in FF7 it was Great! what with the breeding, catching and bein able 2 get in2 secret areas. in FF8 the whole thing where they cud steal ur whistle was just plain annoyin! in FF9 the chocobo's looked really bad and digging 4 treasure got lame after about 20 times. in FF10 it got a little better n they looked a lot better than 8 and 9. and in FF10-2 it as ok as it went back to u catchin them n breedin them... -------------------- Jess.G |

You kinda just ruined your own point. Anyway, my answer is no. Each one needs to be different or you'd get bored. In order of goodie-ness, it goes FF7, FF9, FFX-2, FFX, FF8

Quote in FF8 the whole thing where they cud steal ur whistle was just plain annoyin! Maybe I'm going crazy, but I don't remember any chocobos at all in FF8. Do you remember anything more specific than that about their role? Any screenshots? I just remember Moombas. -------------------- I had an old signature. Now I've changed it. |

You could go into a forest, and there was this rubbish little guy, and then... chocobos. That's all I remember, such a small part of the game as it was. It linked into the Pocketstation mini-game Chocobo World or whatever, which allowed you to get some stuff that wasn't available in regular FF8 like Mini-Mog, except for how you couldn't actually obtain a Pocketstation, and I doubt many owners of the PC version put much work into it either; I certainly didn't.

In VIII, the chocobos served little purpose. All they did, along with the mini-game Tiddles mentioned, was get one card. And by the time you find a chocobo forest, you already have the Garden.
Despite that, the FFVIII chocobo game was fun. It was kinda like LightsOut and Concentration. I liked it better than the FFVII one, which was kinda stupid. I feel that the PSX chocobos have gotten progressively better, IX being the best. The mini game I enjoyed the most with chocobos is probably the IX's one. I don't know why, but I got into it and didn't leave it until it was done. Plus, there's one of the greatest music of the game when you dig...

8 and 10's chocobos were awful. 8's had nothing to do and 10's game was just frustrating ALL the time.
7's was sweet: the races were fun, 9's were okay, hot and cold was fun but frustrating at times Haven't reached 10's yet (mainly due to not having time to play it) -------------------- "Only the dead have seen the end of their quotes being misattributed to Plato." -George Santayana "The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here..." -Abraham Lincoln, prior to the discovery of Irony. |

yeah I thought IX's was good, although I did like VII's better but VII's got kinda annoying at times too because in order to get your chocobo to the best he can possibly be you have to feed him one green at a time, and that takes an amazingly rediclous amount of time. Other than that I liked VII's the best.

I liked FF9's the best. It gave me a sense of working for everything I got, along with the tedious ability-learning system. It was cool to ride the chocobos around everywhere and finally get to fly when you got a gold one. That is forty-three times better than being able to walk over land with one (FF7)
I liked how they could dig up cool items too. Getting the Black Robe before Disc 3? Oh yes. Oh yes. -------------------- It's gonna be a glorious day I feel my luck can change |

I loved the Chocobo mechanics in FF 7 the most: catch, race, breed. So enveloping, so interesting, so necessary for a kickarse summon. Also, I loved the Chocobo Hot and Cold minigame, it got old every now and then, but that's when you take a break from the game itself or just return to the regular plot.

I don't like any of the chocobo mini-games in any of the FFs. My favorite was FF6 where you just buy them and ride them. Simple and effective.
