Wondering which characters you gave magic to and who you didn't? I thought about not giving certain characters magic like Gau, Gogo, Umaro, and maybe Strago (not sure yet). You can probably guess why I'm thinking about not giving these guys magic. So I'm just wondering.

Uhh, depends what I'm doing.
If I'm playing a normal playthrough, I give everyone magic (besides Umaro, obviously). If I'm attempting a natural magic game, nobody gets magic! Anyway, why would you not want to give anyone magic? -------------------- Little miss Muffet, sat on her tuffet, Eating her curds and... WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! |

Well, I usually give Sabin and Edgar every spell that I have, and I usually leave Gau spell-free, since he diesn't really need them that much. I put espers on the characters I use the most, and henceforth, they are the ones most likely to get the magic.

Normally, I give everybody every magic, I don't care to take a day to boost my characters in the Cactrot desert

I give everyone magic, and I wait to give Shadow magic until I'm done with the Colosseum

i use espers to build stats at level up, so whatever happens to be on said espers are what spells the character in question will learn. once someone gets to level 99, and stats cant be raised anymore i will teach them every single spell that they dont have already.

I'm doing this on my current run through the game, but I used to go for every spell and then go for max level... It wasn't exactly the best strategy, since I lost several levels I could have had to work with for Esper bonuses. ![]() -------------------- --sbq92 <>< |

I never cared about stat bonuses, and what I've been doing on my main game is having all the characters learn every spell there is, except possibly Merton (which I find cool but useless). I've even kept track of who's finished learning from what esper, and who's equipped with which esper. Doing this enables me to say that characters like Gau, Strago, and Terra are truly some of the most powerful characters in the game, and it also allows for more flexability in battles. This way I don't really have to worry about balancing out magic users and characters without/with very little magic in my teams that enter Kefka's Tower, and stuff like that. I just need to look at relative stats and abilities, and if I'm in a tight fix, I can heal my team with any character (except Umaro).
By the way, Gogo and Umaro can't learn magic from magicite anyways. Gogo simply gets the aggregate spell repertoire of the rest of the team, if you give him/her the magic command, and Umaro doesn't use magic anyways. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. I usually got all the espers before making my characters learn magic. First I teach Shadow every freakin' spell he can learn. Then Relm, then Edgar. After that, I give Gogo, Gau, Sabin, Mog, and Strago Ultima spell. Then I bash Kefka.

I usually wait til I get the Esper or Item that can teach Magic and then teach it to my characters.

I give every character at least Scarlet Esper (minus the cure 3). This gives everyone in my party the ability to heal outside of battle and I don't spend any amount of time learning magic. These are my neglected characters:
Strago (Lore as off.), Setzer (main cause I don't use him), Shadow (throw for off.), Cyan (Swrdtech off.), Umaro (obvious), Relm (don't use her, but if I did I'd load her up with magic), Gau (rage), Mog (just attack). The other 6, you know who they are get most magics because they are either a) in my party at the beginning of the WoR and get magic throughout or ![]() On these guys I focus on a few basic off. magics, they probably learned bmost of the others in WoB anyways. Here's the list: Fire/Ice/Lit 3 Life 2/Cure 3 Flare/ Pearl Rasp/Osmose Meteor X-Zone I think that's about it. As I said, these guys usually have most spells by the end of the game anyways, I just make sure they have the powerful stuff for either the fanatics tower or Kefkas tower. -------------------- Some people choose the road straight and narrow, Some people walk the road less travelled, I cut through the woods. |

Everyone gets magic eventually, but Mog, Sabin, and for consistency in the storyline, either Terra or Celes will get the better magic first. Mog was the first to get all the level 3 magics.

I usually give magic and levels to three characters so that each one can lead a party into Kefka's Tower. Most of the time, this is Terra, Celes, and Random Party Member X.
