Hi, I'm new. I may or may not stick around, but if I do, you can bet I'll be changing my name.
Anyways, I'm not new to Tactics, and sorry if this is a repeat topic, but has anybody found any good use for Cloud? The other day, I started playing Tactics for the eighth time (yes, I have played it from end to end 7 times), and I have to say in my seven previous games, I never really found a place for Cloud in my party. I've taught him Braver, Meteorain, and everything in between, but they just take too long to charge, and don't do an appreciable amount of damage. Not when you compare it with Agrias and Orlandu anyway. I looked ahead and saw that OmniSlash and Cherry Blossom take even longer to charge. Are these attacks good enough to make me replace somebody with Cloud? Nice forum, by the way. |

Oh, and we don't usually let members change their names. But if you've got a good reason, fire away to me in PM. Cloud + Short Charge + Finish Touch = ^__^
Cloud can easily fit into any line-up, it's just that you have to have the Materia Blade to use his special skills. Some feel that having a 10-strength sword outweighs his usefulness, but you can decide. -------------------- It's gonna be a glorious day I feel my luck can change |

my party was very strong by the time i got cloud, but since it was cloud, whom i believe is the best ff character of all time, i had to use him, his skills come in very handy after getting short charge, he can be a huge help

I pick my characters based on who I like, not on their power level. After all, we'd all use Orlandu if this wasn't the case.

cloud is awsome, all my guys were lvl 50 when i got him and after like 10 hours he's teaching them all a lesson in humility (except uber-ramza) with short charge and move+2 or 3 and he can move anywhere in no time, then hack the enmy to shreds with his tight limit skills. the only thing i don't like is the materia blade with only an attack power of 10 it is no where near the destructive power of say javII or excalibur, but come on he's cloud! plus his hair is awsume...lol

I think having Cloud in Tactics is retarded. If I could have played 7 without him, I would have.

I never really found too much use for him either, and I was more appreciative of creating my own characters and building them as the game went along, that was one of the funnest parts of it all

The whole reason I like using Cloud is because when you get him it's just like buying a new soldier. I think he's as close to a 'special generic' as it gets. I wish you could get more special characters at level one. =/

Cloud would be a lot more useful if you could get him earlier. But you can't, so he's ultimately consigned to novelty value, at least for me. I think I once tried to go through his tech tree to see what he could do, but I got bored of levelling him up and stopped somewhere in the middle. I'm sure he could do some great damage eventually, but my party was too advanced to fit him in.

I usually use Agrias as the 5th party member instead of Cloud. At L99, Agrias still beats Cloud any day (Holy Sword/ equips Perfume)...

I have gotten cloud to lvl 50 and mastered his limit skills and he is AWEESOME. If ya use him enough, he starts being needed more in your party. Equip him with short charge and teleport and he is unstoppable!!! To all those who says Cloud is too weak and there is no room for him, go and get petrefied.

I think I'm just too old school... I absolutley cannot STAND magic based parties, and I hate waiting on an attack, like you are forced to do with Cloud. My party is usually full of either ninjas with armor, or knights with two swords, or lancers. Brute force, baby. Cloud fits into this kindof scheme ok, but by the time I get him Im not willing to invest that much effort into building him up. Im just not that big a fan of FFVII, I guess....

That's a possibility. In all of the hundreds of hours I've played Final Fantasy Tactics, I've only seen on enemy who had equipment that nullified all of the statuses Finishing Touch had to offer (I believe it was on Poeskas Lake). The 100% hit ratio coupled with an extremely fast speed is a very good reason to use Cloud, if you lack one.
It's just a shame that most of his skills depend on MA. That's probably a turning point in whether you'd want to level him up as a character endowed with good PA gain or a character with good MA gain. -------------------- It's gonna be a glorious day I feel my luck can change |

He's useful, but to be a bit more useful level him up and give short charge ability then he'll be invincible!!!!

Cloud is like the Archer, everybody thinks they're useless but if you set them up right they're pretty effective.
So what if the Materia Blade has an Attack value of 10, as has been pointed out Finish Touch is pretty overpowered. Omnislash and Cherry Blossom are just for looks I guess. And Teleport is the most awesome movement ability...until you run into a group of six red chocobos. -------------------- Now the story's played out like this. Just like a paperback novel. Let's rewrite an ending that fits. |
