If you have a resumé what do you have on there for special skills? If you don't have a resumé, what would you put if you did? There seems to be quite a few computer gurus around here among other things. How worthy are you for the workforce? unsure.gif Well here's my list:
  1. Customer Service (public service at the library for 6 years)
  2. Typing (approx. 40 wpm)
  3. 10-key Calculator
  4. Windows 3.1/95/98/XP
  5. Microsoft Word/Excel
  6. HTML/CSS
  7. DOS
  8. Dynix Circulation System (library database system)

I'm baffled because today I found myself applying for a cashier job at a 50's nostalgia restaurant. dry.gif That's when I thought of making this thread. What an ish situation this is. I was kinda wondering if was legit to put HTML and CSS on there. They are two different kinds of code right? I've been working with this code a lot lately so I threw it on there. People will think I'm really smart now especially with my new webmaster e-mail address. laugh.gif

So what's up with you? Haha!

I'm borrowing this comment from elsewhere, but if you're not sure that HTML and CSS are in fact very different, perhaps you shouldn't be putting them on your resume. smile.gif

Kidding aside, here is what I have on my resume.

I don't know my typing speed or any of that, so I can't add it.

Put anything relevant. Can you speak two languages? That helps. Are you certified to perform First Aid? That is really good to have when working in service.

Here's what I actually have. I need to update my resume.

Computers - Proficient in both basic and advanced use of computers. Can effectively use the internet, email (both webbased and POP3), html, WordPerfect (up to the latest update), Adobe Photoshop 6.0, and others. Skilled typist, and adaptable to different types of computers and programs.

Languages - Bilingual (English and French)

im lost when it comes to computers. just the other day i replaced a modem, and choirs sang.

so heres what i got, in order of proficiency:

guitar/bass technician
hardwood floor installation and refinishing
butcher and processor
residential and industrial plumbing (i come from a loooong line)
sheetrock/drywall/spackling
basic auto mechanic work
shotgun repair and maintenance
basic residential electrical work

up until quite recently, ive worked around a lot of construction jobs since i was 4 years old going to work with my father. you pick up a lot of things by watching and helping other guys out.

if everyones a brain surgeon, there'd be nobody to build the hospitals, so thats where i come in.
