I want to ask something:
I my polish language teacher is paranoid. I see some of you saying that I just think that because she's a teacher and I'm a student (pupil?).
But I'm not the only person who consider's that woman paranoid, oh no. Most people she teaches or taught agree with the point.
She keeps having outbursts of rage, the explanations of wich sum up to the point that every student she encounters just wants to taunt, irritate, make fun of, or otherwise offense her.
That's not normal, is it?
What do you think of this? Do you know anybody like that?

Well, I don't know anyone like this, but yeah, that is DEFINITELY the behavior of a paranoid person. Either that, or she may be afraid of failing as a teacher.

I know at least one teacher like that, but things could happen you don't know about. For instance our teacher is paranoid and snaps at the younger pupils all the time because he's week and the older students pick on him.

I guess in instances like his you need to keep an open mind. You see, there ain't never just one single possibility that sth happens. She might not be paranoid, as Spoony said, she might be afrait of failing as a teacher.

BUT I am rather shocked tt such an emotionally volatile teacher is allowed to teach. If it's affecting your grades why not tell someone in the school who is of higher authority about it?

I had a teacher that smoked once and she would get like that if she had a nicotine fit, maybe that's what's wrong.

I hate a teacher who had random fits once in awhile. He was mostly nice and kind to everyone, which made him one of the schools most favorite teachers. But on some days, he would be mad. We would ask him and he would say he really didn't have a reason. At the start of the year he even told us that he sometimes has random fits over nothing, and he can't explain why.

He's still a cool teacher. One of the best in school.

I had a paranoid teacher once also. She always thought that we were conspiring against her (we were but that is unrelated). She was just sadistic.

THAT would be hard... she's the vice-principal.
I decided one thing though:
Since it's not her fault (she IS TRYING to be nice) I'm being nice towards her (even when she's angry...thank gods for arcade games as an outlet for emotion...)

Can't fight 'em - be nice.

Edit
Oh, and it's not affecting my grades that much (language class - essays mostly)

Right now I am doing my student teaching and trust me it is not uncommon for a teacher to be paranoid. I mean I have been teaching less then a year and I see everything that goes on. Kids don't think we see things but we do. The only problem is that we can't always hear what they are saying. I admit I wonder what some of my students are saying or thinking it is just human nature especially when your up in front of a bunch of kids trying to teach them. I have never seen a teacher that was overly paranoid, but I can understand it, especially if they have had a bad experience in the past or been teaching a long time. Also don't forget we (teachers) have to be watching students closely to make sure another Columbine doesn't happen.

Weird thing about paranoia - if you're constantly afraid of something happening, you will probably (inadvertently) find a way to make it happen eventually. Which is why I'm constantly paranoid of me randomly finding ten million dollars lying on my desk one day.
