Don't try to get me to play softball, or I'll cry. *L* I can't throw underhand well. Anyway. Another hobby of mine is cleaning. Not a fun hobby, no, but I hafta do it. :P Hmm.. I'm thinking.. and it hurts.. well.. another obsession of mine is listening to my music. I'll listen to anything/everything once. Sometimes I like one song and not the next, but that's expected, right? Anyway. some of my hobbies, huh. well....
The thing I probably do the most of is watch sports. Baseball is my favorite sport to watch but I love to watch about any sport [except for golf.] On the whole, I like to play just about every sport as well. My favorite to play though is basketball, tennis, golf, and roller hockey. my favorite bands: i am not a picky person when it comes to music. the rules for me to listen to it go as follows: it can't sell out and it can't be written by someone else. Some of my favorite bands are Rage Against the Machine, System of a Down, Rustic Overtones, The Ernies, Korn, Goldfinger, and Tool. something that I love to do is play my bass guitar. i'm not the best bassist in the world, but i'm not that bad either. i formed a band made up of me [bass] mookie [drums] and ana [you don't know her. she's our guitarist]. currently, our band name is Bombshell but it might be changed in the near-future. [as if you couldn't tell, music, sports, and gaming is pretty much my life.] other than that, the rest of my time is pretty much just chilling with friends and hanging out with my girlfriend. i don't really have a take on the dentist since i haven't been in about 3 years. -------------------- "When I turn the page The corner bends into the perfect dog ear As if the words knew I'd need them again But at the time, I didn't see it." ~"This Ain't a Surfin' Movie" - Minus the Bear |

Hmm. Â
Well, music is important to me. Â I like to think that I have a broad taste, though most of what I listen to is rock. Â My two favourites are Queen, for their mad creativity and their unbelievable singer, and Rush, who have no rival when it comes to instrumental talent (if there's a god of drummers, it's Neil Peart!) or lyric-writing (if there's a god of lyricists, it's Neil Peart!). Â Other artists I like are the classic rockers like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, the wonderfully bombastic Meat Loaf, the beautifully celtic Loreena McKennitt, the progressively . . . progressive Dream Theater, and many others including Bryan Adams, Michael Jackson, A Perfect Circle, and, of course, the brilliant Weird Al Yankovic. Now, I know that I mentioned lyrics as a reason that I like Rush, but that's really a strange thing for me to have said because I generally don't pay attention to the words in a song, beyond listening to how they sound. Â For the most part, music is about the music to me. Â I am also a fan of classical, or simply general orchestral music. Â My favourite composer is Gustav Holst, famous for his suite, The Planets. Â A lot of people just listen to music for something to do, but I like to think that it is much more than just a thing to waste time. Â The music we listen to is all a part of the soundtrack to our lives, after all. Â Someday I will be able to listen to the songs like Bohemian Rhapsody or 2112 and remember what they meant to me when I first heard them. Â Music is like a time machine. *cough* Â Again . . . music is important to me. Uh . . . but that's not all I'm interested in! Â I like to watch many sports; hockey, baseball, tennis, football, soccer, and even golf. Â The only sports I like to play, though, are ice hockey and golf. Â I watch TV a bit. Â My favourite shows are Highander: The Series, Monty Python's Flying Circus, and the first two Star Treks. Â My favourite movies are Ben-Hur, Return of the Jedi, The Fellowship of the Ring, and the Monty Python films Holy Grail and The Meaning of Life. I read a lot, mostly fantasy. Â I love the medieval setting; as a person living in today's techno-earth, that world - not necessarily the actual earth of the Middle Ages, but any fantasy world with horse-ridin', sword-swingin', spell-castin' guys - seems so alien and yet so familiar at the same time. Â Favourites include Lord of the Rings by Tolkien, The Farseer Trilogy by Hobb, and The Wheel of Time by Jordan. Â Right now, I'm enjoying the first novel in A Song of Ice and Fire by Martin. Of course, this techno-earth is not without its finer points! Â The Internet takes up a lot of my time. Â I use it to sample music, look up useful (or not so useful) information, or simply communicate with others as a part of communities such as CoN and GameFAQs. I guess that's all that I can think of now. -------------------- Always hopeful, yet discontent; he knows changes aren't permanent -- But change is! |

mookie's hobbies:
well, i love to play drums. in fact, drumming takes up at least four hours of my day {not 4 hours in a row, mind you}. when i put my mind to it, I can perfect a song within probably a week. mookie is da greatest drummer ever.... well, probably not. but everyone that has heard me has loved what i do, so i let them do the talking for me. music... hmm... i love all types of music {minus pop} my favorite band has to be the Foo Fighters and Nirvana. I'm not afraid to admit that Dave Grohl is my idol as a drummer. I mean, c'mon, his drumming kicked a lot of ass while he was in Nirvana and he's a damn fine guitar player for the Foo Fighters. On top of Nirvana and Foo Fighters, I like Jack Johnson, Tool, A Perfect Circle, Default, Outkast, Ludacris, Rage, a little bit of Linkin Park, a little bit of Limp Bizkit, Paranoid Social Club, Headstrong: the list goes on... My favorite things to do besides drumming is womanizing. I'm told I am quite good at it. If the females of the forums play their cards right, they'll get a taste of my lingo. ![]() ![]() I also enjoy basketball. That's the only sport I really play. I tried tennis, but I sucked supremely. I like to skateboard although I'm not extremely talented at it. I think I'll quit the boarding and buy a BMX bike. I bet I'll do better on that. {ya'll will see me on the X Games in three years. Someone else knows about Gustav Holst?!?? Wow.... I do love the planets, but my favorite piece of music that I've ever played is Holst's 2nd Suite in F for Military Band. I love listening to and playing all kinds of classical music. As for my other hobbies, I enjoy boating, fishing, hunting, and reading. I mostly read Tom Clancy for fun, but I do enjoy many success principle books as well. I am also a band geek - in the greatest marching band in the world, the Spartan Marching Band. Other than that, I love college football. College football = the greatest sport, bar none. -------------------- "Hit hard, hit first, hit often." --Adm. William "Bull" Halsey, USN |

For hobbies?
Well music takes up most of my life. My taste isn't the most ranging, but I listen to different styles. Bands wise, I listen mostly to bands like Slayer, Cradle Of Filth and Dimmu Borgir, I'm more the metal head. I also listen to other kinds of rock, stuff like Rage Against The Machine, Finger Eleven, Misfits, AFI, and Nine Inch Nails. I'm also a fan of the oldies, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Pink Flyod and Jimi Hendrix and such. I also spend a lot of time playing guitar, I've been a bit over 4 years now, and I play in a band named Zealous Apathy (Jlombardi13 is our bassist). I tend to learn more metal style songs because that's the music I listen to more, but I pick up a few alternative songs and the occasional punk song. The guitar that I had before was a pretty bad little peice of trash, but now that I'm playing on a jackson my playing will improve even more. People say I'm not bad with a guitar, but I hope to be really great with one eventually. I also like to just hang out with my friends and do whatever it is we feel like doing, although most of the time it invloves something painful yet hilarious. (i.e. riding down a moutain in a shopping cart and crashing into a tree) Other than that, I attend the occasional concert, watch more cartoons than a five year old could dream of watching and play video games. During the winter, I snowboard, during the summer I hibernate. I also collect comics, mostly of Spider Man, X-men, The Avengers, Fantastic Four, Spawn and others that are like that. Music is a big part of my life.
Firstly, I play bass for Zealous Apathy (with DF as guitarist). I've been playing for about a year, and I'm ok, but my fingers suck and get tired easily, and I don't like playing with a pick unless I have to strum. I listen to about 2 hours of music a day, sometimes up to 6 (I stay up late listening to whatever CD's I have). I am pretty open to different types of music, but generally, I hate pop and country. My favorite bands are AFI, CKY, Bad Religion, Rage Against the Machine, and anything Les Claypool is a part of (Primus, Oysterhead, Fearless Flying Frog Brigade, Sausage, Holy Mackerel, the list goes on). Les is also my bass idol. I like listening to alternative, like CKY, Radiohead, Nirvana, etc. I prefer listening to a bit calmer stuff than, say, System of a Down, but then again I would probably like System a lot more if our singer stopped constantly ruining their songs (aka singing them). I like jazz (I went to the Montreal Jazz Festival and saw Stephen Barry!), death metal is alright, some punk is great (non-generic punk like NoFX that all sounds the same), and I like a lot of old stuff (Led Zeppelin, Rush, Black Sabbath). I like sports as well. I used to play hockey in the winter and soccer (until I was ![]() I skateboard a lot. I've been skating over 2 years now, and I'm alright at it. And I also hang out a lot and play video games. That's about it. -------------------- Lou: There's a couple of guys fighting down at the aquarium, Chief. I read a lot. I just finished the first three books of A Song of Fire and Ice by George R. R. Martin. I suggest anyone who is interested in Fantasy pick them up. I used to play soccer all the time, but I haven't since the winter. RIght now I'm basically getting ready for college.

Hobbies? Hobbies? C'mon, you think I have a life?
Anywho, my hobbies are pretty dry. I like to play basketball whenever I can, though it's getting seriously hot down here in the Old Line State. Maryland, that is. I also enjoy Video Games (no duh...), Anime, and creating Wallpapers for people to use on their computer. Currently, I'm brainstorming a way for Elena's Avatar and the Elena from FFVII's pictures to go well with a purple and silver combination. Aren't I one sad, boring guy? Music? I'm so off that I listen to music from Animes. I even burn CD's entirely devoted to them. Now if I could only find that Samurai Pizza Cats Theme Song again... If it counts, I play the piano! Woo! Dentists? I don't mind Dentists. I mean, my Aunt is my dentist and my Uncle is my Orthidontist, so how can i complain? I get it all for free. Umm...yeah, I feel like somethings missing, but it will all come to me in due time. -------------------- I find your lack of faith disturbing... |

![]() I enjoy getting together with friends to watch movies, listen to music *Mostly Sabbath, Megadeth, Alice In Chains, Judas Priest, etc* get high, and run around like idiots. Hob...bies?
Okee, umm...well for starters I love to read. Love love love reading, especially if it's a big ass book or a long series of books. I do'nt mind shorter, but the longer the story, (as long as it's good) the more I can get into it. I also love to write. Fanfiction, poems, short stories, and my novel. I also have ideas for 3 other novels, though I'm concentrating on this first one. Watching anime. It's not as often as the first two, but it happens. Sewing. It's a minor hobby...lately, I turned a pair of pants into a skirt, and I've been working on a quilt for a year. I also like making bracelets with embroidery thread. Online stuff. Working on my personal site, the ffrpgs, the CoN, wether I'm messing with html, writing stories, organizing rping, or doing random CoN stuff, or just chatting. Music. I play piano and have a keyboard with me, and I like singing, listening to music, and playing. I also own an acoustic guitar, but it's out of tune and I can't play the thing. Judo. Been in it for about three years...not that good, but I try, dammit. Elena -------------------- I had an old signature. Now I've changed it. |

Hmm...hobbies, eh? Â Well, I lead a fairly active life, so I'm sure I can think of a few.
A big one would have to be reading and writing. Â I'm a prolific reader and a (somewhat) competent writer; since I enjoy both, it's natural that these activities take up quite a bit of my free time. Basketball is my main sport. Â I just love everything about it, from playing to watching to memorizing statistics. Â It's an awesome game; fast-paced and fun to play. Watching anime and/or reading manga is another hobby of mine, if it wasn't obvious before. I play the piano, which I suppose could be considered a hobby. Â It's not that I'm terribly good at it, but sometimes I do get a good break. Â Playing an instrument is kind of relaxing that way (unless you're playing one of those excruciatingly difficult pieces by a composer whose name you can't even pronounce). I seem to be an oddity around here in the sense that I really don't listen to much music at all. Â Maybe I'm just not cultured enough... And finally, I also like Tae Kwon Do (thanks Elena, for reminding me). Â For those not familiar, it's the Korean martial art which emphasizes kicking as the main form of offense. Â I loved taking it, and I'm absolutely dying to get lessons going again, since I've been on an increasingly dreary hiatus for quite some time. -------------------- "I always have a quotation for everything - it saves original thinking." ~Dorothy L. Hobbies...
Basketball is numero uno here. Me and all my friends just got a huge pick-up game going yesterday. They're all in summer league right now but my dad wouldn't give me the $300 to join. ![]() My favorite team has always been the Bulls, but since Jerry Krause ALWAYS finds a way to screw them over(Trading Elton Brand for Tyson Chandler, wtf?) they suck now. The Kings are my 2nd favorite, I hope they kill Shaq and the lakers next year. Another hobby would be of course, music. Some Punk, Emo, Ska, Classic Rock, Rap, etc. I just finally got The Eminem Show. Me like. Others are Video games, swimming, running, weight lifting(I've got plenty definition, but no bulk whatsoever), and writing. -------------------- The clouds ran away, opened up the sky And one by one I watched every constellation die And there I was frozen, standing in my backyard Face to face, eye to eye, staring at the last star I should've known, walked all the way home To find that she wasn't here, I'm still all alone -Atmosphere "Always Coming Back Home to You" |

Life without music is meaningless. It takes up a grand part of my life - being my major and all.
My taste in music isn't very wide ranging... in fact, it's pretty damn narrow. All I ever listen to is Impressionist and modern serious stuff, with a little jazz and classical rock thrown in. Umm...writing fanfics is a hobby, although not a very healthy one. Watching anime, though I watch much less of it than I used to. Collecting interesting (and therefore darned expensive) poker cards. Drawing. Ranting about Things I Hate (like our president, the Middle East conflict, and cheese). Ranting about Things I Love (like Boston, art, classics, books, and fried clams...mmm...fried clams...).

Hobbies: Basketball, sports, basketball, music, basketball, rock climbing, basketball, basketball, basketball.
I love basketball, I play it constantly, when my track coach isn't looking, and watch it when I can't play. I love all sports and follow almost everything I consider a legitimate sport, but I only occasionally play anything else, and it's usually football if it is. I'm considering walking on to the team this year, in which case MAYBE if we make it to the NCAA tournament again then MAYBE you'll see me on the far end of the bench...but I'll probably stick to cross-country and track. I also listen to music, 99% hip-hop, 1% jazz. Favorite groups are Black Star, The Roots, Outkast, Mission, J-Live, De La Soul, and Pharcyde. I basically have something playing whenever I'm sitting around (Pharcyde- Bizarre Ride II right now) I like reading and writing, Orson Scott Card= God. I'm trying to get through Lord of the Rings right now. I also rock-climb, bike, and do other outdoor stuff when the opportunity arises, or hang out with my mentees. -------------------- Hip-Hop QOTW: "Yeah, where I'ma start it at, look I'ma part of that Downtown Philly where it's realer than a heart attack It wasn't really that ill until the start of crack Now it's a body caught every night on the Almanac" "Game Theory" The Roots |

Mm ... mostly writing, it's all I do when I'm bored, I'll write absolutely anything. I have notebooks full of stuff, journals, stories, the lot. And I like to read ... mostly fantasy, like the Redwall or Dragonriders of Pern series. I have a *slight* obsession with dragons and mythical creatures, so I have dragon figurines displayed about my room, and a poster of gryphons and such. I've tried drawing them myself, but they turn out horribly every time, so I don't really anymore.
Hm, what else? Anime - especially Jungle wa Itsumo Hale nochi Guu and this one that I can't remember, the title ends in Daioh. And I love the FFs, Suikoden, Zelda and Chrono Trigger/Chross. As for sports, I love cross country skiing, swimming, and tennis ... basketball is OK, but I hate softball and volleyball. And, like nearly everyone else has said, music. I mostly listen to rock, but I'll listen to pop, a bit of country, classical, whatever. And though my piano teacher quit after 4 years of teaching me ![]() There's probably more, but I'm off to bed. -------------------- "Questions are a burden to others, answers a prison for oneself." |

Let's see...
I'm a metalhead, it's basically all I listen to because it's corrupted my mind. My summerdays are usually filled with sitting on my couch with a computer in my lap, or in a big padded chair in front of a computer. My school days would include everything an "average" kid would do in the summer, so I make that up ![]() Games are fun, fun indeed. That's pretty much my life... yeah. |

Here's an oldie
![]() Obviously we all share (to some extent at least) a hobby in videogaming, but I think it'd be really interesting to hear what else CoN people currently do in their spare time. I'm sure there's a newer version of this thread, but it's more fun to dredge up the older one, right? I do quite a bit of reading, generally the more literary stuff, which is boosted by my interest in philosophy. I also like to write, though that usually gets pushed to whenever I have loads of free time. I like physical training; I do a lot of endourance work and do triathlons in the summer. I like being outside in general, as I'm rather impressed with nature, so sometimes I'll go on hikes or just take whatever I'm doing outside. I love singing; I'm in a couple different choirs at college. I don't play videogames terribly often, but I am still usually working my way through some RPG or another, even if rather slowly. -------------------- Currently Playing : Final Fantasy V Most Recently Beat : Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Favorite Game : Final Fantasy X The newest CoNcast is up! Have a listen! |
