According to IMDb.com , there is now a hint of a plot available for Advent Children, the DVD only sequel to FF7. From the site itself:

"Plot Outline: Two years after Cloud & Co. saved the world from Sephiroth, the citizens of the planet begin suffering from a strange sickness called Seikon-Shoukougun. Meanwhile, Cloud has secluded himself, and is being haunted by demons in his past." (IMDb.com)

There are more plot details on the site itself, as well as Japanese voice actors.

According to the other voice acting parts of the guy that does Cloud, he also did the voice of Cloud for Kingdom Heart (Japanese version). Also, he did another part for a show as "Cloud Bit" whatever the heck that is.

But cool, now we know it's not the game translated to the movie screen.

I'm quite pleased at hearing this. I was seriously woried that they were just going to rehash the game with anew villian trying to dtake over the world. This new disease plot, while cliche, is alot better then a rehash would have been.

I'm really looking forward to this, and the plot details only double it. I liked the first FF movie, and it'll be awesome to see how they've progressed graphics-wise. It'll probably look so real that some people might mistake it for a live-action movie.

And no, I'm not a graphics whore, at least not with games. It's just that since I've become some small bit of an animator, I can see how much work people put into good graphics. It should be (and it is) appreciated.

im looking forward to the FFVII movie, but my question why does FFVII seem to get specail treatment, some Final Fantasys deserve special treatment, like FFVI and/or FFIX. I guess a lot of people consider FFVII the best FF of all time.

It certainly did have a massive following, when it came out. I think this might be because there were so many years between FF6 and FF7; people were hungry for the new FF when it finally came out, AND it was on a shiny new system too.

Nowadays, though, that probably wouldn't impress so much.

I heard a bit about the plot on some fan site a while ago. The site was kind of stupid with its speculation/FAQ section.

Either way, I still don't like the idea of a movie sequel. Especially when it has a plot that has been done more than once in Sci-Fi movies/novels.

I posted an entire article about this new dvd on another thread here called New FF VII: Advent Children Trailer Released. Advent of Children is going to be included with a re-release of Final Fantays VII. I hope this won't be another flop like Final Fantays: Spirits Within. Well, I guess the only way I'll find this out is to just wait and see the new movie.

Why the hell is everyone bashing The Spirits Within? I'll agree that ot probably flopped, and I can see why many people didn't like it, but I personally liked it a lot. Ah well. Hopefully, and I don't think this is too hard, the FFVII: AC will have a better plot than TSW.

umm, because the spirits within had nothing to do with final fantasy anything, people were expecting it to have something to do with final fantasy, not aliens and specters of aliens, and futuristic humans.

there is no remake of ff7 there never will be as long as ps2 is backward compatible and ps3 as well

this is sooo cool FF7 is by far one of the best final fantasy's!!! plus its got Sephrioth in it!
i've got some screenshots of the movie on my computer! it luks like Barret and Tifa might be in it aswell in new matrix type outfits.
