FFIX wasn't too bad of a game. Some of the people on this site love parts of it that I detest, like the fact that the (incredibly dreamy wonderful perfect hot) main character has a (cute adorable beautiful) tail. A tail.
The game plays like an adventure-cartoon. It's light-hearted in a lot of ways, even though parts of the plot aim to be serious. I think the entire thing is intended to come off as bright and cheerful, but not ludicrously so. (Compared to FFVII or FFX, it's a bloody birthday party.) The gameplay was decent; I don't recall any quirks in the battle system, etc., that really irritated me, and I liked the way the ability leveling was done. Unfortunately, the mini-games were irritating. I hated the card game (in my opinion, it was worse than the one in FFVIII, which I enjoyed) and everything to do with the chocobos. The plot, in my opinion, was mediocre. It had a lot of FFVIII's everything-snaps-together-in-a-bizarre-way-at-the-end thing going for it, but without quite as many leaps and bounds. Basically, I don't think FFIX was that much of a waste of time and money. I wish I'd waited for it to be out as a Greatest Hits instead of shelling out whatever absurd amount I paid when it was first released, and I don't think I'll ever play it again, but I wasn't too horribly disappointed by it. That's my take, anyway. -------------------- Veni, vidi, dormivi. |

Final Fantasy XI: Yes or No
FFIX I don't know which this is supposed to be about any more, but there are existing topics which are pretty much the same thing for either game. Please use those. |
