my tip is that cards are not always best cause they have lots of arrows it importnat they have good attack defense is not important to me but might be to you. Its easy to win when you go second cause then you are the first to attack look at card you are attacking defense if it has low physical (the third number) attack with someone who has high physical attack and so on and so forth. and another thing comboes are very good go for them.
9M15 the 9 is the attack, m is type of attack, 1 is physical defense, 5 is magical defense. (in case someone still doesnt know cause my friends beat the game without ever know anyting) X is good vs magical from my experience this is by far my favorite mini game but i get so freaking pissed off when someone steals my lindblum or alexandria card that i brake my ps2. the only thing that can match the satisfaction of this game is like Gambling cat said getting sweet weps from your chocos treasure huntings. -------------------- "Isn't ramza a girls name?" -me i havent changed my avatar or anything in a long time! time for a change yall! |

I'm sure a lot of people know about this strategy, but I like to have at least one card which is pretty weak (low stats) but has lots of arrows, and place it in a pretty accessible part of the board. The idea is that if you can keep baiting the computer into placing its cards adjacent to this multidirectional weak card, as your last move in the game you can capture that card and then take most of the computer's cards. This is a lot less dangerous when you go second, obviously.
I like the game, but I wish there were more tangible rewards for playing it. PB78 |

Though it seems to be an unpopular opinion, I like this a lot better than FF8's Triple Triad, because luck does come into it. Makes it a bit more unpredictable, y'know? More so than losing constantly than the stupid people in FF8 who have the best cards but are also masters of the game and play with same, plus, random and every other annoying rule you can think of.
I did go through and collect all the cards, though I'm sorry to say I did use savestates a couple of times, as suggested previously. I only saved at the beginning of a game, though. The way I see it, it's just a shortcut for reloading the save and finding the right person again. But I agree, PB78, it'd be nice to have more of a reward. Preferably something a little different from FF8, such that you don't need to give up your perfect card collection to refine the best items.
