Kappa. I know how to acquire new rages with Gau, you bloody little green phallus - I learned that the first ten times I played the game... now leave me alone already!
Oh, and let's not forget those snoots in the Jidoor auction house. Clearly, though, the better part of why I so despise them is that they keep buying worthless items (using the same dialogue every time) when all I really came for was my Magicite. It was a good concept for the first time or two you play the game, but had the designers thought more about the replay value, I think they'd have put in an alternative (maybe put them up for regular sale somewhere else at an outrageous price or something). |

Now that I've thought about it he's definately my least favorite character too. Relm. Sure, she's spunky and a cute kid and likes to swear, but I've never liked little girls as characters in video games. Sure, controlling a monster is really cool, but I just don't like the character enough to take advantage of it. I feel the same way about Porom (FF4), Cara (FF5), and Eiko (FF9). Rydia was okay, though, because she grew up.
![]() But anyway, that's off-topic. My main point is that I don't really like Relm. -------------------- --sbq92 <>< |

Gau and Cyan. I just don't have the patience to
1. Fight on the veldt just to get more rages 2. I don't like Locke just because he's so overrated and weak. A lot of people seem to use him despite his uselessness in battle. That's not so bad because it's perfectly alright to use the characters you want for their personality and/or appearance, but what's really ridiculous is when people start claiming how wonderful he is because of the Offering and Genji Glove combo. You can't get the Offering until the game is almost over. The only other time Locke is fun to use is when you give him a Genji Glove with dual Hawk Eyes in Thamasa, but that's only because you have to use him. By that time he's quite under-leveled compared to the best characters, so once you get them all back there's no place for Locke in your party. Plus Hawk Eyes become obsolete after a little while, and I don't think there are any other thrown weapons miming the throw command in the game's collection of weapon for Locke.
Setzer is similar to Locke when it comes to popularity. His stats are way below average and his attacks are weak and yet I've heard many times "Fixed Dice + Genji Glove + Offering w00t!". Sadly there's nothing to "w00t" about throughout the other 95% of the game despite the fact that getting 3 bars is mildly entertaining. Now maybe my perception is off but I get the idea that many people use groups consisting of characters like Locke, Setzer, Celes and Edgar. Is this more popular than using groups like Gau, Sabin, Shadow and Strago? Probably. I just have a problem with people praising the worst characters in the game while at the same time claiming how useless Gau is. Grrr. ![]() Overall I don't really dislike any of the characters for who they are though I do favor the stronger ones over the weaker ones, especially the underrated characters. Therefore Locke, Setzer and Umaro are my least favorite characters. my least character is by far relm... followed closely by gau and umaro... relm is just far to annoying and bratty for me to include in my party... gau is second least because i am not patient enough to get all the rages... also because he doesn't speak proper english. umaro is third because you can't control him, you can't equip him, and is another character who cannot speak proper english

I hate so many characters its not even funny, but I get favorites like that a lot... I can't stand Relm and Strago, they're always really weak for me and I hate having to level them up for Kefka... then there's Cyan, I can't stand letting those monsters pound me while I sit here fiddling my thumbs as his Swordtech bar raises... Shadow looks cool... but I have found no usefullness for throwing weapons... Mog... his dances are annoying and fail too many times for me... Setzer sucks... can't stand the bars and attacks are weak... Umaro is alright... but he never attacks who I want him to... Man... I hate way too many characters in this game... but I still love it...

Im on the bandwagon with Relm, but Cid did not far fall behind. He was an embarrasment to the Cids, (then again Cid FFVIII was way worse) I never ever used Relm outside of where u have to. And her skill was something i could do without.

Quote Setzer is similar to Locke when it comes to popularity. His stats are way below average and his attacks are weak and yet I've heard many times "Fixed Dice + Genji Glove + Offering w00t!". Sadly there's nothing to "w00t" about throughout the other 95% of the game despite the fact that getting 3 bars is mildly entertaining. Hey now, i90, be careful with that Setzer-trashin' mouth of yours. ![]() For one, using the information about manipulating the SLOT skill, Setzer can be used for free Magicite (not that big of a deal) summons and Bahamut (woooo!) summons. Furthermore, his Fixed Dice + Genji Glove + Offering combo is rather devastating. I don't know about you, but the first thing I do once I get Setzer in my party (usually with Mog and his Moogle Charm) during the WoR is make a quick trip to Kefka's tower in order to get the Fixed Dice. That way, I have a hard-hitting character throughout the WoR--ESPECIALLY once I get the Offering relic. Thus, this combination of relics and Fixed Dice lasts for much longer than merely 5% of the game. Add to this some Esper leveling and you have yourself a fine addition to your party. Sure, Setzer is a bit lacking before you can get his super weapon... but he is never a detriment to your party's survival. I find myself always using Setzer as much as possible after he becomes playable due to the nature of his character and loving the slot skill. I can see your qualms with him, though, and just merely wanted to present my take on him--every character in this game, if used a certain way, can become very useful to the party. I would have to say that my least favorite characters would have to be: Gogo, Umaro, and Relm. While I used to despise Gau, he and his rages are growing on me. Gogo just lacks character, and his mimicry only does half-assed damage. Umaro is uncontrollable and without character (!?!?!?!) which rules him out for me. Relm, while having ties with Shadow, one of my favorites, just doesn't do it for me. Her attitude is unappealing though her skill is interesting. Pretty much, I just feel that she could have been left out of the game. -------------------- Je ne t'aime plus, Mon amour... Je ne t'aime plus, Tous les jours... |

Relm annoying. Something inside of me just wont let me kill monsters with a friggin paintbrush. I kept putting her in the moogle suit so she'd look more like friggin cool-ass Mog. Ohmygod I hate her so much!
![]() I don't remember the bit with Kappa. But I like imps. Hehe, so it's not him. Setzer was pretty lame. I felt like saying, "Get a life! You're just a flying hobo who goes around stealing girls, idiot." And his skills are useless. One more time of seeing that DAMN rabbit and I may break the controller. ![]() Hmm...who else. Terra could be annoying sometimes. Whiney, mopey, "Me me me me me me." Even the Mobliz children are more mature than her Banon's whole holier-than-thou charade, making you take him to bloody Narshe. The only consolation to his idiocy is Health. Cid rocks. I can just imagine him waddling like a penguin in that cool-ass penguin suit. ![]() -------------------- "Luck is my middle name. Actually, there is one in the world of Ruin. It's called Sniper and it's for sale at Jidoor. The characters I disliked most were Shadow(his personality was too cliche and I hate throwing weapons I spent money on) and Gau (merely because he had very little important contribution to the overall story....but he kicked ass in battle, so I guess I can forgive him) ![]() |

I don't really hate anyone based on personality. I guess I'm just more tolerant than most people. And I sort of look for their personal usefulness (story and battle), rather than their flaws.
But this is a list of people who I think have the worst Abilities: The Ghost Celes - Ability is useful exactly once. Locke - Extremely limited usefulness. Setzer - You can either waste money or you can waste time on a bug. Gogo - I did the same exact thing I did a second ago. Yippee. Then adding others' abilities to his command window is just redundant. I guess Terra's is useful, but you can't really use it that often. -------------------- "I had to write four novels before they let me write comic books." -Brad Meltzer |

Relm is useless unless you want all the Lore magic. After that she can go back the airship and let the aldults fight. While she has the best magic power in the game, by one or two points I believe, she has poor weapon selection, giving her zero offense besides the magic which you need to build up from scratch at a point in the game when your other characters have a good selection of weapons and magic at their disposal.
I've seen a couple Locke bashings here and I'd like to defend him as being a useful character. No gengi gloves or offerings, too cheap. Put these away and you still have an excellent character. He can equipe some of the best weapons and armor in the game (Illumina, Ragn, Excaliber, Wing Edge (which is a back row weapon with excellent power)). His usefulness increases in the expert version due to excellent evade skills and high speed for less time between attacks. You also need to use him right after getting espers, giving him a head start on learning magic. Sure he's no Sabin, Edgar or Gau with an overpowered free special technique, but he's a strong front row, or back row fighter depending on his weapon selection. Steal isn't too useful, but against some bosses you get some excellent items (mostly late in the game though). -------------------- Some people choose the road straight and narrow, Some people walk the road less travelled, I cut through the woods. |

Setzer, because his slot is too unreliable
Terra, because Morph takes 255 magic points to reload completly Cyan, because it's technique takes time to charge. If at least, you could control other party members during his charge. I like most of the chars cept the following
Gau, Strago, Sabin Gau: I hate lvling..and with gau not only do you need to lvl, but you also have to train his rages, even then he serves no plot purpose whatso ever, if he was missing from the game you'd never even know. Strago: pretty much same as above, with a (more) annoying personality, have to train for stupid lores, which I'll never use anyway, at least he has good magic stats and is controllable. Sabin: I don't like muscle heads, and I never got good doing his blitzes, don't like claws either, he has his uses I'll admit, but I'd rather have others in my party. Sabin is the closest to being off of this list just cause he does so much dmg. I'd like to say on locke's behalf that his real str is evasion, on expert version I had him equiped with duel theif knifes for a very long time, he'd almost never get hit and the duel weapons made up for the lesser amount of dmg he was doing per hit. Not only that but the steals they activated got me lots of useful free items that I used later in the game like tiniture and potions. -------------------- "I will be the last, and you will go first!" -Saravok "Silence Dog. I could never use Gau. I hated the amount of skills in the Rage command that I hardly used him. I only used him in the Serpent's Trench and the battle with Kefka's squadrons at Narshe. The game was still pretty easy, so Rages weren't necessary to me.
Also to the people putting down Locke, shut up or I will burn you with hot toast. I never found him to be weak and I never found him to be strong. He was average stats-wise with highest speed in the game. Shadow is 2 points close, but I liked Locke better anyway. Locke has the ability to steal and MUG enemies. Yes, Mug > Steal. Without Locke, you'll never be able to get the strongest headgear in the game from Hidon. He can even steal very strong weapons earlier in the game and especially around Zozo. You gain plenty of nice relics through Locke's thieverish commands and did I forget to mention Megalixirs!? |

i hate strago. hes a feeble old man with a crappy skill IMO. its a pain just to get all his lores. to get them easier, youd have to bring relm along. and shes my second least favorite char. so i just leave them on the airship all the time.
i just never used his lore skill. at all. i thought most of em were pretty useless. not to mention, plain ol' magic is way better anyway. oh and i also think locke is pretty useless. i only use him when i HAVE to. not to mention i think his personality/character is soo boring. Cyan's SwdTch takes too long to load. It's fine if I have someone with an offering go before him, because I let him load up while they're attacking, but that's kind of annoying, so I don't use Cyan a whole lot. I don't really like Gau either, because he gets annoying when he's in a rage and keeps using the same move over and over! It was twice as bad when I had Gau and Gogo--whom I enjoy using for some reason--in the same party. Not only would Gau keep wasting his turn, but Gogo would too. And of course, Banon kept dying in that battle with Ultros.
Outside of battle complaints, I found Strago funny, but he kind of got on my nerves a bit too. Like, hello! You're not seventeen anymore; you're seventy! Well I love all the characters in their own special way, except Banon cuz he's an expletive. Other than that, if I had to pick a part member character I'd say I was never a huge fan of Umaro.

My least favorite character would have to be Umaro. Don't get me wrong, he is my favorite but at the same time my least favorite. He has awesome strength, HP, Relics (that only HE can equip), and overall good status! But the reason why Umaro is my least favorite character is that you can't control him (becomes a pain when all your characters are dead and Umaro is low in HP and can't heal himself), he can't cast magic (unless you use cheat codes), and you can't equip him with any better weapons which means he battle power stays the same unless you level him up at a good level. But you can't have higher strength at a low level. He as very good points, but these points throw him off and make having this character a big disadvantage to you.

Heh... I like all of the normal party characters except for Umaro because all he does is hit things over and over and over (ad nauseum). I don't have much of anything against Strago, and I actually find Relm interesting... I always wonder what she'll be like in the future. That, and once you teach her some good spells... kaboom!

Out of the characters that are actually on your team I would have to say Strago. I just don't like him for some inexplicable reason. I'd even say I'm a big fan of Lores, and yet, I just can't stand Strago sometimes |

Kefka - I never got the hype about this guy. He was just fruity and an embarassement as a last boss. Thankfully, you get to beat on him with pointy objects. But Kefka? A terrible villain? Heck no. Just a clown without his circus.
Terra - This character was broken, developement-wise. I didn't like her frightened-little-girl persona, or rather, how Square pulled it off ("I NEED LOVE!!!! ASL PLZ! Oh hi Locke, will you bang me? Ok fine, screw you Celes, I'll just give Leo a shot. Leo? ...Shadow? C'mere you, I like me a man with a big... dog... ![]() Cyan - Kinda useful in a LLG because you can get a free stronger-than-usual hit with him every turn. But I didn't like his persona for some reason I can't quite figure out, and the SwdTech skill was poorly implanted, IMO. Cid - You want fish? I'LL GIVE YOU FISH, YOU YELLOW-CONDOM-WEARING BORE! ![]() Honorary mention: Gau - I used to hate this guy because, let's face it, he's pretty much useless when everyone else can hit stuff 8x with glowing blades of doom and destruction. The only thing I liked about Terra was her theme song. There is a bit of hope for her at the end when she took care of an orphanage and she became more of a responsible/mother type, but I guess she was as confused as any other whore teen girl at the age of 15-16. A tad bit confused to me. So she's ok in the World of Ruin, maybe reality got into her head by that time. She will probably have 25 cats when shes old.
Cyan had a good personality until we reach the World of Ruin, when his character fell apart. I liked Cyan though, his story was somewhat compelling when his family died. But still one of my favorite, even if his Swdtech wasn't implemented correctly, he could equip awesome weapons like the Scimitar and the Sky Render. Retort was really good though it the beginning levels, its the second one, as it unleashes a very powerful counter attack. Quadra slam was also pretty good. Ok for the list of characters who pissed me off. Relm and Strago - Simply annoying characters. Setzer - I never liked setzer, he looked like a goth who has just been antiqued (where you take a handful of flour and throw it in someones face while they're sleeping). His background story sucked, and I never use him. Celes - Never liked Celes, even if she is in my party. What the hell is she wearing, some sort of bathing suit with a cape! Probably more slutty than Terra, but isn't as clueless and really cold. Locke saved her because he is a player. Runic isn't very useful, I prefer Terra's Morph but its useless at high levels. Cid - Why the hell are you wearing a raincoat, is it raining? -------------------- Who is Byblos? |
