Dragon Warrior was my first RPG and I'd have to say that Dragon Warrior IV was my favorite out of the series. How many of you agree with me?If you don't then what was your Favorite one?Did you ever beat them? In my opinion they were hard.

The only DW game i played was Dragon Warrior 1 for the NES. I love that game and I still play it all the time. I only play it when I just feel like random leveling. The lack of story has kept me from playing any of the other titles. However I have thought about trying DW7 due to its popularity in Japan.

Dragon Warrior 1 was also my first RPG and is my favorite of the series. That's probably because I have so many great memories of playing this game back in the day. It was only my second NES game so I played it a lot since my NES game library was quite limited at the time. smile.gif This was also one of the few games my mom ever got into so we took turns training up for the tough battles ahead. It was cool how the dragon's castle is right across the water from the starting point of the game, and the exploration aspect of the game is incredible. It was really cool traveling into unknown areas unsure of what monsters are lurking. You just don't get that kind of fear in more modern RPGs. Though I do wonder, has the Dragon Warrior (or Dragon Quest) series retained the diffculty of the first game or has it been watered down like in most RPGs?

Dragon Warrior is one of the great classics.

Dragon Warrior was the first RPG I ever owned, and it was awesome. I picked up DW2, 3, 4 as well. 2 was...ok, 3 was great, and 4 was the best of the bunch. I'm still amazed at how much they were able to pack into that NES cartridge. The DWs I've beaten are 1, 3, 4, and 7. I really enjoyed 7, I played it every night for about a month. When I was ready to go to bed I would pop it in and just level up, my characters were hella strong at the end of the game. There is a special ending if

you beat God in under 19 rounds I believe, I beat him in 20.
Unfortunatly I never bought this game, I was borrowing it from a friend and he wanted it back, so I never got to see the special ending. sad.gif

I haven't actually beaten a DW game, although I've played six of them and gotten very far in 3, 4, and 5. Sooner or later I'll finish those off, starting with 4 because I'm on the final scenario. DW3 is particularly impressive, for the NES to handle a game that deep and complicated.... just a fantastic RPG.

That's the general consensus, but it's debatable. Dragon Warrior and the original Phantasy Star were created at about the same time. I believe that PS was released in Japan before DW, but DW came out in America first, although it could be the other way around.

Also, the great Wizardry and Ultima series predated DW, and I'm pretty sure the same goes for the original Zork and Adventure in the Crystal Cavern. None of those were pure console RPGs though.

I LOVE the Dragon Quest series. Only one I ever beat was 6, and I loved it. I got to final dungon in 5, which has a really good story line.

I loved 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6, wasn't so fond of 2 and 7.

Great series.
