I just kind of thought about the true villans in the Final Fantasy game series, and wonder if maybe there should have been a true female bad 'guy'. Or in future games will there ever be one? It doesn't really matter to me, but I wonder what others thought about a female villan. I mean most games it's a crazy male or kind of like Sin. A creature who likes to destroy things.

Id vote yes, cause it seems that (maybe wi8th the exception of 8 i havent beaten it) all the FF games had Female MAIN villains. I think there should be some games with female villians, why should it always fall to a guy to be the ultimate evil? Hell, if it's not always a guy it's a Demon or something but u never see any female villains as the final boss. So yeah, id like to see a few square games with female villians that arent minor characters. (People who die/redeem themselves after 1 or 2 fights)

FFIV: Zemus (male).
FFV: Exdeath (male)/NeoExdeath (neither).
FFVI: Kefka (male).
FFVII: Sephiroth (male).

SMRPG: Smithy (male).
Pokemon: Gary/[insert name of your GSC rival here] (male) (even if you choose to be a girl in Crystal).

But CT: Zeal (female)/Lavos (neither).

So there's obviously an imbalance, if you ask me. Now you'd have to work it out such that the fact that the villain is female doesn't make the game crappy or anything. Like, please no emphasis on the villain's being female. CT did a great job with Zeal. Of course, you could always turn someone like Zemus or Exdeath into a female (now what would you call them?).

I voted yes, although I'm between that and the "could care less" category. I'd like to see some not-used-much ideas in play.

Yes, indeed FF8 is the exception with your prime adversary being the Sorceress Ultimecia.

I have an expansion on Glenn Magus Harvey's post:
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
FF1 - Chaos
FF2 - Emperor
FF3 - Dark Cloud
FF4 - Zeromus
FF5 - Exdeath
FF6 - Kefka
FF7 - Sephiroth
FF8 - (Sorceress chick...)
FF9 - Dark Crystal...thing...
FF10 - Yevon
FF11 - ???? (No final boss?)
FF12 - ????
FFT - (Can't remember her name...)
FFTA - ????
FFMQ - (Don't remember, but probably male)
FFCC - (Can't remember his name...)

So, there's been a couple females
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
(8 & Tactics, unless I'm wrong on 8; I've never actually finished it).
More females villains could be nice, but I don't really care that much either way. As long as they keep the games good. happy.gif

Dark Cloud seemed to have femenine features to me.

Of course, you could always turn someone like Zemus or Exdeath into a female (now what would you call them?).

Zemus and Exdeath were both definitely male.
Zeromus and Neo-ExDeath seemed either genderless or "beyond genders."

I don't think gender of villain or main character or side-kick or villain's pet matters.

I could really care less what sex the villain is as long as the idea of them is original and good...I don't think it would be a good idea to make them all male though...it gets old if there aren't any female evils in the story every once in awhile at least.

I don't really care either. I think it would be cool if the FF series have more females as the main villians because females can just get as pyscho as the male counterpart. So if that does happen lets hope the games can still be good.

i agree there is an imbalance, i mean seriously, where's all the sadistic females that want to take over the world... yes there should be more female main bosses...

and Sbp92 just so you know the main boss of FFMQ is a Spiderish thing it's an 'it'

Sorry to go off topic, but FFX was NOT seymour. It was more sin. Sorry to correct you, though, Gambling cat.

Anyway, I could care less. It just needs to be a cool villian in my opinion. Someone evil like Sephiroth or someone phsyco like Seymour and Kefka. Thats what i'lll always think.

P.S. Does anyone else find seymour phsyco?? He was all "Death is the ultimate privlag, the ultimate gift, all shall die, free from this pain ful life." Just what I think.

Sin and Seymour both had an equal role in the game. Sin just seemed to reoccur more often, but didn't have as great of an impact until the final couple hours. Seymour orchestrated many things in the game with his Maester power, so I'd have to agree with Gambler Cat on that one. He has his Guado fist clenched around all of Spira.

-----------

As for the topic, I'd love to see more female antagonists, but only if they're not cheesy and lovey-dovey like FFX-2's Leblanc. Her speech and actions made my eyes bleed. She started off as a treasure hunter adamant on finding the rarest spheres and midway she turned into a plaything for Nooj, and she didn't get off that schtick.

We need more cold-blooded femmes, like..perhaps..Celia and Lede? happy.gif

i disagree with both of you >.< actually, sbq is correct and yevon is the correct final enemy. and the correct final enemy for 9 is NOT kuja but in fact necron, who came out of nowhere to piss off all the real plot-seekers and distract them from healing statuses in time. and dark cloud, like DP said, definitely had "feminine features," i.e. breasts (course, kuja also had feminine features O.o). oh, and Jesus/ajora was also male.

perosnally, i think there have bveen plenty of great female baddies in square games. miang was *evil.* so was zeal. adel and ultimecia were pretty menacing. how bout elena of the turks? and scarlet? lebla...ok, fine, she was a joke tongue.gif i mean, i like it how it is. personally, unless she's done *really* well, i don't think female baddies are as good as male baddies. i mean, i have nothing against girl characters, i love them as heroes, but they just dont always cut it as enemies. by the way...wasnt sephiroth a clone of the *female* jenova? wink.gif

Maybe so, but Altima was definately female. Anyhow, I don't have any problem with more female villains. However, all my favorites have been males. There seems to be more of a diversity in character with the males. All the females seem to fit the same power hungry mold, although this could be as a result of their lack of numbers. I don't think we need more females, but a few thrown in keeps it fresh.

I believe we are going with final bosses. Otherwise it would be Golbez for FF4 and we could argue The Emperor for FF6.

I think there should be more female villains in future FF games. They're just pretty cool, and bad guys are getting a tad old.

FF9...an old debate is raging through my head. nevermind.

Possible spoilers: highlight to view
despite the fact that Kuja is referred to as a male, if you look at him during cinemas, he clearly has breasts. this is not armor, or pecs, they are indeed female breasts and are much more apparent in some of the later cinemas. im sure this entry shall raise nine kinds of hell, but im sorry, he does. ive heard rumor that kuja was orginally planned to be female, but that it was changed. oh well. im not trying to lay this on some solid source, just what my eyes have seen.

Lol changeofheart. We talking about Female 'bad' guys not barely covered females in the video game world. Which isn't right..... dry.gif Kuja as a female? I must admit he does look kind of like a female but he is male. Or that's how I feel about it.
