It's actually suprisingly hard to pick just 10 favourites...anyways!

10. Terra Branford Final Fantasy VI - Her Morph ability is really useful, especially if you only use it on bosses so it last's for ages. She has such as cool costume, especially in the added FMV's. Her song is so beautiful that I brought the piano music!

9.Sora Kingdom Hearts - He has such cute expressions that just make you want to run up and hug him. His summoning actions look really cool. He's really innocent and naive but still tries to do what's right all the time. Sora really appreciates how imoprtant his friends are unlike some people *coughsqualllcough*

8.Krile Baldesion Final Fantasy V - Everything about her is a spoiler so I won't say too much. She's just a pleasant suprise replacement on your party, and so much cooler than her predecessor. Her ability to talk to dragons and moogles is the coolest thing in the game.

7.Tidus Final Fantasy X - His weapons look so much nicer than Squall's, Zidane's and Cloud's. He is gorgeous! That look he gives Yuna and Seymour at the wedding. He's not totally omnipotent like Squall and Cloud are. Tidus never gives up even when his world's turned upside down time after time.

6.Cecil Pendragon Final Fantasy IV - His paladin outfit makes me laugh! He has all the best weapons and is the best powerhouse character in the game. He never gives up on Rosa even when she needs rescuing for the 600th time. The incredibly stupid amount of satisfaction I got when I finally worked out how to win that battle at the top of Mount Ordeals when he becomes a paladin.

5.Freya Crescent Final Fantasy IX - She's everything the early FF dragoons are and more. Her tail is way cooler than Zidane's. Freya's theme song is so beautiful yet also so sad. She can riverdance! The way she always put her duty before her heart and was willing to die for her country.

4. Maria Final Fantasy II - She was the first in a legacy of great FF heroines. Maria was the only character in II who could reliably use a bow and had any real skill with magic. She has purple hair and looks really pretty in the new cutscenes. She would go to the ends of the world and back for her (step)brothers.

3. Zell Dincht Final Fantasy VIII - He has a girlfriend called librarian-with-a-pigtail! His Duel could do more damage than a Lion Heart if you got a decent amount of time. Zell was always so upbeat, but not quite as ott as Selphie was. He manage to remain devoted to a cause but still lighten things up for everyone. He was the first one to realise Rinoa liked Squall.

2. Ninja/Black Belt Final Fantasy - Everyone else hates them. They saved my life on my first time though the game. Ninjas hardly cost anything to equip and armour. Once they become masters they can do more damag bare handed than a knigth with a really good sword. They're like really quick yet powerful knights.

1. Red XIII Final Fantasy VII - He looked incredible. (Red XIII was one of Square;s favourite character designs along with Tidus). His ultimate weapon had a cool name and was Bugenhagens ''leaving'' gift. He's always so strong even though he get's scared and is only a teenager ''I am the son of Seto...and I am not afraid of Sephiroth...''

In the running - Rikku, Lulu, Wakka, Garnet, Eiko, Squall, Rinoa, Selphie, Aeris, Cloud, Tifa, Yuffie, Vincent, Celes, Locke, Edgar, Setzer, Sabin, Rydia, the twins, Edward, Edge, Leon and White Mage.

I just edited my post completely, since I realized it's not one character from each FF game it's just any ten favorites, so...

10.Squall (FFVIII) - The brooding lone wolf. He creates FF's best love story paired with Rinoa and I really liked his speech in Balamb Garden. (And I think the Lionheart Limit break is the most powerful attack ever in any FF, character or enemy. Talk about a thrashing!)
9. Edge (FFIV) - His personality is somewhat shallow, but his quote “Now I’ll show you the power…of ANGER!” remains one of the most powerful and emotional of any FF.
8. Kuja (FFIX) - The hopeless narcissist with all the deep quotes, Kuja makes for a badass bad guy.
7. Shadow (FFVI) - The deadly assassin shrouded in black, he has cool written all over him. His dreams are very intriguing, he has a badass sidekick, a great theme track, AND he...

6. Kain (FFIV) - The embodiment of the dragoon. Kain's constant rivalry with Cecil and unrequited love for Rosa made for a lot of the story. Plus he's just plain cool.
5. Rydia (FFIV) - The new genre of heroines, Rydia makes such a transformation during the game, from the little girl to the woman. Almost NOTHING is as memorable as when…

she comes in the Underworld while Golbez is kicking your ass and the music track changes into an awesome tone and she KICKS his ASS!

4. Beatrix (FFIX) - Probably the coolest female character in any FF game, perhaps even surpassing Rydia. She also has one of the best theme songs ever, “Loss of Me”. The accompaniment of her theme song with her bout of disillusionment on the Red Rose made for a great picture.
3. Locke Cole (FFVI) - The thief…I mean TREASURE HUNTER! Locke may be the best ever FF character. If I was playing Charades and was instructed to pantomime Final Fantasy, I would wink and mug someone. Locke also brings a lot of depth to the story with his tangled past and lost lover. No 16-bit figure can ever bring out as much personality.
2. Kefka (FFVI) - Quite possibly the greatest villain ever. Is it possible to hate anyone more? Calling Kefka warped is an understatement. This guy is insane, plain and simple. No laugh is more grating, no theme song more stirring. I hate him so much I love him.
1. Zidane Tribal (FFIX) - “You don’t need a reason to help people”. Zidane’s always there for everyone, and his shoes are the most fun to walk in of any Final Fantasy character. Although at first the cocky thief, he changes during the game and the scene in Pandemonium is one of the most emotional of any FF game.

Honorable mentions (How could you ask me to pick just 10???):
Rubicant (FFIV) - Who is Edge without his opposite?
General Leo (FFVI) - I wanted him on my team so bad.
Vivi (FFIX) - Appearances can be deceiving.
Blank (FFIX) - So cool, such a lifesaver
Golbez (FFIV) - Classic theme song, the Darth Vader of Final Fantasy.

SPEKKIO: "GRRR...That was most embarrassing!"

I don't really have a top ten list. Though, I can say hands down that Kefka is my favorite character. I mean, his plan actually worked for the most part. He's confident with himself. You have to be to dress the way he does. And he's just plan crazy and fun to watch. And he's got great quotes. (And in my opinion, he's the reason Sephiroth is even in existance.)

Wakka is another one of my favorites. He's one of those people you automaticly like once you see them. It is my belief that he would've made a better main character for 10. And I think his accent is sexy:D

Lulu is great too. Her personality kind of balances out the combined optimistic bubbliness of Yuna and Rikku. It's very rare when you see a female character like this that's not a villain. (At least, I've never seen it.) Now if only SquareEnix would have the sense to put her in 10-2.

Okay, guess what? I tallied up all of our responses because I was curious to find out who we liked the most and because it helped blow off some stress . Here's what I did: I gave a character 1 point if you voted him/her #10 and gave him/her 10 points if you voted him/her#1, and 9 points for #2 and so on and so on. Interesting results! There are more than 10 characters on this top ten because of a three way tie. Here are the results.

#10 Zidane (FF9)- 40 points. Just made the cut.

#9 Steiner (FF9)- 44 points. Got a lot of medium votes.

#8 Cid Highwind (FF7)- 45 points. Close call. I was pleasently surprised he placed.

#7 Lulu (FFX)- 50 points. God, she is hot.

#6 Kefka (FF6)- 59 points. Hate hate hate.

#5 Vivi (FF9)- 71 points. Little guy with some high votes.
#5 Shadow (FF6)- 71 points. Our favorite ninja.
#5 Kain (FF4)- 71 points. The official badass of FF4

#4 Cloud (FF7)- 74 points. Memory, identity, those things just hold a main character back. Hooray for spikey assed hair!

#3 Locke (FF6)- 77 points. Lucky 77 for the thief.. I mean treasure hunter. He seemed to gain momentum as I worked my way back to the 1rst post.

#2 Sephiroth (FF7)- 82 points. He had more #1's than anyone else. I was sure this badass had it. He was my #1 also.

#1 Auron (FFX)- 92 points. Won by a big margin. He had a lot of #2's and #3's, but the thing is so many people put him on their lists. 15 votes total. Kefka and Locke had 12 votes and Sephiroth had 11. True, he is mondo cool. I rated him #8. I hear a bunch of people complain about the character designer for FFX, but it seems most of us love Auron. It has to be the arm out of the sleeve. It has to be!

Runners up and their points: Squall and Barret with 39 points each, Tifa and Aeris with 38 each (fitting), Mog with 37, Nanaki36, Cecil35, Edgar Terra and Irvine with 34 each. Although we're a FF4 FF5 FF6 and FFT site and Setzer placed 3rd in our favorite FF6-character thread, he only scored a measley 14 points here, getting beat by 10 other FF6 characters. Furthermore, the post-FF6 characters outnumbered the others 8 to 4. It proves we're not closed minded toward newer games. Cool.

i want to let you know that i, at least, appreciate your tally and statisitcal interpretation of the results, as inaccurate as it may be scientifically i also like how you pointed out that we are not closed-minded toward newer games. i think what this shows more than anything is that we have recognised that square character DEVELOPMENT has progressed through the years, giving us much more detailed/developed/backstoried characters in the new-era games.

What would u say was the best ff character ever to grace whatever system they were on. I would have to say Kefka he is the undesputable best villain/character EVER. Even though u dont see much of him in the WOR until the final battle. But in the WOB u can see his gradual appraoch to evil and (he's funny ) and he dances a lot when he is mad and hes absolutely PERFECTED creepy laughing into an art form. And i never thought he would (supposedly) kill Gestahl ( Gogo=Gestahl we may never know) and who else but Kefka could have said "Son of a Submariner!"

5. Barret Wallace- He really is Mr. T, but he cares about the Earth, I bet he recycles

Even after all these years, Cecil's still my favorite character. He's a fantastic hero, a great sin-to-salvation story, and he always retains a tremendous inner strength. He's pretty darn powerful too. Why must we settle for the Squall's and Tidus' of the world these days?

Ok that poll is useless. There are well over a hundred FF characters, probably over two-hundred. Almost everyone is going to vote "any side character(specify)". Whether a character is a main character or not has little to do with who people choose for their favorites.

My favorite character of all time is Gau. In my opinion no other FF character is as unique or cool looking as him. He's got personality and good fighting ability to boot. There's no other FF character who excels in those four areas (uniqueness/appearance/personality/combat).

10 - Frog (Chrono Trigger) - don't rant at me for picking a non FF char, but you gotta admit, he's awesome.

9 - Leo (VI) - quite possibly my most wanted to play 1 minute scene ever

8 - Magus(Chrono Trigger) - ok, last of my CC chars, but he is so awesome with that scythe, schwing!

7 - Kain(IV) - always loved the jumpage on this guy, he was great to play with

6 - Red XIII (VII) - how awesome is it that a cat that good looking can talk too? so shweet

5 - Setzer (VI) - while not that powerful, overall with the cool hair, the richness, the ladies man aspect, a fun character to play with

4 - Zidane (IX) - a tail, and a really cool weapon, nuff said

3 - Mog (VI) - what a cool looking little guy, have always loved moogles, roxor on my friend

2 - Locke (VI) - was a close battle for 2 and 1, but it had to come down to it, and locke came up runner up, a really cool guy, liked his story and his attitude, really powerful with Illumina as well.

1 - Shadow(VI) - this could probably be expected as he wasn't any of my other top 10, so he had to be somewhere! what a cool guy, wish his ending was a bit different though.

This is the innapropriate forum, I'm pretty sure you didn't use the search option because your are new here, If you didn't please use it the next time you will create a topic.

Lucky for your, this topic only exists in the FFT forums and of course only for FFT characters.

I'd go with Celes, because she is confronted to many emotional things. Has to take hard decisions sometimes but she's always taking the good choice.
