But Kefka can simply fry both Sephy and Cloud with his Light of Judgement, and then make them Goners.

In theory, Kefka COULD do this, but uhm--he wouldnt. Why is that? Because apparently he can only do it once and chose to use it on some podunk villa when Celes is wandering around.

I've not played FFVII as much as FFVI, and even though Sephiroth was mostly silent (well, at least more so than Kefka) and conveyed the intelligent, strong, powerful, and extremely deadly type, Kefka was much funnier and destroyed an entire world (almost). He ALSO overthrew at least one of his superiors (was Leo his superior? I don't remember for sure. That would make two superiors if he was). Anyways, Kefka was, to put it succinctly, awesome.
P.S. Kefka also had a much cooler theme. Mwa-ha-ha-ha! -------------------- Wow. 1,000 posts. I miss you all now that I'm in boarding school! ;_; |

Well it is a tough question to think about and nearly impossible to answer.
Kefka? Sephiroth? My vote goes to Kefka and always will go to Kefka. Here's why. Ambition Both characters had the ambition to become respective Gods of their universes and let nothing stand in their way in order to attain the ambition. Noterity Both were feared and well known however there is a difference between the two. Sephiroth was feared because of his skill and mainly because he awed those ally or otherwise. Kefka on the other hand was feared because not only was he powerful but because everyone knew he was insane and would be a devil if he ever got his hands on more power. Fame Sephiroth was loved and admired even when he became villanous. Kefka was hated and despised. Inspiration Sephiroth was inspired by his "mother" to commit terrible acts of evil, but believed he was in the right. Kefka was inspired by pure selfish ambition and didn't care what good and evil means so long as he is satisfied. Manipulation Sephiroth was manipulated and manipulated others. If he acted alone, he would have been more notorious. Kefka (Does the Cult of Kefka count)? Kefka didn't really need to manipulate just backstab at the right time. Overall When a main antagonist is manipulated it makes a good story. But when the main antagonist is insane, humourous, unethical, doesn't need allies and actually succeeds, in my opinion Kefka is a clear winner. Not only that he was voted 2000 greatest villan of all time. This post has been edited by MorgueN on 11th December 2003 00:55 |

Kefka, Kefka, KEFKA! No question about it. I mean, when's the last time you've seen a villain like this? There's Sephiroth rip offs all over the place. I don't think I can say anything else about the matter since I would just be repeating everyone.
Hmm, you know, I think Kefka is more widely prefered over Sephiroth in the big picture. I was watching this fan rating show on G4 (video game channel) and they had one on the best video game villain. Kefka was #4 on the list. (It was a top 10 list) Sephiroth didn't even make it on the "close call" list. I'm not saying that's why I like him. I just thought people would be interested in that little bit of info. And I am not making this up. my vote goes to kefka, for he is the origonal crazy-@$$ villian
and sephiroth was the second and here are my reasons for choosing kefka kefka was very sadistically funny, while sephiroth rarely talked and showed no emotions kefka became crazy when infused with Possible spoilers: highlight to view while sephiroth was infused with some form of espar, can't remember too well Possible spoilers: highlight to view jenova cells which just plain prooves kefka is more origonal if you think about storyline on how they both became god-like powerful Possible spoilers: highlight to view kefka killed all the espars and absorbed there power as magicite, and sephiroth just got his by absorbing a lot of mako enerdy, no real effort invoved so ive chosen kefka mainly because he is more origonal, and had to do a lot of work to gain all that power -------------------- "Have you ever seen a baby do that before?" |

Ok, at first glance I am tempted to say Sephiroth all the way, but as I delve deeper...
1.) Kefka has the laugh 2.) Sephiroth has the laugh and shrug ^ Ok, Kefka's laugh is more annoying, which will prove effective in battle, and I believe the crazy physco that is Sephiroth crazy go nuts...more so that he already is. 1.) Kefka's crazy band of lovable screw ups 2.) Crazy clone guys that commit suicide on small whims of fancy Ok, in a gang war, who is going to be more effective...people who commit suicide b/c the took a breath, or thought about birds..or any other silly thing. Or a bunch of people in magitek armor. 1.) Kefka is pretty powerful when you fight him 2.) By the time you fight Sephiroth, he falls relatively quickly ^ Alright, this blow to Sephiroth's confidence will hinder his performance when going against this funny looking jester clothing doned guy. Ok, by looking at any possible aspects that I could think up of in two minutes, it looks like Kefka is going to come home victorious. -------------------- Those with no names know no bounds |

"CELES: Oh, that's really smart, Kefka! Disturb their delicate balance, and they'll go haywire...!"
Kefka was great! I wasn't really drawn in by Sephiroth. It seemed like they were going "look how cool Sephiroth is! isn't he the coolist looking villan? see how cool we made him?" and I was like "huh?" Sephiroth, the 14 year old girl's villan. No really! when the game came out there were all these little teen age girls swooning over him like that was his main fanbase. I know FFVII brought tons of new fans to the series but I've allways felt a little alienated by it. ... -------------------- The FF6*10 webring celebrates FF6's tenth anniversary with fanart (japanese). |

Kefka. His insanity would for sure help out a bit. He would be very sneaky and crafty and he'd be able to pull off some crazy attacks that Sephiroth wouldn't even see coming. And, Kefka is pure magical energy. Super Nova and whatever other spells Sephiroth has would do minimal damage at best.

I'd go with Kefka on this one.
Why? Let's look at the accomplishments of both characters: Kefka effectively slaughtered countless innocents, nearly killed off and absorbed most of the espers, obtained the power of the three statues, and then Destroyed the world only to plague its ruins in terror and assume a fallen angel form of a pure, magical power. Plus, his attacks are very conducive to a quick 1 on 1 battle. Sephiroth, on the other hand, ALMOST destroyed the world with Meteo after slaughtering a town and lighting it on fire. Sure, his mother was Jenova, but as said above his magic based attacks would do little to Kefka at his full power utilizing the magic shield of the statues (Gestahl's couldn't even deal any damage to him, remember? The statues absorb all magic between them.) Anyway, attack-wise I see Kefka at an advantage. Potentially, this would be merely a two turn fight if Kefka were to cast "Fallen one" and then "Train." Basically, I stand behind the true embodiment of evil in the Final Fantasy series: Kefka -------------------- Je ne t'aime plus, Mon amour... Je ne t'aime plus, Tous les jours... |

Nah, Fallen One and Goner would do it. Sephy's a goner anyways. And I believe I've started a thread similar to this one before.
Sephy: is insane. Kefka: is more insane, and sadistic as well. Sephy: is evil toward a not-intrinsically-evil end. Kefka: is evil because he likes to be evil. Sephy: burned a town. Kefka: poisoned an entire kingdom (surreptitiously, even, since it went through the water supply). Sephy: almost destroyed the world. Kefka: destroyed the world. Sephy: "My mommy and I will rule the world." Kefka: "$%&# that! I'm gonna destroy the world before you can even rule it!" Sephy: has absurdly long sword. Kefka: has evil light beam. Sephy: has one wing. (Balance, anybody?) Kefka: has four wings. Sephy: killed you-know-who. Kefka: killed you-know-who. (Hint: compare them, and figure out who you'd want more on your team.) Sephy: has nearly no emotion. Kefka: has fun killing stuff dead, and shows his sadistic nature heartily. Sephy: [no laugh]. Kefka: "Uwee hee hee hee hee!!!!!" Sephy: weird final forms. Kefka: final form exhibits one of the greatest pieces of irony EVER in the history of RPGs. Sephy: was confused (poor guy). Kefka: knew what he was doing, and actually liked being evil. Sephy: forgivable. Kefka: unforgivable. Sephy: can be de-equippted of materia, rendering his magic useless. Kefka: can't be untaught his spells. Sephy: *slashes at Kefka* Kefka: Uwee hee hee! You're so stupid! That was merely my image!!! Uwee hee hee! I hope what I wrote above was conclusive and comprehensive. Tough call, but I'd say Kefka wins out in the end. Kefka had already attained the power of a god by unlocking and mastering the powers of the three statues. As powerful as Sephiroth was, he had to wait until Meteor crashed into the planet to attain his true power, which never actually happened. Finally, Kefka has literally nothing to lose, his goal is the total destruction of existence. Sephiroth is always going to be worrying about his future, and that doubt in his head might keep him from going all out.

Possible spoilers: highlight to view he drained the power of the statues to become an all powerful magic being any way to go along with the topic i have to say that all the reasons listed above as to the reason why kefka would win are 'mostly' correct... however, like kefka, sephiroth is also insane, and the fact that he would destroy the world just to become part of it... well sounds pretty insane to me (i have only played the first disc of FF7 so if there is things in this post that are wrong, you have my apologies) therefor by the examples used in the above posts i too choose that kefka would be the winner (however not because of the insanity factor) -------------------- ~ A Hero Is Someone Who Stands When Their Legs Are Gone~ |

Kefka Would win a fight. Looking at it Kefka is more insane. Although the biss fight with Kefka was easier than the one with sephiroth , it seems as though the Kefka Fight SHOULD have been harder. Kefka was a god. Sephiroth wanted to be a god. He never actually achieved it. Sephiroth wanted to destroy the world to make himself all powerful, where as kefka was all powerful and wanted to slowly make others suffer at the same time create a monumant to non existance. The all powerful uber magicite mayhem rules sephiroths puny Super Nova. Shouldn't this be a poll BTW?

Funny thing is, sephy would ceartianly die.
Here's the thing, Sephiroth wanted to become one with the planet, right. He would absorb the likestream, and become VERY powerful. But unfortunantely, kefka destroys the planet that sephiroth IS. Well, there ya have it, Sephy loses. -------------------- "We're not tools of the government or anyone else. I wrote this last week in "Who would win in a fight?" thread.
WARNING: This is not serious Kefka vs. Sephiroth ROUND 1 ----> Fight! Oh! Kefka got mixed up in his clothes and Sephiroth took advantage of this and... and... decapitade Kefka with his Masamune. I think that we have a winner... oh! wait! Angels are coming directly from the sky and... resurrect Kefka. Oh! My god! End of the first round! Stay online to see the round 2 coming up next. PAUSE Are you ecologist? Are you in a continual battle to save the planet from the destruction because of some bosses who wants to make money? You want to become a hero? Then... kill a tree, kill X-Death.Legendary weapons not included ROUND 2 ----> Fight! Oh! Kefka didn't appreciated to been cut off and he seems willing to win this battle. Oh! My god! He cast Fire 3 on Sephi... he doesn't seem to suffer, but wait a minute, Sephiroth becomes all kind of colours. Life stream is coming from everywhere to fusion into Seph. Oh!...Ah!... Sephiroth begins to transform into a new entity... He looks like an angel, but he only has one wing. End of the 2nd round. PAUSE I want you to join Empire Army. Yes! In the Empire Army, you will be separated from your family and you won't see them again. Work day after day for a dictator and his clown who treat you like bulls... Be thrown in suicide commando, make you prisoner by the people of Doma and die from some poisoning. Be a part of the destruction of the world and be proud of it. Yes! Join the Empire Army now, because we're gonna kill you anyway. ROUND 3 ----> Fight! During this time, Kefka has summoned three statues and began to suck their power. The power morphed Kefka into... he looks like Sephiroth now but, he is even better. He, at least, has four wings. Wait a minute, he is saying something... Kefka: I'll crush you! Mha ha ha ha ha ha! Sephiroth: Shut your mouth! You stupid clown! Kefka: Listen, I'M A GOD and YOU ARE AN ANGEL Sephiroth: And? Kefka: Then, I'm more powerful than you Mha ha ha ha ha! Sephiroth: I don't think so! Ultima! Kefka: Oh! That tickles! Mha ha ha ha ha! Oh! Sephi, you deceived me! For this affront, I'll condamn you to stay in Inferno for eternity 'cuz I'm your boss and... Mine is longer than yours. Sephiroth: Ah! Christ! Kefka: Yes! It's me! Mha ha ha ha ha Oh! Oh! Kefka begins to cast his spell, Sephiroth tries to counter-spell but Kefka is too quick (He used Quick)... Sephiroth: Kefka, I'll return and this time, I'll crush ya! Kefka: Blah blah blah, goodbye and my condolences to Gesthal! I'll create a monument to non-existence Mha ha ha ha ha! Ya'll seem to misunderstand one thing, several of youhave gotten this wrong.
Sephiroth has *SEVEN* wings. Look at those thinga floating underneath his torso in the final battle...he's got six other wings keeping him up in the air....therefore, Sephiroth has more wings and that makes him look cooler in that aspect. ![]() All things aside, I think Kefka would crush him...although Spehiroth was a bastard in his own right, Kefka was far more ruthless and I think equally powerful, if not more so. Kefka had that sick fallen one attack, a kick ass army of monsters protecting him, and the Light of Judgement. Sephiroth wouldn't have a chance. |

OK...jsut to clear something up at the risk of going off topic...If we all remember right
Possible spoilers: highlight to view Once again ...sorry to go off topic but I just thought it might help to clear that up...feel free to correct me if you see anything I might have wrong. Life Stream was not being absorbed by Sephiroth...If you remember when Sephiroth summoned Meteor he explained to you that when the planet is pushed to the brink of destruction it absorbs whatever is the strongest on the planet in an attempt to use it's energy to fix it's self...therefore Sephiroth did not want to absorb lifestream,he wanted to be absorbed basically making him god of the planet since he would them have control of the lifestream and all the planets energy -------------------- Climhazzard is the timeless evil robot who runs some of the cool stuff at CoN (mostly logging chat, since there are no quizzes at the moment), all the while watching and waiting for his moment to take over the world. -Tiddles |

Kefka is insane, living inside his mind and doing what he wants, and Sephiroth is just plain evil - and therefore cunning.
Here's how the battle would go: Sephiroth, with his 7 foot katana, tries to slice Kefka in two, but Kefka is above mere mortal attacks and easily deflects any physical damage. Kefka hits Sephiroth with Ultima, which reduces Sephiroth by a quarter of his hp. Kefka gets ready and begins to summon Bahamut, but Sephiroth is ready. Because Sephy had been expecting this battle, he had started to pull Meteor down a few weeks before, and summons it now. Bahamut is summoned just as the Meteor comes crashing down, but this meteorite has ripped through entire planets and can't be stopped by a stupid dragon. Without any lifestream left to save them like in FF7, not only are Sephiroth, Kefka, and Bahamut wiped out - but so is the rest of the world. Let's just hope they were fighting in the Kingdom Hearts land. Now however, since I can guess from FF:AC, Sephiroth hasn't been completely killed, or one of his clones has survived or whatever, Sephiroth somehow survives the meteor crash, merely crippled. Sephiroth wins. -------------------- "Luck is my middle name. Sephiroth would take Kefka no problem...he woulden't even have to get close to him with that 20 foot sword! Not to mention Sephiroth aint human while Kefka is just infused with magic. Kefka wouldn't even be a condender if it weren't for the statues.

Reeaallly sorry to go off topic, but Angry Lizard, the sword was taller than Sephiroth, implying that it must be at LEAST 7 feet.
And in response to Sephiroth Possible spoilers: highlight to view I thought that using meteor would crash into the earth, and the planet would call forth energy, or the life stream, to fix the "wound". But Sephiroth would be there to absorb the life stream, and he would become the planet, although i may be wrong, i haven't played it in 2 years. Kefka would definatly win because one he is crazier then Sephiroth and two he has strong backers. The Cult of Kefka would tear apart the little clones of Sephiroth who could not do anything. Also Kefka was closer to being a god then Sephiroth was, Kefka could destroy any area he wanted in a second while Sephiroth could only summon a meteor and wait for it to fall.

kefka vs sephiroth...hrmm...i say kefka
Possible spoilers: highlight to view think about it. even if the statues were destroyed...kefka was still pure magical energy. Even though he was originally infused with magic...he transformed beyond that. lets start the situation with kefka having already cast safe to help with sephs sword...then cast shell and reflect to counter sephiroths spells...life3 in case he should die...equipped with 2 drainers...relics are offering and genji glove...and force armor... Possible spoilers: highlight to view the first sephiroth was frozen i think. his clones brought him back to life as well as the black materia. Cloud...a failed clone i guess...considering he didnt have a number...delivered this to him. Materia can only be slipped into slots in the weapons and armor...so lets start sephiroth off with one slot black materia...and then from there it was up to him. Lets just say he slapped in master magic-all master command-all master summon-quad magic...just to give him all the power of the materia....then lets just slap in the w-summon and w-magic just in case cuz im not sure if thats included in the command package or not... now then. quadmagic-knights of the round with w-summon would potentially do 959904 pts of damage IF each hit did 9999 and IF the quadmagic worked both times. now...kefka in his mightyness would die...life3 would ressurect him. in his rage he would prob use life3 on himself and ultima on sephiroth...(yes life3 does ignore the reflect...i did it in the fanatics tower). Sephiroth would heal with w-magic and prob use ultima as well...killing kefka once again...ressurected with life3 again. kefka would use life3/haste. sephiroth would once again use KOTR (sry im not spelling knights of the round every time) which would kill sephiroth who is ressurected with life3 AGAIN...see where this is going?? Kefka gets up...casts STOP on sephiroth...life3 on himself. Sephiroth is stopped...so kefka uses an elixer. Then he uses the drainer 8 times on sephiroth (thnx to genji glove/offering) to heal his mp. sephiroth unstops...and slams kefka with KOTR again...which kills him...and hes ressurected. kefka casts stop...then life3. then heals with an elixer. then casts VANISH on sephiroth. sephiroth unstops and casts KOTR. kefka dies and is brought back. he casts life3 and x-zone which banishes sephiroth to the void. :final fantasy 6 victory music: This post has been edited by Vengeance on 18th April 2004 20:22 -------------------- ---------------------------------------- | THE INSANE ONE HAS SPOKEN | ---------------------------------------- http://www.anzwers.org/free/vengeance/ |

I feel both were equally evil. No hands down. I can't compare them.

WOW!! Kefka 40 and Sephiroth 36 ...I didn't expect for it to be that close...I figured Kefka would win by far seeing as how we are on CoN, heh. Anyway, I went with Sephiroth for about the same reason as TheRandy went with him. Excellent choice TRR.
