I have been wondering about the blueish weapon that attacks Junon in FFVII, does anyone know what it is called, right now I conisder it the Sapphire Weapon.

Oh, I always thought it was ultimate weapon, just in the water.

I'm pretty sure it was just known as WEAPON cause i know there is one by that name but im not sure if this is the one. I dont think there was a Sapphire weapon but u could be right.

the one just called Weapon is white or gray...although it comes out of the water also I don't think it is the same one...the only blue colored Weapon in the game is called ULTIMA Weapon.That's what I'm pretty sure it is...although I haven't played the game in almost a year so I may be wrong...I am about to start another game of FF7 tonight though so I'll find out soon.

Ultima Weapon is where you get Cloud's Ultimate weapon after you defeat the Ultima Weapon...only Ultima Weapon flys and you have to catch it on Cid's High Wind quite a few time before you finally get to defeat it

But no...I have been playing the game since the first week it was released in the US almost 7 years ago and there is no Sapphire Weapon.
The only Weapons in FF7 are,
1. Weapon.
2. Ultima Weapon.
3. Ruby Weapon.
4. Emerald Weapon.

Whoa, hold on there. That weapon that attacked was NOT Ultima nor Ruby nor Emerald. That weapon was bluish, Ultima was purple. If you watched the FMVs, you would know that weapon had a shell for a cowl and had its head blown clean off. There's FIVE weapons in FFVII, Emerald and Ruby being the two US additions.

For the white one, you're thinking of Diamond Weapon, which you get to fight. And the blue one that attacks Junon doesn't look a bit like Ultimate.

There are indeed five weapons. You can see them all in the FMV when they get released, briefly.

Ultimate Weapon (the sword you win from it is called Ultima Weapon)
Diamond Weapon
Ruby Weapon
Emerald Weapon
and...
An unnamed Weapon.

It's this last unfightable unnamed one that attacks Junon. It is popularly named Sapphire, which would fit with the existing naming scheme, and if you refer to it as that, most people will know what you mean. The people of Final Fantasy Online Strategy Guides' forums used to insist that it should simply be called Weapon, because Square supposedly said so, but I can't verify that as I've seen no evidence of it.

I always just thought it was the emerald weapon.

I've heard that suggestion before, but personally I'm not sure how you can look at the two and think they look much alike. (Besides which, they're both in the Weapon FMV separately anyway.)

I never knew there was a sapphire weapon, just some people mad rumors about. heh, u learn something new everyday i guess, oh and Dark paladin, Sapphires are blue and emeralds are green, though in some cases they look alike.

I thought it was the Emerald Weapon. It looked like the emerald weapon(sorta) and it used those little beam thingies like the Emerald Weapon, and its in the water like the Emerald Weapon
or....

I've always heard Sapphire, and anyway, there aren't two Emerald Weapons.

But look: play back the FMV where all the weapons leave Northern Cave. You'll see the following:

Possible spoilers: highlight to view

• The Junon Weapon flies out (you can see at this point that it doesn't look a twitch like Emerald, including not being green). Diamond climbs.
• Ultimate Weapon looms above the Highwind. Surges off in blue energy; knocks the Highwind about.
• Four more Weapons leave the cave: first the one from Junon, then Diamond, Emerald and Ruby.

So you can compare, here are some pictures of "Sapphire":

Note the long spike atop its head (while it still has it) and the long tail.

I think we can agree it's not the same as Ultimate:

whopps my bad. i meant Diamond weapon. i keep on calling it Ancient weapon cause i like to call it ancient weapon.

and those pictures really help out tiddles. now i can see the difference... in all the weapons.

Thatnx for the pics to clear that up Tiddles ...also though if I remember right in the one picture where the Junon weapon is raised up in from of that canon, if you had a pic of the next frame or two it would show the Junon weapon getting it's head splattered by that cannon so that was the only time that weapon ever showed up in the game.It died before they gave you a chance to fight it.
Oh and by the way Tiddles you might wanna post a pic of Ruby too before some dumb dumb starts trying to say it's ruby weapon. haha

I didn't cap Ruby because it seemed like it was the only connection that wasn't made. I might edit it in for completeness at some point and use the post as a future reference.

Incidentally, the first shot of "Sapphire" is from the Weapons being released at Northern Cave, so it did show up in the game once before the Junon FMV. But you're quite right that it doesn't appear again after that point, and that it can never be fought.

How is that possible? That would imply a Sapphire Weapon model was made for battle mode. I doubt it exists... they made the game so as you didn't fight it.

I've never heard of that. I'm pretty sure it doesn't exist in the game at all, which rules out any method of fighting it.

Well,6 had CzarDragon...

But i somehow think theres really no way to fight sapphire. A Craniums vital, even for a giant killing machine...


Anyway, i was wondering who it really was. I was always under the impression it was Emerald, as i was not paying attention to the WEAPON during that FMV, just the carnage it caused, and i also though Emerald had no head.

That's because there IS data in the game for the Czar to exist. Stats, etc. the trigger for fighting it was simply never added. With Saphire, there was never ANY data included for it, thus, regardless of what you do, there is no way to fight it.

Nah...I don't think so...if you get that gameshark code then post it and I'll go buy one to check it out but I really don't believe that is accurate since "sapphire" never actually had a part in the actual game...it was just a part of the Story..a small part at that...and it only ever showed up in the video.Besides really...what would be the point? Like I said...if you get the code post it...I'm gonna have to see this one to believe it.

Yeah that's the way I remember it too...I've been playing the game almost 7 years and when Tiddles posted that on the sight was the first time I had ever heard it called Diamond.To me it was always Weapon...and also my friend had a strategy guide to it at one point and I think that reffered to it as Weapon but I could be wrong.And if I remember right when you go into Mideel and Ultimate Weapon attacks you your party members say something like hey it's ULTIMATE weapon.
