There are about 10 red herrings in your question which I will not address.

1) There is no such thing as a character with 0 MBlock. Cyan, Edgar and Setzer have 1% "natural" MBlock%. Wedge and Biggs have 0% MBlock but you said that Celes or Gogo was in the party, so that party grouping is impossible. Therefore, all 4 party members have at least 1% MBlock. Just about all of the information given in party setup is irrelevant, as they provide no protection from FROZEN or CHARM statuses.

2) Cold Dust only sets 1 target. So one of two things has happened. a) you have hacked the Cold Dust spell to target the whole party. b) Cold Dust is occuring 4 times in 4 separate attacks. If the latter is the case, then there will be an opportunity for 3 untargetted characters to unFREEZE the frozen character. At the end of the 4 Cold Dust attack sequence less than 3 characters will have FROZEN status. But lets assume that the monster's SPEED is very fast and the characters' SPEED is extremely slow and all 4 are set to FROZEN. 4 FROZEN statuses is a Game Over condition.

Perhaps you meant N. Cross which targets all enemies and also sets FROZEN status. I am nearly certain that it always leaves 1 party member unaffected. So the true targetting is N-1, where N is the number of characters in your party. So one random party member does not have FROZEN status. N.Cross's status attack misses often, so it is very probable that less than N-1 will be affected. If the Runic character still has not absorbed a spell at this point, he/she could absorb N. Cross for a whopping 20 mp. But lets suppose that 3 of the 4 have FROZEN status to keep things interesting.

3) CHARM status is exactly like the MUDDLE status except that Remedy (spell or item) cannot remove it. It is highly possible that WOUND status will erase CHARM status; I have not confirmed this. CHARM misses alot so its very possible that any of the 4 would never receive this status. But lets suppose they did. If the single remaining unFROZEN character received CHARM status, then combat would continue with party member X (CHARMED) randomly attacking his own party members, himself or the enemy, until either the enemy or himself dies. One could also get lucky if the enemy casts any FIRE elemental spell and unFREEZEs other party members.

Okay, I wasn't going to give these things away, since I thought they added to the possible confusion, but Detah ill-interpretated the whole thing and I'm now forced to explain some things.

First off, the situation is highly hypothetical. I know there is no such things as a character with 0 % Magic Block, but I listed in to prevent people from saying "may or may not hit". I just wanted to make sure that under NO circumstance a spell that could be blocked will be blocked by these characters.
I am aware of the fact that nothing will protect against Frozen or Charm, and it's one of those fillers that I hoped might confuse people.

I was talking about eight consecutive and seperate attacks in the same turn. Nerapa, for instance, uses four times Condemned, each targetting another member. The same goes for Cold Dust and Charm. This gives you no opportunity to unfreeze your own party members at all, since even the Jump command can't intercept between consecutive attacks in a single turn.
I was NOT talking about N. Cross and it's not impossible for it to freeze your entire party. Unlikely, yes. But not impossible.

Detah gave some false info by saying that a fully frozen party gets you a game over. Four frozen party members won't give you a game over: just remember that the Freeze status wears off after a while, unlike Stone, Zombie and Death.

Detah also forgot to take in account that Charm hits all party members in four consecutive attacks too, not just the unfrozen one.

I hope I've cleared things up a bit. And Wound clears everything but Imp as far as I know, including Charm.

P.S.:

I don't believe I falsely interpreted anything in your question. I stated everything precisely as you worded it. Its not nice to throw around words like 'misinterpreted' with no basis.

FROZEN status functions just like STOP (it stops the ATB gauge from filling) but lasts longer. I am nearly certain that I have gotten the Game Over conclusion when my last party member received the FROZEN status. Maybe its not. You can be sure I will try to reconfirm this this weekend.

There is no monster (enemy or boss) in the game which casts Cold Dust 4 times in a row without ending its turn. Thats why I brought the point to begin with. This trivia thread is for FF6. I encourage people to stay away from hack-related or glitch-related questions and answers. Your question is almost entirely based on a hacked game: 0 MBlock% and enemies with attack scripts that don't exist. It would have been useful information if you stated explicitly that this is theoretical only. The trivial solution to your question as stated is 'All 4 party members are FROZEN and CHARMed.' Not very exciting and not likely to generate much interest. Other than that, the reader who has been following from the beginning will deduce that you have devised a trick question and you are bound to get 5 replies from people whose solution is 'You hacked your game'. Those people would be quite justified with such a response, in that we have already had a question whose solution was 'You are lying.'

A red herring is a piece of information that is supplied intentionally or not, with the outcome of misleading the reader to a false conclusion. 'Absorbs Ice' is a red herring because Cold Dust is not an Ice elemental attack and therefore has no bearing on this question at all.

Darn, you sound really angry. Twasn't my intention to bug you, so no need to raise ones voice (figurativaly speaking). With 'misinterpretation' I meant that you didn't understand what I was trying to say, which does not immediately means that it's your fault. I should've been more precise.

You are right when you say that this is almost entirely based on move combo's that don't appear in the game. But that doesn't cover it all. The answer to this question displays a bit of information that little people know (in fact, I've never heard this ever on the net before) and DOES appear in the normal game. Also, all the things you need to know to solve this question can be extracted from the normal game. This question just makes you put them together. I thought this would pose an interesting question that would make people search their brains a little before handing them the info.

A full-frozen party will give you no game over. I have proved it just minutes ago. You sure you're not confused by the Petrify status?

One last thing I have to say: You got the wrong answer. So it just might be more interesting and exciting then you thought.

Well, I'm not as knowledgeable as any Alexander-Avatared member I know of, but I can certainly guess, eh?

I don't think runic absorbs either spell, and I know Snow Muffler has no bearing on either, so I'll say that:

1st: Frozen
2nd: Frozen and Charmed
3rd: Frozen and Charmed
4th: Charmed

Incorrect.

I need to say here that the eight attacks go from top to bottom, as in: First Cold Dust no. 1, then Cold Dust no. 2, no. 3, no .4, then Charm no. 1, etc. It has no effect on the right/wrong answer, but it helps narrow down the answer I'll give you when nobody gets it.

Hoo boy, how about I end this?

But first, Detah, you're thinking FF9, and even there, Freeze won't end the game. That's Stop you're thinking of. In FF6, only Zombie, Petrify, and Wound will end the game.

Answer:

1st: Frozen, Charmed
2nd: Frozen
3rd: Frozen
4th: Frozen

Explanations:

128 M.Block is practically worthless once you're frozen/stopped/asleep, because with any of those statuses, you're open to any attack (it is as if all attacks against the victim suddenly gained a perfect hit rate... or unblockable, I can't recall which, I always say perfect hit rate). Cold Dust is unblockable anyway, and since Charm follows, its abysmal hit rate is a non-factor.

Snow Muffler absorbs Ice, and Cold Dust is Ice-elemental, but Ice absorption only functions damage/healing-wise, not when it comes to status, so Snow Muffler has no effect on Cold Dust anyway.

(as a side note, N. Cross is also Ice-elemental, but in that attack it has a purpose; when you absorb it with Runic, the MP gain will be screwed up by any Ice protection you may have. There's no known purpose to the Ice-elemental property in Cold Dust because...)

Runic can't absorb Cold Dust.

Charm isn't a status that can be defended against, and Freeze's immunity byte cannot be accessed via the monster stats without an assembly-level hack, so the almighty Magic Urn's defense won't cover for this. Well, hell, no one can actually, short of Jumping, making themselves untargetable, or rendering almost all attacks useless through bugs.

(another aside here, the only time I've seen 4th byte immunity used is by Cherub Down granting Float immunity)

Finally, you can only Charm one person at a time, so if we started from top to bottom, the first person will be charmed while Charm will miss everyone else.

The only way to heal it is to kill either the original caster or the victim, or at least get rid of one of them somehow BTW.

Thus this query should be concluded, unless I missed something.

I had been hoping for the climax in which I would grotesqualy answer this question with everything I knew, and perhaps throw something new onto the net because the "one-man-at-a-time" ability of Charm is something I've never read on the net.

Master ZED ruined it all. pinch.gif

Oh well, the question has been answered to full extent, and I wouldn't know what to add. The question goes to ZED.

When is the earliest time the party can use the Seizure ailment against an enemy outside of Terra's Bio Blast? Note that I will not accept Muddling enemies as an answer as I want this to be an attack a party member can use.

Ehr...I'm not supposed to answer this due to topic rules, but I'd like to ask a question anyway:

Do you mean being able to SEE the Seizure ailment in effect, or just being able to hypothetically set it for the first time, regardless the target survives the initial blow?

Both have different answers, as I'm sure you know.

According to your attack guide ZED, the TekMissile command can inflict a seizure status. So the answer would still be the very beggining of the game, correct?

And as my knowledge of the game is far less advanced then recent posters, we are going to take a step away from the technical side of the game for a short while.

Gau is wearing a tux. How did I accomplish this?

You took Sabin and Gau to Gau's Father's house in the WoR. He gets dressed up, learns table manners...and then is rejected by his father. But...

Gau...happy...

And in the end, isn't that what it's really all about?

Yeah, I also don't have any crazy algorithm/ridiculous status questions, so I'll just make a fun one. It's wicked easy, so try to do it straight from memory.

Out of the characters with an improvable special attack (meaning you can get more or them, like Gau's Rage or Edgar's tools), which is the first that you are able to "max out"? If the wording is confusing, lemme know.

if i'm not mistaken, you could "max out" cyan's swordtech right when you get him.

each of the other "improvable" special attacks cannot be completed until WoR: dance, lore, rage, tools.

The answer (I feel pretty cheap feeding of gozaru~ his answer, but it's not like I hadn't known otherwise) is Sabin's Blitz. He'll learn the final one, Bum Rush, at level 70. Never knew what happens when you take a > L. 70 Sabin to Duncan when you haven't spoken to him before. Anybody out there who cares to find out?

If this is not the answer, then io_rage was talking about Terra's personal magic, but I highly doubt it.

I was referring to Sabin. You're up.

Also, yeah, if Detah or Zed or someone else knows what happens when you talk to Duncan after level 70, I'd be curious.

Let's see, I'll try something non-hardcore this time.

Okay, here we go. The first character summons Golem. The second summons Phoenix. The thirth ZoneSeek. The fourth Alexandr. Then the first character summons Ramuh. How is this possible?

I'm pretty sure the game pretends you learned it from Duncan anyway so nothing special will happen, though it's been awhile so I could be wrong.

Magicite item. At least one of the first person's summons (Golem or Ramuh) occurred through the Magicite item.

Keep in mind that the game only prohibits repeated direct summoning of a specific esper by the same character in a battle, and also prohibits the switching of espers in battle.

Easy, the first summon (or last) could have been Magicite. If the first character happend to be Setzer he could have used slots resulting in either the first or final summon.

Edit
Do'h! Glenn got his up as I was posting

Too easy, huh?

You forget Gogo mimicing the item, though, which also could've been an option.

Also, I think that ZED is right about his guess. There is no text stored for an alternative "You're alive!" anyway, but I figured that it wouldn't be impossible for Duncan to engage the Bum Rush-learning scene anyway.

Okay...my turn, it seems...

A easy (read: quick) trivia question for whoever gets here knowing this fastest:
Where do you first meet each of your old friends and new allies in the WoR, and where do they join you? (Don't worry about saying Thamasa for Shadow.)

Well, the Shadow/Relm business depends on whether or not you did a certain thing earlier in the game, so I'll count that.

However, you have two of them wrong, Ancient.
