What do you guys think of Legend of Dragoon? I thought it was a fantastic game. I loved the additions, the Dragoon transformation, attacks, and magic. Sure it had it's problems, but all games do.

it was pretty good i didnt get to terribly far though, i got to the ghost ship.... then i was playing megaman and using a gameshark, when i looked at my memory card through my game shark it said reformat, i didnt know what reformat meant and lost my lod save, the game was just to plain long to go back through right away. when i finally did decide to play through again my friend had taken it. so i only go to ghost ship, but it was pretty good aside from the combo attacks

Why didn't you like the additions? Were they too hard to perform or because it took too long to get new ones?

I only played less than an hour of that game, but it seemed okay. I heard from some it was a work of genius, and from others it was trash to the extreme. I guess I'm right in the middle. I didn't play enough to really get a good opinion. The Dragoon Transformations/Attacks looked awesome, though.

LoD was a fine PS RPG. The graphics and sound were top-notch, and the story was intriguing (if a bit hackneyed near the beginning). My only real complaint came with the characterization, which was sort of unbalanced. On one hand you had some truly fantastic characters, while others, like the "main" villain and female lead, were a mixture of senseless stereotype and just plain annoyance.
That being said, the game gets a thumbs-up from me. -------------------- "I always have a quotation for everything - it saves original thinking." ~Dorothy L. both reasons actually, certain ones had really odd timing. the only thing that helped at all was those relic things that made them be performed automatically. but those were expensive so ![]() -------------------- This one time I punched a bear in the forehead TO DEATH! I loved LoD.
The additions were interesting and new, but a little hard to master. However, once mastered, it added a new element to you 'click fight and watch' gameplay. The gameplay was a bit too 'controlled'. You couldn't switch between players like in later FF games. If it was Latiz's turn, but you wanted Dart to go firt, then TOUGH! It also bothered me that you couldn't use your 'item' command while you were a Dragoon. Oh, and one more thing. Worst. Voice Acting. Ever. But I did enjoy the game. I only stopped playing through it again cos I finally got a PS2! Hee hee! Weeee! |

Yeah, LoD did have some pretty terrible voice acting, especially from Dart.
But, the parts where you could not hear their vioces kicked ass... ![]() -------------------- *END TRANSMISSION* |

Though the FMV's were lacking, the game made you anticipate them so much it made you love it. I loved everything in this game! Darts armors kicked ass.... It is in comparison to Beowulf.

It seems that you liked this game as much as I did! To all you others, yes the voice acting wasn't the best, but I htought Sony did a pretty good job since it was the first time they tried something like that.

Ah, a good point. Everyone falls the first time. Though the CGs in general were very entertaining, especially the one of the last battle of the Dragon Campaign.

Hmmm... I was thinking of buying a copy of this game last time I was at my local Gaming Retail store..... Maybe I'll need to purchase it with part of my next pay check.

Yeah, having to actually earn your money is really stupid.
![]() To be on topic, I have to add that LoD is worth the $20 you'll pay to get it now that it's a Greatest Hit. I also really enjoyed the voice acting because I like anything really hoky/cheesey, so I really looked forward to some of the more hilarious additions and FMVs. the only reason why i like that game was because of the way the main character says "Double Slash!" and my friends would laugh cause I can say it exactly like him

You guys brought up a good point. That game can be addicting just because of how the characters say the Addition names. I always find myself saying stuff like "Final Burst!" "Rose Storm!" "Gaspless!" "Die! More and More!" "Perky Step!" etc.

![]() But, yes, I /really/ enjoyed the game. I don't know why. As mentioned earlier, there seems to be a lot of people on both sides. LOL! My friends and I noticed that too when we used to play it non-stop for a while. That is kind of nasty isn't it? Sometimes I just hate having a perverted/disgusting mindset on everything. ![]() To the topic, I think it was an awesome game. Anyone who totally hates it better have good reasons. I just can't see how anyone could hate a game with so many good qualities. I also think Sony genuinely tried to make the game difficult. Not being able to skip turns or use items as a dragoon are perfect examples. If you could, then the game would be overwhelmingly easier don't you all agree? Think about it and compare it to FFIX and you'll see an equal value of boredom and zero replay value. -------------------- "If it is weak, either kill it or ignore it. I, for one, played Legend of Dragoon and loved but hated it all at the same time. I do give Sony a lot of credit for what they did accomplish with it, being their first game of the sort. And the game.... it was more than fun to play through and beat. The CG cutscenes were awesome too. But just like most all companies competing in Squaresoft's shadow, they fall short on a lot of key aspects. Few companies really develop characters like the masters at Squaresoft, and Sony is no exception, especially on this, their first attempt. Of course....... I might be the pickiest gamer on the planet, so maybe just the fact that I enjoyed it enough to play it all the way through says something.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I also noticed where the beam of healing aimed at your party comes from when she casts Astral Drain. I can to this day still remember exactly the sound of Dart's voice naming each of his additions. "Burniiiiinnnng RUSH!" -------------------- *END TRANSMISSION* |

Did anyone actually use the Dragons when you turned into a Dragoon? I used them to see what they looked like, but I thought they weren't worth being used because they didn't cause all that much damage, and they drained a lot of MP too.

My bro bought this game around christmas a few years ago. He enjoyed it more then me. I'm a big RPG fan, but this kinda flopped for me. The addition system was interesting, but it seemed like one of those games that relied on super hard bosses to make it challenging, not my bottle of coke.

I love this game. The battle system is very cool. Item inventory seems lacking until you realize you don't need most of the available items.
