Hey All! First Post. Anyway, the thing that always bothered me about Setzer's reflections of Daryl is that when they talk, Daryl says "this new airship is experiemental." That seems to lead me to believe that there was another airship that Daryl flew before the Falcon...Whad da ya think?

That may just mean that the Falcon was the first airship, and was meant to be a prototype.

True, but Setzer said they always raced, and if the falcon was faulty, it would have crashed alot sooner....

Then the Blackjack was probably the second, and built as an improvement over the Falcon, which was the first and contained an experimental design.
It is quite possible that the Falcon was built and tested, but then the Blackjack was built from improved designs, but the Falcon still worked (then). -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. The prototype was the Falcon since it was faster and better that the BlackJack. The previous one had surely crashed. Then, they constructed the Falcon but it wasn't 100% tested when they made a race. Then, Daryl said: "I'll return before sunset" and she crashed because it wasn't full tested. But surely there is a plot hole.

yes the prototype was not the falcon, the accual prototype was either the blackjack or another unnamed, unmentioned airship

The way those flashbacks go implies that Stezer already had the Blackjack and Daryl had just finished the Falcon so it seems to imply that the Blackjack was the first ship and the Falcon was am improvment on that.

The blackjack was the first ship. The falcon was the new prototype, which Daryll raced and crashed in. Setzer found the wreckage years later, fixed it and put it in Daryll's grave in memory of her. After all, he didn't have a body to bury and the falcon didn't have a casino on it :-p.

Seems to me that, though they never actually came out and stated it, there probably was another airship that Daryl rode, before she started constructing the Falcon. Who knows what happened to it though...

Eleion's take makes a lot of sense to me (and GABlastman was getting at this as well). When they call the Falcon a "new" and "experimental" airship, they probably just mean that she was either based on a new technology or a revolutionary design that hadn't been used before then.
Also, Daryl may have crashed because she pushed the envelope too far ("I'm gonna be known as the woman who flew closest to the stars!" or something like that), not necessarily due to any flaw in the Falcon. PB78 |

If you look at it...the blackjack looks like an older design...more traditional...while the falcon is more modern looking...just a thought.
errrrrr ok well that was pointless up there ^^^^^^ ignore that I think the falcon was a new enhanced airship...i mean it does look like it implements newer technology. Darill might have built the falcon after the blackjack as an eperiment...i dunno. maybe the top portion kept getting holes poked in it...
