Although FFVI is perfect, the game is not flawless. What plot details are incorrect?
I'll start. Observe this script that occurs in Maranda in the WoR: Lola: Look, my boyfriend in Mobliz sent me all these flowers! They're all hand-made of silk. And these are letters he has written to me... ??? But wasn't Mobliz demolished by Kefka? Somebody else must have written these... My beloved Lola, We're still busy trying to rebuild this town... If all goes well I'll be able to come home to you soon... ... this handwriting... It looks a lot like Cyan's... But where is he mailing them from? Lola: Could you please attach this reply to a carrier pigeon? Lola: Thank you. How in hell do they know what Cyan's handwriting looks like? |

If you sent letters while on the Veldt before fighting the Narshe battle, Cyan's in your party, and probably wrote the letters. Thus, Sabin would probably know the handwriting. If you sent letters later with Cyan in the party, different people might know the handwriting. No plot hole unless you contrive it purposefully.

Don't you think that FF character must write, sometimes? But thanks for pointing that out, I'll add something in my novel about Cyan writing and people knowing his writing.

I considered that odd at first, too, but I realized then that these people are on a journey together. There has to be some behind-the-scenes stuff that we don't see, such as at the inns and in the tents. They always sleep at the inn, but don't you think they'd need a bit more than just sleep? They probably sit around eating and drinking and talking and having a good time sometimes. Especially in the tents, where you don't actually see them go to bed. They probably set up camp and stay up getting to know each other. In that case, writing anything of any kind is bound to pop up. I mean, considering the amount of time that passes, if they didn't get to know each other very well,
Possible spoilers: highlight to view pretty easily for a couple of people who don't really know each other. Locke and Celes fall in love -------------------- --sbq92 <>< |

Good response Celestial, but there is a a plot hole that is possible without the phenomena of intent. Sabin and Gau were in Cyan's party when Cyan wrote the letters, yes. In the WoR, you never have to get Sabin. You have to get Celes, Edgar, and Setzer. That is all. Neither Celes, Edgar, nor Setzer would know Cyan's handwriting.
I have a bona fide error in the plot. If no one else will post about an error in the FFVI plot, I have this suggestion: Relm is Shadow's daughter. If you're courageous, try to tell me that Relm is NOT Shadow's daughter because I will beat you with a sponge when I remind you about the Memento Ring. sbq92, you are the romantic type. Locke and Celes NEVER kiss to my knowledge. How can they fall in love? |

And its not a plot fault... 3- Love does not equal kissing, and besides, they do have some rather "touching"(read "boring") scenes together... Two things that bug me:
One, Locke and Terra journeyed from Narshe to Figaro together. When they got to Figaro, Terra says, "You're that theif, Locke, right?" ![]() Two, the little scene with Terra using magic only occurs after you get Edgar. She can use magic when she's traveling with Locke, and nothing happens. Doesn't he find it a bit strange that a fire popped out of nowhere and scorched the monster in front of him? As I write the novel, I'll probably find more of these little inconsistencies. -------------------- Wow. 1,000 posts. I miss you all now that I'm in boarding school! ;_; |

Maybe it's because I have mud in my glasses, but before the Floating Conitnent starts to float, you see Kefka, Gesthal, but where the hell are the Statues? Are they just popping up of the floor? Or maybe because it's a PLOT HOLE!
EDIT: I replaced Egdar by Kefka, because that would be a MAJOR PLOT HOLE. This post has been edited by Goonies on 24th March 2004 05:14 -------------------- «À l'aventure compagnons, je suis parti vers l'horizon! J'aurais mieux fait de rester au lit, ce donjon, il est pourri!» - Pen of Chaos |

Relm is definitly Shadow's daughter, and if for some reason was not, the only possible option is they are brother sister. i Have seen all 7 dream sequences from shadow and i tell you good people, it took me a LONG time to do it. I actually gave up awhile until i heard square said there are seven. think about it, they both have access to the momento ring..."Departed Moms love protects against fatal magic attacks" and clearly relm and interceptor have a connection.

Square argues there are seven dream sequences in the game. i have seen 5 for shadow, one for relm when you dont save shadow, and i always assumed the cyan dream to be the 7th

Are they just popping up of the floor? Or maybe because it's a PLOT HOLE! I conjecture that the statues are located past the sealed gate, in the Espers' realm. I don't remember the exact script verbatim (perhaps someone can quote this part of the script more exactly than I can if they remember this), but there is a conversation between Strago, Locke, and Terra that takes place when you find the three miniature versions of the statues (right before you have to sketch Ultros with Relm). One of the theories proposed by the three is that the real statues were the source of the power which maintained the barrier protecting the Espers' world, implying that they are located in the Espers' world. Unless I read/remember that whole part incorrectly. This would then make the floating continent area the blasted/caved-in remains of the Espers' world after getting catapulted a few miles upwards. Am I completely off my rocker here (I frequently am)? PB78 |

Makes sense Pb78. As for Figaro's comment about Terra...well, she did just get back her memory, so maybe the old noggin wasn't yet up to par.

Here's a strange one for you guys, that always had me a bit miffed:
Terra starts off the game enslaved by the Empire with a Slave Crown, however Gestahl takes the Baby Terra away from Maduin/Madonna, so in that event - how long was Terra under Empire control? Her whole life? It's as if she just grew up to her current age and was enslaved as her existence prior to that is pretty much unaccounted for. |

missing point: there are TWO momento rings, description: departed moms love protects against fatal magic. both RELM and SHADOW can equip the bottom line: siblings

sorry to argue with everyone who says there aren't 7 of shadow's dreams but i have personally seen 6 and my brother has seen the 7th... i just can't for the life of me remember where they all are...
also LoneWolf raises a VERY good point... based on the momento ring's description, and interceptor's liking of relm points out that they could indeed be siblings (one of the dream sequences i remember is shadow leaving relm with strago when she was a baby which tells me there is some form of relation between the two) -------------------- ~ A Hero Is Someone Who Stands When Their Legs Are Gone~ |

Seven dreams in the game; six viewable in any one game. First four from Shadow. The fifth and sixth belong to Shadow and Relm, but you can only see one of them per game. The seventh is Cyan's. That's all there are. If anyone wants to argue with this well established knowledge, I'd suggest they bite their tongue until they can get screenshots or savestates. I think Shadow's relationship to her is a pretty logical deduction from there. "Departed Mom's love" needn't mean she was a mother to Shadow; she could have been the mother to his child, and this is what Relm's dream suggests. |
