I noticed the ability Monster Skill to be one of the Support Abilities of the squire class. Can anyone tell me how it works, exactly? Its not like its a selectable ability. I have a red chocobo I like to use in battle, and he would be perfect if only he had Choco Cure (or some sort of curing ability). How can I get him to learn it? Any help would be good. Thanks in advance.

Monster Skill is the support ability that directly effects friendly (ally) monsters. In easy terms, it temporarily teaches the monster a new attack that can help you on travels. It says in the definition that the monster can be three spaces away for it to work, but it's an error--it has to be one adjacent panel away.
If you want a complete list of the abilities learned, you can find them here. In my opinion, Monster Skill is only as good as the monsters you use. Monsters tend to be overlooked because their skills never permanently change and they're usually outclassed by humans. But if you look at, say, the Behemoth... I see... so in order for a monster to use a new skill, it has to be standing next to someone with monster skill? In otherwords, my Red Chocobo can use Choco Cure so long as Ramza (with monster Skill equipped) is standing right next to him.

That is correct.
Has anyone attempted a Pokemon style run through of FFT? That is, has anyone here gone through the whole game with only Ramza + 4 monsters? -------------------- Little miss Muffet, sat on her tuffet, Eating her curds and... WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! |

Dude, I just posted that topic earlier tonight! (See Monster Mash) I too was wondering if anyone had attempted a Ramza + 4 Monsters team. I think it'd be a cool idea. Especially with Ramza using Monster Skill to increase his teams abilities, it'd be a pretty heavy hitting attack force.

Yeah, I've tried it, but I didn't include Ramza for anything but storyline battles. Monster Skill would be 'cheating', as far as I can see it because it temporarily gives them an attack they wouldn't normally have. I guess you can use it if you need it or something, but...yeah =p
Oh yeah, I made this thread awhile back. You can find it here. -------------------- It's gonna be a glorious day I feel my luck can change |
