot who runs some of the cool stuff at CoN (mostly logging chat, since there are no quizzes at the moment), all the while watching and waiting for his moment to take over the world. -Tiddles |

Slightly off topic, but nows as good a time as any to ask:
What the hell is that name of that music? I know it's from the Conan movie (I refuse to acknowledge it's...ugh...'sequel'), but if'n I'm gonna illegally download it, I need the actual name of the song. And now for the part of the post that actually justifies it's exsistence: This new-from-the-old look frankly has me nervous. I get the feeling that it's in responce to everyone lashing out at the look of the previous one. Well, okay it's an obvious responce to the lashing out from the look of the revious one, but whether you liked it or not it was different. It was new. Now, as good as he looks, it's been done. Sure it'll please the close minded, but I'm afraid the changes may be more than cosmetic. I don't want the Orcarina of Time with better graphics, and I'm scared that's what this new game is gonna be. -------------------- |

I agree with Adma. Seriously, why is 3d such a big deal? I have played "Link to the Past" over and over again in the last 12 years, but I never even finished "Ocarina of Time" (though I still own it), it just wasnt as fun.

I would have agreed with you...Ocarina of Time just didn't do it for me. Then Celda came out and I really really enjoyed it. Even so, I'm skeptical about the new one. As I've stated before, I seem to much prefer young Link games rather than old Link games...goes back to my childhood. We'll have to see.

I Didint like it on Wind waker how you just had to be young the whole time. And on Majoras mask I didnt like it how you had to be old all the time. But OOT was a perfect mesh of the two. (But I still love LTTP)
Edit- Oh yeah, I meant I dont know if Im going to like how on this new one apparently your going to have to be old all the time. This post has been edited by Phunbaba on 12th June 2004 02:07 |

I like Link as an adult more then a kid, though he was basically a kid/teenager in all games except for OofT. I loved Wind Waker and thought the cartoon animation was a good change of pace but I want to see a realistic Link on a GC as well.

Well I don't know about the Wind Waker 'cause I have still only played a demo but it doesn't look all that bad... I still think I will like the graphics for this new one a lot better though, but yes I agree with you guys when you say that A Link to the Past was the best Zelda...it has been my favorite since it came out.

Wind Waker's cel-shading always reminded me specifically of the almighty A Link to the Past for some reason. OoT's graphics, on the other hand, never really appealed to me. I also seem to be more fond of child Link rather than adult Link since that evokes more nostalgia.
To be honest, the new Zelda does look amazing, but more importantly, I hope reviving the look isn't all Nintendo's going for. I want to be "wowed", and I don't mean by the graphics. -------------------- Words of Wisdom: If something can go wrong, it will. If anything simply cannot go wrong, it will anyway. i think that this game will be the zelda game to end all zelda games. what surprised me the most is the horse combat. you will actually be able to have sword fights while riding your horse, which i'm guessing will be epona. the graphics are amazing especially compared to WW. of course, WW was cel-shaded so that's not saying much.
as for people saying that WW was a bad game, it wasn't imo. once you look past the cutesy graphics, you'll see that there's a great game there. everyone says that it's not realistic, it doesn't fit the action, blah blah blah. if you're willing to except the game for what it is and quit complaining about what it isn't, then you're in for a great experience. i think that OoT was a great game, the first 3D zelda game in the series. this game hit the market and i was there. in fact, still play it even to this date. but, i still gotta give it up to the OG, A Link To the Past. this is by far my favorite zelda game and one of my all time favorite video games period. -------------------- moé in the streets, senpai in the sheets |

just as long as they keep gameplay and story high, it will be amazing, since we all know that gameplay and story are the most important things in a game.
Wind waker looked too cartoony for me though. I hope they use masks, those things rocked. This post has been edited by Angry_Lizard on 11th June 2004 03:01 -------------------- THE LIZARDSSS SHALL EATSSS YOU |

I honstly think that the creators of Zelda shouldn't really even worry about graphics at all, instead they should try to match or pass the gameplay and story of A Link to the Past... but I doubt that will ever happen. Quote though he was basically a kid/teenager in all games except for OofT No. He was a kid in all games except for OofT and Return of Link. He was a teenager for periods of time in the first and all of the second. IMO they are two two of the worst zelda games made. (Note that all Zelda games excluding Return of Link, are excellent games.) Here is order of my pref: LTTP - WW (close tie, since it's been awhile since I've played LTTP, so I don't have recent experience with it's quality, I do know how excellent WW was though) Link's Awakening Majora's Mask Ocarina of Time Zelda I Return of Link I haven't played the oracle games yet or four swords, but I heard they are both pretty good. Four swords is hilarious! There are things only one player can see or walk on, and you're yelling at you friend/s to do something, but they don't understand. The best part about it is throwing a pot on your friend's head. They can't see, and you can hit them with your sword. You can also have the blade beam if you earned it in LTTP. I looooove that game. Both, actually.
But, in my opinion, Ocarina of time is a great game. Traveling back and forth through time really apealed to me. I loved the Twin Witch bosses too. Mirroring Magic is fuuuun. Majora's mask wasn't fun ONLY because of the time limits. The mask idea kicked, though. This game looks exciting, though. I really want to hit a dwarf while riding my horese. (Let's hope we get Epona, even if she annoyed the crap out of me, she was fast.) -------------------- "We're not tools of the government or anyone else. OTT, MM and WW were all fun to play the first time through. In my opinion, MM is the best overall game because you can skip text and you can challenge yourself by trying to beat the game in just 3 days. The best thing about OTT was it's length/number of dungeons, but not being able to skip text sorta hinders replay. WW is the worst for replay because traveling is tedious and collecting the triforce parts is tedious.
I can't believe people still rap about the cell shading of WW. I was one of the people who thought it looked far too kiddy before it came out and then changed my mine once I played. It's basically a 3-d version of the Lttp graphics which we all love. I for one might not purchase this new Zelda game if the fighting is like the last 3 games. Zelda has gone from a good series to an okay series because of 3-d fighting. There is no way to make fighting hard once you are locked onto your enemy. Honestly, you cannot come up with a way! Anyone with me on this? This post has been edited by 1stclass on 24th June 2004 12:23 |
