What has enix done since the merger to help make square better? I don't know. I am starting to wonder if Enix joined with square just to get in on the Final Fantasy credit? I don't know if any one has anything to say, please tell me.

I'll judge when FFXII comes out.

Can't really say either. They did re-release FF Anthologies and Chronicles and I consider that a good thing, but really didn't like how they made FFXI online since I don't have DSL so I do hate them for that. Never played X-2. So I guess I'll judge when FFXII comes out.

You dont need dsl to play 11 online. Just a real good graphics card.lThat was nice. In case Your Modem Goes down and you have to use dial up

i think its too early to tell. X-2, Crystal Chronicals, and 11 are all awsome. But they could still screw up down the road.

Well, the only SquareEnix (as opposed to SquareSoft) game I've played is Sword of Mana, and it is a pretty fun game. As far as I can see, Enix is just kinda 50-50 on making Square better or worse. Other.

I didn't think that Enix really did all that much for Square...I mean when you look at FFIX and below and then look at FFX and X-2...they just don't compare...maybe I would think different if I had FFXI but I don't so I don't like Enix.

As far as I can tell, (and i could be wrong) Enix has brought Square to an all time low, since they merged it seems Square has put ALL of its effort into graphics, which, dont get me wrong, is fine but not when the storyline and characters totally suck! The last few FF definatly need improvements if they hope to have a spark with new RPGer's.

I agree with Strife543...sort of. I'm not sure that it's Enix's fault that Square has lost its focus. I'd like to see the Enix-driven games before I make a judgement. The screenshots for Dragon Quest 8 look incredible.

Enix is/was the stronger of the two companies. The Dragon Quest series is much more popular in Japan than the Final Fantasy series is. It was Enix that purchased Square, not the other way around.
Square has been focused on graphics for quite sometime. They probably had the edge lately in game presentation, but Enix games have been (at least the ones that I have played) much stronger gameplay-wise (I'm talking of RPGs at the moment right now, of course). It'd take the gameplay of Star Ocean 2 over any of the Final Fantasy titles' gameplay. It a shame that the U.S. division of Enix wasn't as strong as the Square U.S.A. That is probably one of the reasons Enix purchased Square: to strengthen their U.S. distrubution. I said other, I do not think that Square has been downhill since the Enix deal. The only complaint I have is FFXI since it is too expenisive for the game and subscribition plus I do not think online rpg gameplay is very fun.

I think Enix just almost completly destroyed the proud name of Square.

We'll have to wait and see. Maybe Enix will improve in a few years. FF X-2 had a very boring storyline.

I must say i have to retract my statment. I just played Drakenguard, while the storyline is lacking the game is just fun. From riding around on the red dragon to slashing people up with your sword or smashing them in with a hammer it was a great game. Therefore I retract my statement for now... I'm still not too keen on the whole SquareEnix thing. My greatest shifting benifacter will probably be ffXII.
Although I loved the basic squaresoft I guess i'll wait and see what role Enix plays in the making of what looks like the new rpg/adventure game dominator. As for ffXI I didn't care for it and got bored after several hours. I would rather just go on the internet and play a free game called runescape which is the exact same thing other than the worse graphics. Been a devoted Square/SquareSoft fan for a long time. But, as mentioned, Squaresoft lost it's focus. FFX was absolutely beautiful, but goddamn... I felt like I was watching the game more than freaking playing it. I've played a few Enix (Dragon Quest, Ogre Battle) prior to them becoming as well-known to the U.S., and I admit that Enix seemed to have more innovation than Square. Hopefully, Enix can use Square's good name, mind-blasting graphics, and, of course, Nobuo Uematsu to produce games that appeal to me more than Square's recent games.

Add Actraiser to the list of innovative Enix games. I wonder if the merger will result in some games in different genres, Einhander was incredible, I'd love to see a few Squeenix action games.

I like the new blend. I think that Square and enix really go together well,, especially since both companies have games related t o Akira Toriyama. CT, and DW.
